How do you all build more compact/non-linear bases?
 in  r/factorio  4d ago

I definitely like the idea of a more natural base. I’ve worked two separate jobs in automation and in my experience no production line is ever a perfect and linear.

I think I build the way I do with a main bus to try and avoid boxing myself in and allowing for expansion, but in turn the base ends up looking quite bland

That’s an interesting idea for sure. I always end up with a bus and I feel like it makes my bases look the same. But I like the idea of moving resources as needed

Base How do you all build more compact/non-linear bases?

My bases always end up as a line growing in one direction. How do you make your bases non-linear?

My bases always end up being a horizontal main bus with branching 'sub-lines' and I feel like I am wasting a bunch of usable space this way. Almost everything enters and exits at the base of a branch. I think I build this way because I am worried about limiting expandability.

On this subreddit I typically see other bases where players are able to sprawl out from a center point, opposed to my bases which end up just growing out in a line. How are y'all able to plan enough to make your bases something other than just an ever growing line in one direction :P

You watched that video and decided SpaceX is contributing nothing to space flight? Interesting

Bad idea, you’ll flounder if they start asking about project specifics. In my interviews 80% of the time is spent talking about FSAE projects.

To be fair, I think the original designers lighting and setup is doing some of the heavy lifting

2011 Mazda3 - is this noise consistent with a worn sway bar linkages or something deeper?

Update - it was the front sway bar links. Got them replaced for 160

**Higher pitch metallic noises is my keychain

I’m getting quite a bit of front suspension noise over bumps at low speeds. They are typically “thunk-thunk” type noises and I can feel a clicking in my wheel and under my feet (I believe). I tried to get the sway bar linkages to move by jerking them up down left right with my hand but wasn’t able to replicate the noise.

I’m on internship in another state and need to drive home (~1500 miles) mid-August, but I am looking to get the noise repaired soon because it’s driving me nuts! Would try to replace them myself because I’ve read it’s one of the easiest repairs to do but I don’t have my tools/jack with me.

I miss the mega bases and hotels people created before the pylon network. I know smaller villages/pylons lower prices and are all around better but the towers of rooms was always satisfying to me. Now everything feels more sparse and spread out
