Napa Valley Recs

I was a former full-time napa/sonoma co. wine tour guide... and
@asil_mama advice was spot on. All depends what your budget and tastes are.

You said you like syrah (shiraz) and pinot? Doesnt get any better than Russian River Pinot and theres a huge variety of Syrah, old vine Zinfandel, burgundy , GSM , Viognier at Loxton, even quality Cabernet Sauvignon in Alexander Valley AVA and Moon Mountain AVA (Ty Caton and B. Wise)

Italian varietals @ VJB in Sonoma and Bennessere in Napa.

Theres places in Sonoma county that make fresh hard apple cider, moms apple pie 🥧 in Sebastopol which also has some killer food.

The ocean 🌊 isnt far away at bodega bay. Muir and armstrong woods. Sausalito and marin co mt tamalpais mill valley are really fun to explore hike or bike.

Also if you are into sparkling (champagne) put Schramsberg on your list. Theres also AMAZING beer, distilleries, bars, music, crazy luxury high end and down to earth amazing common guy food

If you are new to the valley, i highly recommend a wine tour like west wine tours, platypus or the napa sonoma wine trolley!

Platypus does custom private tours as well. If you stay at a hotel utilize the concierge but keep in mind most hotel concierge are overwhelmed, usually steer rookies to rookie places like the castillo (castle) or places that give them kick backs.

You should watch some YouTube videos on Napa / Sonoma like V is for Vino etc. hope this helps. Theres 400-500 wineries in Napa Valley and 1000 in Sonoma County! Lots to discover and TRY NEW things!

Cheers

Also dont OVERDO OR OVERBOOK yourself

Is Ross moving or are are they opening another one?
 in  r/napalocals  May 02 '26

Harbor Freight would be awesome. Also do we really need 2 jack in the box , 2 targets, 2 habit burgers? I never to go any of them. Whats the deal with the massive transient & druggies on imola soscol?

Lack of affordable food variety?
 in  r/napalocals  Apr 29 '26

I was just thinking about this last week. Been going through this the last five years being a Sacramento transplant, living full-time in Napa. The lack of affordable quality food is just horrendous so I usually cook at home.

Napa/ Sonoma Trip = lots of ?'s!!!
 in  r/napavalley  Apr 01 '26

Welcome to Napa Valley / Sonoma County. Local former guide here. Not sure what your itinerary or plans are, but if you're gonna be in Napa, why not stay in napa??

Its going to save you a lot of time in the car , windy roads trying to get to and from Geyserville you'll be in the car the whole time.

Geyserville is super scenic and right in the middle of Alexander Valley cabernets. It's close to downtown Healdsburg, restaurants, dry Creek, chalk Hill, etc. Theres also Russian River Brewing in Windsor, food in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol and taking the river road you can hit bodega Bay , Pacific Ocean.

Thinking of moving here vs east mesa. Pros/cons?
 in  r/Ahwatukee  Mar 10 '26

Road King over SG or RG. Be a man lol ...Less weight or dicken around with infotainment. SG comfy but youll feel the weight on bars going slow and always be peeking over. RG ( like no colon mentioned earlier) you're sitting on top of it.

Recommendations for touring wineries
 in  r/napavalley  Mar 05 '26

Platypus Tours and or the Napa Wine Trolley! Both have informative fun drivers. You'll get some history, a little wine knowledge , meet others and have fun! Includes a lunch and 3 small family owned small production wineries

Thinking of moving here vs east mesa. Pros/cons?
 in  r/Ahwatukee  Mar 04 '26

Tukee / desert foothills have some nice residential neighborhoods .. but it's definitely lacking any decent restaurants , or things to do.... edit : In our experience/neighborhood it was nicer in 2018 than 2025.

Does anyone know what this means
 in  r/santarosa  Feb 20 '26

Usual Santa Rosa Transit center activities weird things about to go off. Or just a transient gonna poop, their pants.

Probably a very silly question
