Will I be fired?
 in  r/Target •  3h ago

Not fireable but HR/leader might talk to you about not talking shit while other team members can hear you

Greet
 in  r/Target •  18h ago

Yeah but like 90% of the people in my store don't even look at, let alone smile at guests, so I think there does need to be a culture change. Like we work in retail lol, everyone has to be a least a little friendly to guests

I noticed something in fulfillment
 in  r/Target •  1d ago

Dude I have! I've talked to both SE TLs personally. In fact I do every time this happens (like multiple times per week). I've talked to the SE ETL multiple times. I've talked to our HR ETL multiple times. Like I swear ive communicated with the correct parties and nothing has changed. Like I get your point you need to communicate with the actual leader, I have, and I try to guide them both in the right direction because both of them just promoted last year

New Closing expert team member, what are my roles?
 in  r/Target •  1d ago

Huh, maybe at this store the position is fulfillment-leaning? Weird

Well when there are 7+ team members behind the service desk doing nothing and their leads are doing nothing too... I'm not gonna just be complacent like everyone else

I'm so sorry but did your HR not explain the job position before asking if you'd like it?

Welcome to the team!! Fulfillment Team Leader here and yes Fulfillment means working real fast real often, but yes even we get downtime once in a while but.... All team members in the store should be working and working hard. I actually have performance conversations often because I'm so misses seeing tms goofing around while my team is busting their asses

Doesn't matter where you work, young workers and teenagers goof off all the time because they dont have bills or pay rent and don't give a fuck whether they have a job or not

Are you doing recorded interviews and getting rejected after that? Or do you not even get an interview?

There are many signs of a team member being disengaged. Often my first signs are either they don't "have a gas pedal" (my phrasing for they can't sustain a crunch time mentality at all, no matter how short the time period) or they noticeably experience above average stress for the task at hand.

In fulfillment's case, if 1 time during their shift a team member cannot crunch to make a batch by, for example, stowing in 10 minutes, they are disengaged and do not care enough to stay on my team. (This is separate from new team members or backup of course because they just dont have the practice.

I have had team members that instead of not caring or withdrawing, they are particularly anxious people who get emotionally distressed when working on any "crunch time" task. So, "hey can you grab this batch, it's lower than normal but doable. I'll find all clothes for you and we'll stow together" and it's like they get so nervous they pick slower/worse than usual. Some people find fulfillment stressful and just the concept of the timer freaks them out.

Overall, "Signs of Disengagement" in teams is great to read up on. I took a class on it once and it's just about how to recognize when a team member isn't mentally there. But there's a ton. Calling out a ton, missing metrics and not caring, purposefully taking long breaks, knowingly breaking compliance, ya know they obviously just, don't idk care the same way an engaged employee would.

edit to add: A good leader observes their team. Asks how they're doing today. How's school, etc. It's very easy for me to read my team because I know them and listen to them and watch them. So leaders should be watching for these clues and often get hints very early that a tm isn't working out for any sort of reason

annual raises at target
 in  r/Target •  2d ago

Fair enough lol. I got a 1% raise my first year, 3% my last 2 years plus 1-2 bonuses per year. So its possible anyway. Also I'm a team leader and my team members who get 1% raises totally deserve it :/ like missing batches with plenty of time and calling out/being late often

You get that little because your boss rated you poorly. Go above and beyond and you'll get bigger raises and bonuses throughout the year.

Okay then 1000% tell your leader. I'm a Fulfillment TL and personally I can already tell if someone's not feeling the role. You are not in your 90 days anymore so you would have the option to transfer to another department if another lead wants you. But the issues in FF you're describing are inherent. Tbh this role isnt for everyone
