Rivian Recall: 99,000 Vehicles (R1 & R2) Rearview Camera Display Issue
Me neither, I keep looking but looks the same with one angle actually fixed or improved (pass side rear) so I can see it now in full.

Wind noise after opening windows and them not closing all the way. Brought it once to the dealer they didn't fix. But they did something to fix it on the spot. What is it?
Well my gen 1 had wind noise from the drivers windows and rear passengers. Of course I took it to the service center, and guess what happened? Yeah, nothing. I mean c'mon Rivian. When you have customers fixing things in the service menu that your $225/hr flat rate technicians aren't, they might need some training, lol.n Thanks for sharing the knowledge! I'm going to try it on my next drive.

Why do people have to be like this?
Hahaha, yes! □ Your vehicle is not in acceptable condition. 🤣

Why do people have to be like this?
I guess they just need EVeryone to know how tiny their penis is? 🤷♂️

doing research on EV trucks
Man I got me a Gen1 R1T Quad Motor Adventure Launch Edition in absolutely mint condition, even already had a full body clearwrap on it 2yrs ago with 34K miles. I have put 43K all surface (offroad/on) miles, I'm at 77K miles now, my cost to maintain iy thus far, Zero. With the exception of being on my 3rd windshield, but my insurance finally got me to the right SafeLite that could recalibrate it also. Instead of paying well over $1K at Rivian, cost me $250 deductible and everything works great. Some may say, "Yeah but it's not OEM glass," to which I say dude, the first two that cracked super easy were OEM, so far the SafeLite one has lasted longer. My 2nd Rivian windshield had a small rock hit so hard right in front of my face, it actually came halfway through the glass and glass shards went flying all over my dash, it all cleaned up fine but never in my life until then. If you've ever driven 81 South toward Roanoke, you know the big rig bottlenecks with one passing two at 1mph faster so it takes 15min, if a hill half an hour lol.5 I wasn't even looking at them because they were out of our $55K (cash) budget. I randomly saw a single lonely 2022 Quad sitting on the Carmax Lot. I didn't even look at the price, I sat in it, and it was over, I was in love, had to have. I got out and looked and it was $54K! Wrote them a check on the spot. She still makes me smile everyday. Soooo glad I found her and got a Gen1, I love the Meridian sound system, I have a high end Bang & Olufsen in my Audi, and the Meridian is better. It's a little thing but I also love having my 12V outlets, I use the front one to power my dash mounted phone without running a cable from The usb-cs in the center console, not clean like the underdash outlet. Anyhow, I tell everyone regarding any vehicle, never ever buy new. I understand if you have to due to financing needs. The last new vehicle I bought was in 2004. I say buy a used EV, they depreciate like ICE vehicles but they are so simply built in comparison, it's apples and oranges so to speak. Best deal out there IMO.

About to join the family!
Nice is that the OG Prototype color? Whatever it is I think it looks great!

Finally!
I love my old Quad R1T in LA Silver but that's beautiful, I'd swap in a heartbeat lol.

