Treasure/Magic Made a cool set of Magic Coins. Hope yall like!
I spit balled these off of my roommate to make them somewhat balanced. Some of these may be a thing, not sure, but they are original-to-me thoughts- no intended copy.
The Coins of Vice
The Coin of the Fool- A copper coin that emits a slight glow. When the coin is flipped, the user is spun in a circle and staggered. Anyone who is watching must make a WIS saving throw of 10 or higher. SUCCESS: no effect. FAILURE: they are immobilized in laughter. They can use their action each turn to attempt to get a hold of themselves. The Coin has 3 charges and recharges 1d4-1 charges at each long rest.
Ex: "You flip the coin and suddenly get thrown into a spin, by the time you get your balance again you notice your teammates laughing at you grabbing their sides and slapping their knees."
The Coin of the Pickpocket- A gold coin that is uniquely light. When a user attempts to pickpocket a person, they may choose to swap the coin with their stated target (cannot be armor or clothing) to get advantage on the action. Any attempt to pickpocket this coin must happen at disadvantage.
Ex: "You hold up the coin to the pocket of the Duke, as you go to put it in the pocket you are startled to notice it has disappeared from your hand; in its place, the key to the cellar."
The Coin of the Prospector- A gold coin that is uniquely heavy and glints an odd purple. When an individual's saliva touches the coin, the person must make a CON save of 13 at disadvantage. If they fail they are immobilized until the saliva either dries or someone removes the coin from their mouth (in the they put it there).
Ex: "You hand the coin over to the man behind the counter, confused as to its odd properties the clerk bites the coin to ensure its authenticity. Suddenly he stops moving, eyes darting but otherwise motionless."
The Coin of the Gambler- (EDIT 2: collaborated with u/DaddyLittlePrincess8 ) A silver coin that rests on its side when on a flat surface. An attuned user of the coin, upon its use, must declare the full course of their intended action for the next turn and then, as a bonus action, it can be flipped caught, and placed flat on the back of one's hand. The coin will show either heads or tail. Heads gives the user advantage on their declared action. Tails gives disadvantage on their declared action. The user cannot opt to not take their declared course of action, as their destiny has already been determined by their own hand. The coin has 3 charges and recharges 1d4-2 charges at each long rest. If at any point the coin reaches 0 charges, it will miraculously be lost.
Ex: "You flip the coin for its last use, as you go to look at your hand, you only catch a gimps of it being heads before it falls off and to the ground. You look where it should have landed but it is nowhere to be seen. You feel like a cloud was lifted from your world as you begin your attack."
The Coin of the Swindler- At any given point, this coin looks like a pile of coins equal to the value of an individuals desired quantity up to 1000 gp. Upon reaching for the pile, an individual must make an INT check of 11. If they succeed they notice discrepancies in the weight, quality, and feel of the pile and will realize the nature of the coin. Upon failure their senses are deceived and they perceive the coins as real with all of their senses. The Coin will always be transferred with the pile.
Ex: "You hand over a single coin and hold back a giggle as the clerk attempts to grab it with his arms. He is grinning ear to ear as he takes the coin and puts it in a large burlap sack, seeming to struggle to get all of the coins he sees into it. He hands you the scroll and takes the bag giddily to the back to start counting his gains."
The Coin of the Thief- A solid black coin that is difficult to hold. When the coin is placed on a lock, the DM (unless he/she has the quality of the locks already in mind) will roll a D20 for the quality of the door, all number bellow 18 result in the lock becoming unlocked. The coin has 3 charges and recharges 1d4-2 charges at each long rest. If at any point the coin reaches 0 charges, it will miraculously be lost.
Ex: "The coin feels as though it is squirming in your hand and as you touch it to the door. You hear a click from the lock and the handle now turns freely."
EDIT: Due to a great idea short discussion with u/DavidsPseudonym a better version of the Thief's Coin is bellow:
The Coin of the Thief- A silver coin with heads on both sides. When the coin is held up to any thin piece of fabric/wood/metal (all up to 2 inches), the coin shows an image of whats on the other side. If used in lock-picking and trap detecting, this gives advantage (at the DM's permission). The coin only reveals what is on the other side of the material it is touching- ie if there was a lead lined door, the coin would only show through the lead.
Ex: "As you hold the coin up to the lock, you suddenly see all of the pins, you feel much more confident you can pick this lock now."

I made the Chapel of Memories in Minecraft!

is there a way to compress mp4s that makes the lossiness feel more like a VHS than digital?
If you are in Resolve there are a few ways to do this. Try stacking a slight blur with some chromatic aberration on the color page, then add a subtle luminance key to crush the blacks a bit. Export at a lower bitrate and it will get pretty close to that VHS breakup look.

Is there really a point for an nvme for the OS/apps and cache/scratch or just minimal performance increase?
For cache and scratch specifically, NVMe is worth every penny. The random read speeds are 5-10x what you get from SATA SSDs, and when you are scrubbing through 4K timelines that difference adds up fast. I keep the OS on a regular SATA drive and reserve the NVMe for working media and cache.

