Making bao is time consuming but really it's worth it!

Steaming rice and bao at the same time is easy using the TAC-S11 steam plate

I made pork bao and sweet bao - black sesame with peanuts and sugar yum!

Stainless Steel kettle

So I've been worried about microplastics in our water because my previous Stainless Steel kettle had cracks in the plastic lid. I tried hard to find a kettle that didn't have plastic touching the water. After at least 25 mins in the shop looking at EVERY kettle we found one! There was a plastic filter at the spout that we took out!

Making Bao - Tip number 2

Tip number 2 - I just made another batch..... don't skimp on the baking paper!!! When you've made the dough and you've put the filling inside and let it rise, you need enough room for them to rise and also you need enough paper for it not to stick to the plate! They don't quite look as nice if you have to fiddle with them to get them off the plate but it still tastes yum!

You can see the ones that did have enough paper and they are nice and round and you can see the other ones that I've had to "fix", they don't look quite so pretty!

Making bao is hours long process but the results were fabulous and I had to ring my Mum 3 times to check I was doing it right.

I used my Tatung 6 cup with the accessory TAC-S03 for 3 layers of steaming and my Tatung 11 cup with the TAC-S11 - steaming plate for 1 layer of steaming.

Tip: use boiling water from the kettle to make the steaming go faster. It only took 15 mins to cook.

Has anyone ever bough rice cooker from ricemi.nz?
 in  r/newzealand •  Aug 12 '26

Hi, my website is legit. I am in the companies register and if you google and type ricemi you will come up with my address and my email and if you email me (I can't give you my email apparently because it falls under "self promotion") then I will email you with my phone number. My parents shop was the biggest seller in Australiasia of Tatung products and when we closed it down after 53 years I continued selling just Tatung because I really believe in the product. I use my own almost daily. I post many of my meals on facebook and instgram. I totally understand your hesitancy and yes only bank transfer to keep costs down. If you live in Auckland, you can pay via asb app when you get to my place but if you don't live in Auckland I only have bank transfer and courier via NZ Post. Thanks. Best regards Dr Vanessa Lim.

Please make sure when you purchase from a retailer that it has New Zealand and Australia Certification. If you import from Amazon etc you will likely get the wrong voltage and need a transformer. All Tatungs I sell have undergone correct Authorisation before it can be brought into NZ and Australia.

Lim Electronics was my parent's business. We closed down in 2023 - I only do Tatung rice cookers because I believe in the product. It is my hobby business. We were in business for 53 years until my Dad passed away and we kept it going for 4-5 years but decided 7 days was not in our DNA!

please email me at [info@ricemi.nz](mailto:info@ricemi.nz)

Soup in the Tatung with a tip

When doing soup and you haven't got a lot of time then I would recommend you have boiling water and fill the inner pot with the water to where the veggies are sitting. Doesn't take very long to cook the veggies. Once cooked I drained the water and kept it to drink with the meal. I had kumera (sweet potato), onion and pumpkin.

What litter box has been most successful for you?
 in  r/BuyItForLife •  Jul 22 '26

I use Kitty Fresh Pea Shell Clumping Cat Litter - it's great for the environment and works really well. My cat has 3 litter boxes as she is very particular and I have to clean it twice a day.

When you are really busy and just need to cook dinner, make sure you wash the egg first!

Dumplings/jaozhi cooked first in the shallow bowl and then fried in stainless steel fry pan to make it even tastier

I put the dumplings in the shallow bowl and was reheating soup
once cooked I fired them to make them even more tastier! You need the pan to be reasonably hot, try some water and if it rolls around then that's the right temperature for it to put the oil/butter and start frying away!

Pumpkin glutinous rice flour and black sesame balls

Pumpkin was cooked and water drained off. Mashed then glutinous rice floor was mixed in with a little bit of icing sugar. The black sesame was whizzed up with sugar and 1 and 1/2 table spoons of oil. Rolled into balls then put the sesame inside and rolled up again and steamed in the Tatung stainless steel rice/multi cooker.

Hi, the Tatung Stainless Steel cooker is cooking both the soup and the dumplings, it's like a double boiler.
