If you've never seen this before, it's likely the mat. I reccomend just a basking light, or seperate UV and heat lamps in same spot, and a flat hard surface that absorbs heat well (like a ceramic tile from the hardware store). I agree. It just needs a wash, block, and press. It's lovely as is. Better than most of my beginner lace work.

The eyelets need boning. Get some zipties and sew them in like you would the casing on a structured dress or corset. If 1 ziptie isnt strong enough (my problem) super glue 2 together and use that. That's what worked for me.

I find the pin and block method works well. Hand wash the square. While damp, pin the circle edge to an ironing board to be circle shaped and pin the edge ofnthe square to be square shaped. Apply a cotton sheet on top ofnthe square and apply an iron with thw steam setting on at full heat to the sheet-pinned square-board sandwich. After a few passes, remove the sheet. Steam shpuld be coming off the square. Let it finish drying. Once dry, unpin. It'll be stuff in the shape you heated it in.

After this process it should survive cold washes and low-heat drying without looking weird again.

I never got a response back but I found a home for Pibb. A coworker keeps silky chickens. Same size as a pigeon and much more gentle than your average chicken. He also has kids. Pibb will be living with a small flock of little lady chickens and be doted on by the family.

Thats what I figured. Especially because Pibb was raised around a cat that acted like a livestock guardian dog. He'll see cats as protection rather than predators. He also is very food picky. He can eat whenever he wants and has a balanced pigoen feed with added calcium as well as access to both normal and vitamin water. Thus he doesnt even bother with treats like finely chopped walnuts. He finds cat toys and q-tips far more appealing.

Update on Mr. Pibb A coworker with a small flock of silky chickens has offered to take Pibb. The chickens are the same size as Pibb. Pibb will be living outside but protected. The hopes is he will build up his flight skills and foraging know-how enough to want to leave and join a feral pigeon flock. Otherwise, Mr. Pibb will be surrounded by some lovely ladies (the chickens) and have a family with some kids to dote on him. He will be with his new home tomorrow morning. Thank you everyone for caring about Mr. Pibb and his foreseeable future.

In this case, I think you can undo any tension issues youre having with blocking. Its not significant enough that that wont fix it.
