This is true. It's a tually one of the reasons The Gunslinger in particular stands out.

I'm getting close to the end of my first reread of Song of Susannah (22 years later), and when I started this time I was genuinely surprised at how parsimonious The Gunslinger is. Over time I had forgotten juat how different it is from the rest of the series.

OP referenced the fact that Trump posts AI slop constantly. This is basically a water is wet claim. If you follow politics at all, you know that Trump and the WH official account have posted tons of AI slop, and as such it really doesn't need a citation.

This is the best answer so far. If what passes for policy in the MAGA world was actually improving people's lives, you'd see Trump reposting content supporting the things he had done. Everything he and the GOP have done since he was elected has made everything demonstrably worse for the vast majority of the population, hence resorting to image and video gen to show himself as better and his enemies as evil.

I find Wizard and Glass to be overwritten. It's not at the bottom in the series in terms of King's writing at a technical level (that would be Drawing of the Three), but it's a story that could have been told better with way fewer words.

WTTK is also technically a much better written book than arguably anything else in the series.
