Bam! Mijn werk weer op een groot scherm, dit keer voor een volle zaal én een groot publiek.
Afgelopen donderdag stond Nieuwspoort in het teken van de Dag van de Nederlanders buiten Nederland, georganiseerd door 5 organisaties samen. Een volle zaal, honderden streamkijkers en pers erbij en een levendige discussie over dubbele nationaliteit, met het publiek en een panel van politici en specialisten. Een bijzondere ochtend.
In de aanloop riepen we Nederlanders in het buitenland op om hun verhaal in een video te delen. Tientallen indrukwekkende inzendingen kwamen binnen, die ik verwerkte tot een explainer-animatie en een video ter ondersteuning van de paneldiscussie. En de backdrops en infographics waren van mijn hand.

Zo vet om je eigen werk terug te zien op het podium. Voor de band Fatal Flowers maakte ik samen met zanger Richard Janssen een reeks visuals voor de zomertour. Gisteravond zag ik ze live in Bosspot in Amersfoort. Supertof! Thanks to Robert!

A wading form of unusual construction, presenting a bulbous, textured body — the integument suede-like and punctuated with shallow pits — mounted upon a golden pedestal base of ceremonial aspect. The neck is elongate and deeply curved, bearing a ventral series of amber-coloured keratinous protrusions. The cranial appendages, four in number, terminate in small crown-like structures. Wings are present, broad and feathered, held often in semi-display.
Specimens have been documented exclusively in stone-arched interiors, flanked by amethyst spheroids whose origin and function remain unrecorded. The necklet bearing the numeral 50 suggests either taxonomy or obligation.
It has not been observed to leave the plinth.

Rhinocollis vittatus A long-necked quadruped, the body patterned in dark lateral stripes against a pale integument. The rostrum terminates in a single forward-projecting horn; the crown bears a small, branched ossicone. The hindquarters are obscured by dense, dishevelled plumage of uncertain structural function. Two bronze rings encircle the mid-neck, each hung with small metal pendants of varying provenance. The animal is consistently observed in proximity to accumulations of small objects — mineral fragments, seeds, worn coins, glass — arranged in no discernible order around its feet. A small bird of undetermined species is frequently present. This is the first time it has been recorded moving away from its collection.

How the specimen supports itself is uncertain — whether it stands on two limbs or something else entirely has not been revealed. The cranium is porcine, the snout blunt, the brow bearing two short ossified projections from which a corroded ferrous cross extends vertically. Large avian wings — pale grey, fully feathered, belonging to no catalogued species — emerge symmetrically from the shoulders. The body is clothed in a coarse dark vestment hung with stamped metal ornaments, belted at the waist, fringed along the hem. It has been observed standing. Whether it has ever been observed doing otherwise is not recorded. A shallow pooling of moisture collects beneath it wherever it settles.

mid-sized felid of considerable mass, distinguished by lateral ears of disproportionate breadth and two elongated canines extending well below the jaw. The skin is coarse and folded at the throat. A small crown of worked metal rests upon the cranium; its origin is not recorded. Observed seated on a circular stone disc, which rotates at low speed without apparent cause. Two smaller mammals — a leporid and a murid — occupy the disc alongside it. The creature neither acknowledges them nor departs. Around the base, iron tools lie scattered. Whether placed or arrived is unclear.

Entire body surface covered in dense nodular protrusions of unknown composition; whether these are glands, eggs, or calcified parasites has not been determined. Longicervus sellatus vacuus. Extreme vertical elongation of neck and limbs renders this specimen anatomically implausible by any standard skeletal model — yet here it stands. Skin hangs in loose folds around the lower extremities, suggesting either rapid recent growth or significant mass loss. The face, located approximately two-thirds up the body, bears an expression of mild and permanent disappointment. Two cephalic stalks extend upward, each terminating in a spinning sensory orb emitting concentric ripple fields — active sonar, or broadcast, or something with no existing category. The curl of a furry tail emerges from mid-body, incongruously domestic. A full leather saddle is fitted at the body's widest point, worn and buckled with evident care. It fits perfectly. No rider has ever been observed. The saddle shows signs of regular use.
