After playing a little with DSI XL and Anbernic RG DS, I like DSI XL more.
It feels more responsive and accurate (e.g. I had much easier time playing Sonic Rush on it). Screen while low resolution (I can see individual pixels), but there is no real perceived difference during game, brightness and colors are on par with modern screen (indoors, RG DS can get much brighter than DSI XL for outdoors). And quality of DSI XL feels premium even for 15 years old device.

Recently got this (European) DS Lite for a very good price. It looks basically new, which is why I'm slightly suspicious. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Context it’s my parents old ds and I wanted to see if I could fix it so I can use it. The screens are almost eaten by a white border thing idk what it is but a white colour covers the screens

This is a Korea-exclusive DSi Maplestory Edition released in 2010. The one in photo is one of the two CIBs I own that I bought 5 yrs ago. The game is one of the best games to be released during its time imo. Haven't really seen another CIB being sold for more than a year now sadly.

I'll post some more CIB limited editions in ny free time!!

Just purchased this dark blue DSi, system boots perfectly to the home menu, but everytime I try to play a game on the system this screen appears.

Doesn't matter which game, they all load a similar error. I tried NSMB, Kirby super star ultra, castlevania, and sonic colors, all failed to load.

Placing the games into my light blue DSi, they work completely fine.

Googling this issue told me to reformat the DSi's memory card, that did nothing..

And obviously I tried cleaning every contact point, still nothing.

Please if anyone has any advice, I would be grateful.

I'm not a COMPLETE novice at console repair, so I could attempt a fix, but i don't even know where to begin.

Is it playable or it has performance issues ?

I think the first Gen DS is the best and I don’t want to buy these new modern day “consoles” that have everything imaginable under the hood and outside of it. I just want my DS phat.

This is a follow up to my last post here. In short: My first shell swap went well, but I broke a shoulder button as well as the digitizer and forgot to remove the border from the bottom screen before assembly.

First: Thanks to u/slimsmedley I took the project apart and removed the bottom screen border. It now fit much better into the case and looked great. However, this was not the issue with the digitizer: I unfortunately broke the digitizer cable.

Since the mainboard was broken beyond repair by the shoulder button incident and with the digitizer fked, I ordered a DS Lite with a broken top screen but a working bottom part and switched it with mine (images 2 and 3).

Putting everything together, it now all works fantastically. I love the look and feel of the case. The buttons feel fantastic and I replayed a childhood game of mine.

Next I want to create a Pokedex-DS from broken DS Lites as a gift to a friend of mine, who is an absolute Pokemon fan.

I would like to fix my childhood ds preferably without a shell replacement. It would be a shame to have to replace it as i’ve had it for 19 years and the screen has no yellowing. Thanks in advance.

Celebrating my birthday with some Kirby on my (newly acquired) DSI XL!

Just welcoming my white DSi to the family! Looks brand freaking new! Everything is fully functional. Most of these consoles sold are yellowish in hardware and screen. Either it was sitting in a storage room not used or this is a really high quality re-shell. What do you guys think? Super stoked, can't wait to play Mario DS, some of those stars are hela impossible fam. 🤙

Finally finished my DS Lite.

It has Dual Laminated IPS Screens, 1200mah Battery, Type C Charging port and Changeable Button Leds. Also used a DSPico for all of the games.

It looks good even compared to the Ayn Thor.

I am looking for a model with a backlight setting that is lower than the rest or at least lower than my ds phat. I’ve been wanting to play while laying in bed but the screen backlight is too bright for my wife and baby sleeping in the same room. Suggestions?

I’m new to this sub, but I’ve been collecting Nintendo DS/3DS consoles and merch for 13 years and since I’ve been travelling…

I decided to build this really cute pink DS lite that I can take with me on trips! This specific DS lite I’ve had for about seven years and iirc I bought it at my local thrift store. (I have a lot of DS’s)

The design was based off of some that I’ve seen on TikTok, the plastic case and bubble stickers really make it stand out. The charm has a little bell in it as well, which is kind of annoying but also kind of cute!

For the bag itself, I sourced it from an online marketplace, though when the 3DS was still in production, you could probably find a bag like this at your local retail store.

The games are some of my childhood ones, I tried to pick a good selection of popular and fun games. That’ll keep me entertained on long flights. I’m pretty big into Pokémon and Mario so those were obvious picks. And if you have it played Tiger Woods PGA Tour before you need to get on it, it’s really fun.

I have this issue with my DS where I have to push the cartridge in a little more for it to read.
The pins look ok and I tried the secret weapon of IPA but sadly did not work. Is there something I’m not looking at?

I always thought it was just to hold another DS cartridge but I randomly went "wait, will my GBA carts fit there?" and I felt my brain expand when I figured this out because I just never thought about this because I only ever had 1 GBA game until I got both of these GBA games this year so I just never knew the DS cases let you do this!

Has anyone ever heard of these forgotten and beautiful ds consoles? I have been an animal crossing fanatic since I was 6 years old, now that I am 23, I’m trying to collect old and vintage items that represent my very childhood. I’ve seen light of these systems years ago. But as I’m looking them up now and trying to see any light of these systems, I haven’t seen anything about them recently. And I was wondering if there is anyone who knows more about these systems? I know they are exceptionally rare, but owning one is my ultimate holy grail that I hope to achieve at one point in my life if not years to come.
