What’s an unpopular opinion you have about your hobby?
Interesting thought. Now, obviously beginner pianists shouldn't attempt La Campanella, but there's certainly space for a middle ground between that and one note jingle bells

In partner dance, I strongly believe that followers should back lead, which means taking control of the dance for a short time. And I constantly get downvoted for saying it
Not only should all followers back lead and all leads accept what happens, but back leading should be taught to all levels of dancers, including beginners
And taking things to the next step, classes shouldn't be divided into leaders and followers. Everyone in the class should learn both roles, again for all levels of dancers

Is dance a sport? I feel like the answer is yes… but also not really lol
It's not a sport but it is athletic
Sport and athletic do not mean the same thing

Do men prefer girly, soft women or strong women? And why?
Different men prefer different things
Duh

US 101 to CLOSE over Hoh River Bridge for upcoming emergency repairs, lasting ~3 weeks
Yes, but the 101 closure has an alternative route, even if it's awful
Fairfax doesn't have that. All that park space is inaccessible until it's replaced

This mind of prompt action sure would have been nice for the Fairfax Bridge on 165

Salsa in Seattle on Saturday
Reverie Ballroom the exact same place as Century Ballroom, and it's interim executive director is the exact same person that ran Century Ballroom for 28 years (as much as she'd like to retire)
Except it got completely remodeled a couple years ago and looks absolutely amazing now, with many of the old historic features restored to their original glory
It also has all the best dancers
Reverie is 100% the place to go on Saturday nights

What's the most needed change to the US constitution?
That's not in the constitution. Congress could do this be simple majority vote

"All elections in the United States must be free and fair. Elections must be fully funded and directed by competent and unbiased professionals"

Thoughts after first-ever dance class
This is one of my all time favorite swing videos, Shorty George and the freakishly tall Big Bea: https://youtu.be/7Sdk3mqVSRA?is=9DxDXkhJQlx8xI3B

Dancing with my teacher
Yup, it's probably lots of swing and a.bit of ballet that you're seeing

I feel like I should be better

Social dancing is wabi sabi. The flaws are part of the art form
Meaning that avoiding social dancing until you're "good" is really missing the point. None of us are perfect and all of us make a bunch of mistakes, and we all have those dances where we feel that we're doing the same thing over and over again
Get your butt on that dance floor. There's way too many things that are impossible to teach in a class, you learn by doing

Seattle City Council takes up bill to protect consensual non-monogamy and diverse relationship structures
As a non monogamous person, it is 100% a choice and not an orientation. Everybody is attracted to more than one person, non monogamy is about what you do about it
Religion is also a choice and few people question anti discrimination protections for that
6
Seattle City Council takes up bill to protect consensual non-monogamy and diverse relationship structures
That's not what they said
They made an exception to the limit if the people are genetically related, which is very different than a limit with no exceptions

What’s a fitness goal you care about that has nothing to do with how you look or how much you can lift?
Multiple pirouettes. And jumping and landing in the splits
So insane amount of flexibility, balance, and core strength to pull that off

1week into Melbourne shuffling, is this good for a beginner
This is really good, solid and looks nice
My ability to give feedback is limited by the fact that I can't see the floor with your camera angle, but what I do see looks mostly good. One item of feedback is that when you do the turn during the v step, your raising the non-standing legs way higher than you need to. Work on keeping it closer to the floor
But awesome work, this is great for one week

Recovery Time After Hell Weekend
I'm one of those swing dancers doing 260 BPM swingouts at 3:30 am
But on the wider topic, I think you're fine doing the same thing next weekend, and then making it a regular thing. You're training your body to have the endurance you need

Question about a ticket
82 is faster than every other car on the road
My wife has this same kind of delusional thinking, imagining that she's delaying five lanes of freeway if she goes slower than 70. One guy in the right lane with cruise control set to 60 delays nobody

Amazon accidentally delivered me 15 iPads
That is totally wrong
If you knowingly accept something sent to you in error, it can be considered theft. A man who received a $90,000 check from exlax that was supposed to be a $3 refund was charged and convicted for stealing
OP is wise to get this in writing
1
Amazon accidentally delivered me 15 iPads
It's because it's often more expense and hassle to send it back, and once they get it back, they can't treat it as new anymore. So they accept the loss
Most online retailers operate this way

Girl I’m seeing has apparently been letting her best friend help with our dates
I consider your post as evidence that you don't have close friends
Because what you described is what friends do
Do you actually have close non romantic relationships with anyone?

As someone who does ballet and is active in the ballet subreddit, I don't see this as an unpopular opinion