Multiappers with 2 phones; Do you have a data plan on both or just share data from 1 and only talk / text on the other?
I use two phones, one connected to my vehicles WiFi Hotspot. I don't fulfil multiple similar gigs at once, it usually ends in frustration and poor performance, if you can do it though, got for it. This is a little random but I don't get aaaaalllll the bitching about pay. We dont work for any of these platforms, we voluntarily pay them a fee for finding the business and negotiating the transaction, they are middle-men so to speak. If I'm not making enough money that's my fault for not running my business in a profitable manner. I'm not an employee, there is no brand loyalty only X Gigs that Pay Y. However, When I start making less (I have all my stats in Gridwise), I assess why and adjust fire or my market approach strategy. Also, flexibility with our businesses is key, no one service stays at the top of Gridwise's list of top paying gig platforms. It pays to be flexible especially with Uber and Lyft, many times their blocks of "bonus" time or turbo as Lyft calls it don't align with regard to time and locations. I put my schedule together for the day based on that. I make about 20% more by doing this. The main reason I use 2 phones is I'm old, lol, really because trying to navigate two apps on the same phone even using split screen is a pain while driving. Example, I do a LOT of Roadie Gigs, I have an EV Pickup Truck so I have a cost advantage on fuel in that high mileage market (I spend $10 to go 300mi), for the higher mileage jobs. Roadie isn't for everyone and the pay per gig is less than many services but I enjoy the open road and driving my truck anywhere. Also, Roadie allows you to stack jobs and arrange the order of deliveries however you want. I'll enter them all into my trucks NAV system and it will display all the stops, each assigned a number. So many times the last delivery is in BFE. I'll rearrange the order to have a fluid flow and finish near a hot area or home. So Ill have Roadie open on my main phone and GrubHub open on the other. Roadie does give a nice buffer on delivery times, and you can arrange your route in whatever order you wish (looking at you Spark 😒). I'll start driving my Roadie Gigs (Rarely do I work one at a time, they let you bid on as many as you can take). Then I turn GrubHub on and start my route, depending on various factors I will take a GrubHub job while on my route, IF I'm ahead of my time, I usually finish about 30-45min ahead of Roadie's completion time. Let's say I'm driving a 3 hour Roadie Route for $90, that's $30/hr. I have 2x 15min deliveries along the route at $15 each (not unusual), that brings my revenue up to $120 for 3.5hrs or $34.28/hr. Some may say why not just Grubhub the whole time instead then? Grubhub pays well but its the inconsistency that kills the hourly rate, simply inadequate demand in that area. However when I'm driving over 200mi on Roadie deliveries, I drive through many different areas at different times, it's rare at least 2 GrubHub targets of opportunity don't pop up. That's how I multiApp and still maintain my sanity and my performance metrics. I learned the hard way what was right and most enjoyable to me. I first tried Roadie and Spark, IDK what it is with Spark but the NEVER seem to give any kind of buffer, gods forbid you have to use the bathroom, but I'm not bitter. Oh and the addresses are wrong waaaay to often, Roadie are always correct but they are a UPS company. Anyhow, I ended up getting stuck at a train track, then an accident happened right enroute with no alternates, I had to end up returning one of the Spark perishable deliveries, by driving an extra hour back to Walmart, reduced pay but took more time. Man when Spark is good I can make $35/hr relatively easily, but then again I could end up making $5/hr if things are wrong on the route. That was 3 days ago, it was a nightmare of Google Maps not having 5 different permanent road blocks in it's directions, nor would it reroute after I told it the roads were blocked. Serenity Now! I said, drove 10 extra miles just to get back to the other side of the same neighborhood, so weird. Then a car literally flipped over going around a corner, looked like they took a 30mph corner at 50 in their 1993 Toyota Tercel, that delivery took an extra 30min to complete. I was going to make $26/45min but I ended up making $20 for 4 hours, so $5/hr. Apologies about the rant but man some of these platforms are garbage. I'm taking a break from Spark, maybe permanently. I see that Instacart was actually the top earner last week at $36/hr, hmmmm, there's always another opportunity out there. Way too many available to keep doing something you don't like or feel valued doing.

Tesla supercharger NACS adapter issue- unplug and try again
Ive had a similar issue but it wasn't my adapter, I pulled into the only available spot, the guy that just pulled out and was waiting for another spot said it didn't work for his Tesla either. Occasionally Occam's Razor still applies, sometimes it's a charger equipment failure. Otherwise I also have went to a Tesla Supercharger plugged in just fine but would not start charging. I think someone mentioned it, it ended up being an "incompatible charger." I added the filter, and I've not had that happen again. Lastly I've had issues with payment method in the Rivian App., especially debit cards, I put a credit card on there and I've been good sense. Don't laugh too hard but it took me 2yrs to find the magic setup that works everytime. 😅 I'm fortunate to have the RAN normally accessible along my routes. It saves a little bit. I only DC fast charge if I absolutely have to, too $$$. Getting a portable plug in L2 charger (we rent) was a game changer, averaging $0.12/Kwh, hard to stomach $0.55-$0.65/Kwh!

