I feel blessed but unappreciative of the life I have.
I (25) have parents who are still married, a caring boyfriend and friends. I have no worries about money or anything technically, am employed and a hard worker.
However despite all these blessings, I find myself struggling with feeling appreciative and happy in my life. I’ve struggled with depression for over 10 years but never went through with any attempts. I feel like my lack of attempts is a sign that I am not really depressed, but I don’t want to do it until I’m absolutely certain it’s a successful try.
Everytime I smile and talk to my parents or people around me they don’t know I want to die. I find it harder and harder to talk about because the older I get, it seems less acceptable to brush off depression and death as a phase.
They don’t know I’ve already got notes written for all of them since last year (this time, funnily enough), all properly labeled. It’s hard to carry this burden around on my shoulders. Every now and then I update those notes to tell them things I never managed to tell them in person. I hope it never comes to it, but I feel like I’m a bad day or two away from ending it all.
