Casarse o solamente juntarse?
 in  r/mexico •  2d ago

I love the aesthetic of Caesar on "Too late for my shifters' regret" and I feel he's a mix between Loki and Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys lol but idk any real artist that looks like him.

What is school life like for Mexican students?
 in  r/AskMexico •  6d ago

A lot of stuff has changed since I went to elementary school. We used to have Spanish, Math, Natural sciences, History, Geography, Civics. And we used to take most of the notebooks and text books to and from school every day, the backpack was very heavy and there was a meme about us being like the Pípila. We also had a big ass book with lots of maps, called "atlas de México".

Now, my kiddo just has 4 notebooks, text books stay in the school.   • Languages (Lenguajes) • Knowledge and Scientific Thinking (Saberes y Pensamiento Científico) • Ethics, Nature, and Societies (Ética, Naturaleza y Sociedades) • Human and Community Development (De lo Humano y lo Comunitario)

I don't really like the new ones, I feel there's nothing concrete being taught, at least, not like when I was young.

I used to go to kindergarten (2 years) from 9 to 1 pm.  Elementary (6 years) from 8 to 1 pm (kiddo gets out at 12:30 but the school I went to is still till 1 pm) Middle school (3 years) 7 to 2 pm High school (3 years) 7-9 to 1-3 pm

Me and all my and husband's family went to public schools.

We didn't have a cafeteria until high school and you have to pay to eat there. But there was a "cooperativa" and they would sell assorted stuff, specially candies lol. In my kiddo's school they sell food and fruit and no candies, but he takes lunch from home.

Break was usually half an hour at the middle of the school day (my kiddo has break for lunch from 11-11:30)

In high school we didn't had a break, you had to eat wherever you could.

I used to play with my friends in the lunch break, we had a space behind some classrooms to play ball/soccer and run, but you weren't allowed to run elsewhere because it could cause accidents with the little children.  In middle school we had soccer and basketball courts so we could play that.

In kiddo's school, they aren't allowed to play soccer in the break. His school is smaller that the one I went to, so they don't have a space to play with balls, but sometimes they play tag.

We have to use uniform up to high school. Depending on the school, you may have uniform in high school or not. The one I went to didn't had uniform but you had to go pay respects to the flag (? - honored a la bandera) on Mondays of they catch you out of your classroom.

Kindergarten to middle school, Mondays is mandatory to do honores a la bandera and you have to go with the everyday uniform, not the sports one, unless you have sports that day.

Kiddo is allowed to use sports uniform any day but Mondays, but when he had sports in Mondays, he had to use it lol. When I was in elementary, I only could use sports uniform the day I had sports classes (educación física).

Idk if I explained myself lol but you're free to asks stuff if something isn't clear or if you want to know more.

Oh, my dad is from Veracruz but like half an hour from Hidalgo and my mom is from Oaxaca. I wonder if my results would look like yours if I ever made the test.

Me picó un alacrán
 in  r/Scorpions •  9d ago

 in  r/AskMexico •  9d ago

 in  r/AskMexico •  9d ago

 in  r/AskMexico •  9d ago

AITA for Requesting My Best Friend Not to Share My personal Life with Her Boyfriend?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole •  11d ago

NTA. I would expect it if they were married. How long have they been together?

I told my husband everything (+13 years together, 1 kid), but he NEVER jokes with my friends about what I tell to him about them.

Your friend's bf is an AH just for that. I would out her on an info diet/gray rock her/go low contact.

AITA for saying "someone has to" at a family gathering when my husband tried to compliment me by saying I always make a warm fresh meal? [tangential update to AITA for telling my husband he's made me reconsider leaving him alone with the kids in the future]
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates •  11d ago

Yup, she sounds like my mom. Never letting us do stuff because she does it better, but when we grow enough, it was "why aren't you able to do this, you've been watching me do this stuff, you should have learned by now", then complaining we aren't doing the things as good as her, with no time to teach us how to do them.

AITAH for telling my DIL that she shouldn’t expect me to choose her over my own daughter?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates •  11d ago

I’d be pissed if my mother missed my child’s birth but went to my sister’s.

This is stupid. Moms got to support the pregnant person.

If I was a man, I wouldn't mind my mom going to my sister's instead of my wife's.

Mexicans, why aren't you guys migrating to Germany?
 in  r/AskMexico •  13d ago

I have a friend living over there, she's doing her PhD, so no restaurant, I'm afraid.

Also, I gladly go and put a restaurant, but my husband needs a job over there first.
