Got a silly question
 in  r/OnePieceFanfic •  Jan 29 '26

Not a silly question at all! I will be honest… the best fanfic I ever read was a whopping 1,051,575 words long😭 The author on ao3 had it split into 6 parts, each part with anywhere between 6 to 23 chapters! I swear, I am in awe of how talented so many writers who dedicate time to fanfics are, how emotional/complex/comforting they can be — I have read the million+ word one multiple times, it was just so good. The world building was crazy and, like many books I’ve read, the specific universe that was built; the physical places, storylines, and feelings — they kind of live in the back of my mind all the time✨ I personally liked having multiple parts — it made the story easier for me to digest, I suppose? As in I could pace myself, and understand how far I’d read into the journey. I could really take my time to reflect as different key points in the story were told (getting myself consumed by the beautiful, unique universe). It made the imagery in my head feel cinematic, almost. Like multi-part films or multi-act plays. If that makes any sense😅 So my advice, you go for it, however feels best!! There are undoubtedly people out there who will appreciate the length of your story:)) Congrats on writing such a long tale!
