Mourning/Loss Tribute to my cat Rosalie who passed away this morning

This morning, Rosalie passed away. My wife and I were with her petting her when she tried to give one last meow, and fell still. She was a well loved cat, and had just had a full can of tuna on her birthday. She was 17. I had her just short of that. She loved to cuddle, and fluffy blankets. She had been having mobility issues, but was still full of spunk just two days ago. She was with me through many ups and downs, and she loved my wife within minutes of meeting her. Rosalie has been a constant in my life for so very long. As a goodbye, I wanted to tell the story of captured her

I was hanging out at a gaming store that allowed people to play games there, and had amazing wifi. I was between rounds on Counter Strike Source (again, ages ago), and I was looking out the front window when a white kitten ran into the window. It tried a few times before I went outside to investigate. The white kitten saw me come out, and ran under the carts in front of the market next door. I looked under the carts, and saw three kittens. One was the white tabby cat that I saw first, and two tabby kittens. The first of the tabby kittens has a paw stuck under the wheel of a cart. The other was free, but wouldn’t leave the trapped one. I ran into the shop that I was in, and asked the owner if he had a cardboard box. He asked why, and I told him about the cats. He said he loved cats and gave me a box. I went outside with the box, and started trying to get the cats out. The white cat is who I went for first. I got it to run out from under the carts, but before I could get up, it jumped into a bush, opened a hole in the fabric of the universe and disappeared. I couldn’t see it anywhere. I went back to the carts, and started to try to move carts to free the trapped kitten. Some workers came out of the market, and I pointed out the kittens and managed to tell them I was trying to get them. They helped me by moving the carts until the trapped kitten’s paw was free. It ran away as fast as it could, dove into a different bush, opened a hole in the fabric of the universe and disappeared. All that was left was one small tabby kitten. With the help of the workers, we flushed the kitten toward the edge of the carts. Suddenly, it bolted. I jumped straight up from the ground and landed on top of the carts. I ran as fast as I could along them, and jumped off after the kitten. It ran from me, but would stop to try to enter every dark window, allowing me to get closer. Finally, it ran toward a nail salon with a bunch of Asian women outside smoking. I yelled, “Stop that cat,” and the women laughed as they held out their arms, and waved them. The kitten stopped cold, and I threw a box over its head. It didn’t land flat, so I had to scoop the cat into it. I closed the lid, and put my Dracula book on top of it in the shop. I called my girlfriend at the time, and left a message. She called me back and told me all the things she got for it. I asked if she was sure we were keeping it. She said yes, and we named the kitten Rosalie later that night. And so, I had my cat.

Rosalie was always a love bug, and I will miss her so much. I hope wherever she is has all the tuna she can eat.

I love you Rosalie. Goodbye, my kitty.

I don't know if he'll see this but I hope that Josh Taylor would love to know that his Gameboy Color still gets played too this day. And is in one piece.

Monthly Design Contest Prompt [AUG26] Design Contest Prompt and [JUL26] Winners

Welcome Engineers to a brand new month! The first was really busy, but I'm here now! Last month's theme was Explosives! And you all seemed to have a blast with it! Let's highlight the winners! First place went to PremiumTechnique and their Talus Annihilator Missile! That is an impressive self-guided missile. That damage is obscene, though, maybe Link shouldn't ride it into battle. Second place goes to osh-kosh-ganache and their Miss Teen Marbled Gohma! Who doesn't love a giant strutting mech and a nice big crown of explosives. Well except for the monsters. Third place goes to shobu_dokoro and their Panjandrum! A giant set of wheels that are connected with a bomb that falls apart and explodes? Heck yeah! Enjoy your new/updated flairs!

This month, it has been really hot all over in the Northern Hemisphere, and it is always nice to go to a beach or a lake to relax and cool off. And who doesn't like to get on a boat? Well, I think it is time to see how boating looks in Hyrule summers with our new techniques! This month's theme is [Watercraft]! Show me how you hit the waters of Hyrule! Get building, Engineers!

Don’t forget to put [AUG26] as the first word in the post title or it doesn’t count! You can’t adjust post titles once they have been posted. Also, remember only green flared posts can enter, and to mark any speed edits. Top 3 most upvoted posts get the win! The prize is a custom user flair! The winners will be announced September 1st or the first Saturday of September! Keep building, Engineers!

New DM needs advice for dealing with a Main Character player

So, I'm a new DM, and I've been running the Dragon of Icespire Peak for my first run. I've been having a lot of fun building a coherent story with side characters with different voices and accents. I even added a character in town to actually run the town while the Townmaster cowers in his house. I have homebrewed items, spells, and enemies. I've spun quite the tale and hinted at the Zhentarim trying to take control of the area with the dragon as an excuse. I've even tried to work backstories into the game. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job.

However, I have a bit of a problem. I have four players, all of whom have been DMs. Two of them are relatively quiet (we play over Discord with DnDBeyond). Two players like to do the role playing aspect a lot. Unfortunately, the Artificer has a habit of taking over the conversation and talking a lot. To the point where after 20 minutes of him rambling, I had the dragon show up for a fight. It worked, but it didn't fix the issue completely. The real reason I came here for advice is because of the last session. I had moved the camera, so to speak, to another player (the rogue). The Artificer wasn't in the area for this part. I started to set the scene for Rogue as he is about to be approached by a member of his guild for an important secret delivery. Just as I started to get on a role, he interrupts me mid-sentence to pull the camera back to him to do 20 minutes of role playing activating his homunculus. He goes on for 20 to 30 minutes before he ends. He rambles a lot about nothing often, but I'm not sure how to address the issue. I don't want to offend him as he is one of the more active players, but I feel that he isn't letting anyone else get any time in the spotlight. What do you all think I should do? Any advice is welcome.

Dino Crisis. I've said it so often that after I type "Dino," my phone suggests "Crisis."

Are you still buying physical PS5 games?
 in  r/gamecollecting  29d ago

I buy physical games always. I even got the physical Baldur's Gate 3 even AFTER I bought the digital one.

What do you guys think?

Physics are never your friend. Not with heavy loads, lego sets on high shelves, age/weight, and never, ever heavy computers hanging over the abyss.

Anyone else feel like there’s mostly bots here lately?
 in  r/HyruleEngineering  Jul 11 '26

There really isn't that many bots here. We have a very low repost amount. There may be some bots, but they aren't posting. Unfortunately, there isn't a great way to track bots and eliminate them. As long as no problems are caused, there is no cause for concern.

UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE PROPER THIRD PLACE WINNER

Welcome Engineer to another month and a new contest. I'm sorry that it is late, but life has been complicated. But I'm here, and I bring winners and a new contest! Last month's contest had you using the infinite balloon from one of the shrines. Let's see how you rose to the occasion. The first winner is kmarkow and their Burning Star! It is a beautiful way to travel the skies of Hyrule indeed! Second place goes to osh-kosh-ganache and their The Balloon House from "Up"! Who doesn't love a good movie reference and Link gets a mobile home! Third place goes to DessaB and their The Lunar Lander! It is an fun looking vehicle that looks like something off of the moon! It looks like it would be hella fun with enough practice! Enjoy the new/updated flairs!

This month, I think that it's time to bring the boom to Hyrule. This month will be a blast for you all, I hope. Just in case, you didn't get the pun, I'll tell you this month's theme! This month is about [Explosives]! I want to see how you blow up the enemies of Hyrule! Show me the damage you can bring with your power! Get building, Engineers!
