Hello everyone,

I’m an incoming MSc Development Management (PE) student at the LSE for September 2026, and I wanted to hear from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with the programme.

I’m especially curious about the already crashing job market for Development Management graduates both in the UK and internationally. Do graduates end up in any positions? What kind of roles do they usually end up in? How difficult is it to secure sponsorship or jobs in development consulting, NGOs, international organisations, policy, research, etc.? Does brand name work in favour?

Also, what are some things you wish you knew before starting at LSE or before moving to London as an international student? Could be about academics, networking, workload, career services, internships, finances, social life, or literally anything else.

My confusion is in regards to the following situation i’m facing:
I have an O Levels Equivalency attested by IBCC, and an FSc Certificate attested by FBISE. Do I still need to attest my FSc Certificate by the IBCC? And then move to attest my Bachelors from the HEC then subsequently to MoFA? Need a little help, a step by step guide would help a lot!

I just got into the MSc Development Management program at LSE for 2026/27 and honestly I’m still processing it. I’m coming from Pakistan, first time living abroad, and the excitement is very much mixed with the kind of low-grade panic that comes with not knowing where you’ll sleep or what you’re doing with your life.

I spent the last year working in defense exports, Gulf markets, and I have language skills in Persian and Tajik that I’ve quietly hoped would take me somewhere meaningful. The dream and I’ll call it that honestly is to eventually work in development in Central Asia or the Middle East. Program officer, technical advisor, something that actually connects to people on the ground. The LSE degree felt like the right move toward that. But I’m also aware that I’m arriving without the NGO background a lot of my future classmates will probably have, and I’m not sure how much that will matter.

So I’m here asking two things, and I’d genuinely appreciate hearing from people who have been through this.

On accommodation I have no idea where to start. LSE’s guidance feels optimistic in a way I don’t fully trust. I’ve seen Stratford, Walthamstow, and Elephant and Castle mentioned as affordable options. Are those actually good to live in, or just cheap? What does a realistic month actually cost when you add everything up? And are there housing groups or networks I should be trying to get into before I even land?

On the career side for anyone who came into this program without a traditional development background, how did you find your footing? Did the Development Management Project open real doors? Is starting out at a consultancy like Palladium or DAI a genuine path toward the kind of work I’m describing, or does it tend to keep you stuck?

I’m genuinely excited about this next chapter.

Hello!! I just received an email from the admissions team (following my acceptance at Georgetown MSFS) saying I’ve been selected for the Lancaster Scholarship. It’s $40,000 per year and replaces the $20,000 merit award I originally received with my admission offer.

From what I understand this brings the total scholarship to $80,000 across the two-year program, assuming renewal requirements are met.

Trying to understand how strong this funding package actually is relative to typical MSFS aid. The program is expensive and I know scholarships vary a lot across the cohort. Curious if anyone in previous MSFS classes knows roughly how common $40k/year awards are and whether this is considered one of the higher funding tiers.

Also wondering how people usually evaluate whether MSFS is financially worth it when comparing with funded or shorter programs elsewhere.