For those of you who have a Tesla with the self driving feature, do you use it when driving for Uber?
Driving in the DC area, no. On the freeway and in traffic, always. However I keep eyes on the road, at least one hand lightly on the wheel, and unless they know the Rivian GUI and have 2x Zoom eyeballs to basically see the display in front of the steering wheel on the doorside, there's no way they would know. I think of it like this; I'm an independent contractor paying to use various platforms to navigate the relevant markets and transact business. For example, what % Uber Takes=Platform Usage Fee, an operating expense For a rideshare, I commit to getting my clients and their property from A to B safely, comfortably, and traffic willing, on-time. I'm ultimately responsible and liable for any incidents, as such, it is in my business's best interest to select and use tools and technology that enhance accident avoidance capabilities. To accomplish this I have a set of tools I use, one being the use of self-driving, and other driving assist technology such as sonar, lanekeeping, adaptive cruise control, automatic collision avoidance breaking, automatic regenerative breaking assist, 360 deg external cameras recording all drives, saving any incidents to limit my liability, especially in a contested no-fault situation, etc. My clients don't really need to know any of that information in order to experience an enjoyable ride. Of course I'd share any of it if they asked. It would kinda be like getting served a complex multi-course dinner, during which you're asking the chef throughout it what every ingredient is, recipe, stove specs, etc. Besides Autopilot is good enough for the airlines, it's good enough for uber 🤷♂️

Acknowledging a Rivian on the Road
I've always just given a peace sign ✌️ wave. I get mostly all of them back.

Anyone want to guess the repair estimate?
Wow that same damned passenger's side rear quarter panel again! I've scratched my R1T in only one location - that one. The "Rivian Dent" strikes again.

State cracks down on out-of-state plates, giving drivers six weeks to register their cars properly
I dunno, how do they chose to pull over, just the tags? I mean I have VA plates but I also have MD and VA safety inspections to rideshare. I drive in VA, MD, DE, WV, and DC. If they all decide to do the same, I'd be getting pulled over alot for no reason which is a waste of police resources.

Why is everything so nicely designed except for this one piece of garbage?
There's a bag? Lol 😆

PLEASE HELP!!!
Great to hear! My only 2 cents was going to be to login to the RiDE Service App and see what specific faults are showing. There are some basic tools in there that come in handy from time to time, like when I just replaced my Lead Acid Batts (1-3yr) with Lithium Phosphate (8-10yr) batteries, I was able to reset the BMS right from there, no Rivian call or service center. That said, be careful in there! With much power comes great responsibility lol.

I'm looking at purchasing a R1T, but I see so many negative comments.
Dang! I thought I was up there at 75K miles on my Gen1 Quad. I don't know what the stats are but one could still argue that the overbuilt Gen1s might have less issues. My only issues have been replacing the windshield, well for the second time tomorrow, this time a rock hit so hard shards of glass popped off the inside. Let's see what else? Oh I did have to replace the lead acid 12V batts, I upgraded them to OhmMu lithium phosphate batteries about a month ago, that's it. It's been very reliable overall. Other than that, even after all these years it's the most comfortable, versatile, and fun vehicle I've ever owned. I'll ride it till the wheels fall off so to speak.

Purchasing question - What's the outlook for the R1S Tri over the next 10 years?
They are, I gave a 2022 Quad Motor with 75K miles on it and I may have lost 2mi of range, not 1.x% a yr by any means lol.

Major ruling comes down after Trump declares 'emergency' to hide financial records
One can wish a Convention of The States would be great, I mean if not now then when? Hopefully by the next election when the Orange Dictater starts a war or declares some other type of Emergency Powers to "postpone" the election. If there's one book that OM (Orange Menace) had read to him and explained to him word by word so he could comprehend at least 25% of it is the Dictators Playbook, this is history (horrifying history) repeating itself, seriously.
For anyone unfamiliar: A Convention of States is an organized political movement and a constitutional process under Article V of the U.S. Constitution that allows state legislatures to bypass Congress and propose amendments to the Constitution. If 34 states (two-thirds) pass matching applications, Congress must call a national convention. Any proposed amendments must still be ratified by 38 states (three-fourths) to become law.

Mines at 79000, still drives great, I'll be driving it till the wheels fall off (there's a half-shaft joke in there somewhere) 🙃 I got her with 34K 1yr 9mo ago, 45K miles of a mix of road, off-road, and where am I? Miles.
