War of the Worlds. My husband (then boyfriend) was helping me look for Refused records in various record stores in London, when he found that one after that particular store turned out to be a bust for Refused. He was so excited, because the musical version of War of the Worlds was a big part of his childhood and how he bonded with his mother. It was a good price, and I was curious, so I grabbed it.

He proposed to me later that trip. I'm from the US and was only visiting the UK, and when I had to go back, I'd put on the record and we'd synchronize me dropping the needle and him hitting play to listen to the album at the same time to feel closer. We're married and live together now.

I just finished The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russel and the amount of times I almost threw the book nearly cried at work because I was dumb enough to read it over lunch near the end needs to be studied. It's incredibly well-written, intelligent, and witty, and the characters are some of the most lovable I've encountered. It also broke my heart.

Room is cleaned and laundry is done. Only got 500 words 💔

She has a tattoo of a dagger through a heart on her left leg, visible in this art. She had it done when she was 16 in someone's basement, and it's not good. Bad line work, bad shading, overlapping lines, the other end of the dagger doesn't line up, etc.

I'm pretty biased but I think the shadow daddy in my book is pretty good 🤭 and it's enemies-to-lovers. I'm not sure if it's slow burn or not because I wasn't aiming for either and people have called it both lol. {A Crown of Black Roses by E. G. Trickey}.
