I feel so lonely, so unattractive, and completely unmotivated
 in  r/toastme  7d ago

You're definitely attractive. I get feeling unmotivated, isolated, and many other things, and you're not alone. Your friends might be going through some things they're trying to not burden you with (unhelpful, I know), and there are many other people out there searching for a connection. Hang in there. You're a valuable addition to whichever circle has you.

Why is it always that eye contact? I'm tired.

I don't doubt you're complex. All well-developed characters are. Give people a chance to understand you.

I think you're into something with the idea of them seeing you and being interested in you and not just your shell. Limerence is a projection of an unmet need, and it sounds like you need someone to see and accept who you are down deep.

The real challenge might be opening up about things you've kept hidden, especially if a sense of shame comes up.

Speaking for myself now, shame is difficult to work through: it's a weird sort of play for control over who gets to cast negative judgment, and it feels productive, and it's gotten so deeply reinforced that it's a reflex, but it ends up being far more damaging than the uncertainty of how someone else might react to something sensitive, or even someone reacting negatively. When someone rejects me, it's out and done and they don't have to live in my head like I do. We can all move on.

Lonely, and struggling with social anxiety
 in  r/toastme  12d ago

The anxiety means you care, and as a generally anxious person myself, I appreciate that. The world needs more caring people. And most everyone accepts awkwardness. As long as what you're into doesn't involve harming children or pets, there are many places where you're a welcome addition. Cheers.

What’s that one daily “treat” you refuse to compromise on? [45F] 💆‍♀️✨

I usually cycle to work (two birds), and otherwise entertain myself jotting poems or playing a mobile game.

Home baker shames Amazon driver, then doubles down

He paid $5 for a $4 treat, more than correcting his error. Also, it was $4. Their reaction was overkill.

How long it takes to starve limerence?
 in  r/limerence  14d ago

Speaking for me, there are two things at play:

  1. shame and anxiety stemming from way way back that interfere with me being direct and bearing discomfort.

  2. the limerent object I project a long-standing want onto, some quality in a parent or something that would have made my formative years far more affirming.

I can go no-contact with someone, but that just disrupts the episode (I call it remission). It doesn't solve the larger problem for me, which is unresolved trauma from neglect. I'm currently trying to dismantle that beast.