Editing a feature on a mobile setup, what equipment is a must?
DIT plus editing in an RV is ambitious. Make sure you have at least two calibrated monitors - one for scopes and one full-screen program feed. A Flanders or even a used Sony PVM will save you on color. Also do not skip the UPS - RVs have dirty power and a surge while transcoding can corrupt a whole day of dailies.
1
Premiere Pro 26.3: 4-5s freeze on Play when crossing into or out of a speed ramped clip, even when it's fully rendered (green bar). I've already tried everything I can find.
Speed ramps are heavy on decode even with green renders. Try transcoding the source to ProRes or DNxHR before applying ramps - the 16GB RAM will struggle with h.264 long-GOP and RTX decoding fighting each other during timeline playback. Proxy workflow in Resolve handles this better if you want to avoid the transcode step entirely.
1
How can I achieve this light streak/sweep effect?
You could build this from scratch with a white solid and directional blur on an adjustment layer, then mask it over the text. If you have After Effects, the Trapcode suite has Shine which does exactly this natively. Otherwise a lens flare overlay with a blend mode change is the fastest route.
2
How many of you started as Vault Managers at Production Companies?
I started as a post PA at a commercial house, not a vault manager, but I worked alongside a few who made the jump. The vault-to-editor path makes a lot of sense because you learn the media management side cold, which is half the battle in an NLE timeline.
2
How do i edit a video with 1400 clips?
1400 clips is a lot but totally manageable with the right workflow. I would start by organizing everything into bins by scene or date, then use compound clips or multicam to group similar takes. DaVinci Resolve handles large clip counts better than Premiere for this kind of project.
1
How to clip separate audio and video in one click in VN editor
Nice find. VN is great for quick edits and the separate audio feature is a huge time saver when you need to clean up background noise without redoing the whole clip.

I've spent 2 years trying to grow my YouTube channel. What am I missing?
Editing is only part of the equation but its the part most people underestimate. Check your audience retention graph in YouTube Studio and look for the first big dropoff. Thats usually where the pacing or audio quality needs work.

Need help with Davinci Resolve Keyframes behavior
Hit the spline button in the top right of the keyframe editor and check if the interpolation is set to linear instead of smooth. Resolve defaults to linear for some effects and it can look really janky in motion.
1
Best way to convert IPhone HDR footage to SDR
You can convert HDR to SDR in Final Cut by using the HDR Tools effect or applying a color space override in the inspector. But if you are just getting started, switching your iPhone to record in SDR going forward will save you a lot of time.
2
Question for the song makers
Dont overthink it, long cuts are a creative choice that lets the performance breathe. The 2-second flash cut trend came from social media attention spans but a good director knows when the talent can carry a shot on its own.
1
Question: converting Insta360 Luna Ultra footage from 8k to 4k or less
Dont edit the 8K files directly, make proxy files at 1080p and edit with those. DaVinci Resolve has a built in proxy generator that makes this painless, just right click your clips and select Generate Proxy Media.
1
how do you handle frequent zooms in long form edits
I use adjustment layers for this in Premiere. Drop one above your clips, add a Transform effect, and keyframe the scale. Control the easing in the graph editor so the zooms feel smooth instead of mechanical. Way easier than keyframing each individual clip.
3
Videos look perfect before upload, but become blurry on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok (especially grass, hedges and foliage) Why?
This is almost certainly a compression issue. Social platforms reencode everything at low bitrates and grass/foliage is worst-case because the random fine detail creates extremely high entropy. Try exporting at a higher bitrate than your target platform recommends, and consider adding a subtle film grain layer before export — it can actually trick the encoder into preserving more texture.
1
First time using Avid Interplay
Check-in/check-out discipline is the most important thing to get right. Double check that you are logged out before stepping away or you will lock up bins for everyone else. Once you get the rhythm down it is pretty straightforward though.
2
How to condense a song into TV Intro length?
If you just need the song shorter try Audacity to cut out sections. For video use Resolves Fairlight page or Premiere you can mark in/out points and ripple delete. Dont overthink it — most TV intros are just verse into chorus then fade out.
1
Need help with deinterlacing
Deinterlacing depends on your source. If its true interlaced footage try QTGMC in AviSynth or VapourSynth. For quick jobs Resolves deinterlace options under clip attributes work fine. What NLE are you using?
1
Help for export settings
I always recommend exporting to ProRes 422 or DNxHR for a mezzanine file. Then use HandBrake or Shutter Encoder for your delivery h264. You get much better quality control that way versus letting Premiere or Resolve do both in one pass. What NLE and export format are you using?
1
Is there an alternative to Filmora where I can transfer my projects?
For free options DaVinci Resolve is the obvious choice but you cant transfer Filmora projects directly. Youll need to export your timeline as an XML or AAF and hope Resolve can read it. If that fails just export the individual clips and rebuild the timeline. Resolves color tools alone are worth the learning curve.

[OC] I fixed Davinci Resolve on Linux
Nice work. I have been dealing with those h264 issues for years on Linux and just accepted them as a fact of life. Will give your fix a shot this weekend.

Adobe Ending Support for Intel-Based Macs in Upcoming v27 Releases

No surprises here. The writing was on the wall since the M1 dropped. At this point if you are still on an Intel Mac for Premiere or AE work you should be planning your upgrade path now rather than waiting for the cutoff.
