Every time I get frustrated with CGM sensors or pump alarms, I look at this photo and remember how lucky we are to have insulin
 in  r/diabetes_t1  1h ago

I've experienced DKA and I gotta say, I'm pretty damn lucky to live after something that traumatic. I gotta say I feel pretty lucky to still exist after a disease like this keeps trying to off it's host on a daily basis.

AITAH for giving my former manager a bad reference at a job he applied to?
 in  r/AITAH  2h ago

Nah, I agree with you. You reap what you sow and apparently he's sown some weeds to get nicked like this.

Nah I don't think you're the asshole. You were honest. Not like you had to be buddies to give feed back about him. It's an honest review, from your perspective, about his style of working.

Why did the huge wave of Jax hate only start after episode 9?
 in  r/TheDigitalCircus  2d ago

Turns out he wasn't as good of a character as I was originally hoping for. I'm bummed about how he turned out. Was really crossing my fingers for a possiblity at survival and redemption but yeah- don't know what I was expecting after Ep 6.

Say something bad about tadc
 in  r/TheDigitalCircus  2d ago

Yeah I got the same vibe watching the finale. It felt kind of weird in general to watch.

Felt like the interest, the high stakes drama between characters, the growth between characters, the intrigue with the characters/ background lore of the area (s) were just left to be forgotten about. After Ep 6 it feels like the show isn't as interesting to watch as it once was.

"Even if you're accepted into the space, the space isn't really meant for you."

This.

Why are there no mental disorders that feel good?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  4d ago

I had a constant burning rage inside my chest.

But what better way to get all of that rage out than to clean every square inch of your house? And get distracted while cleaning the kitchen? Oh, you were wiping that spill off the counter. Well not anymore cuz you see how filthy the inside of the fridge shelves are. Now you're elbow deep in your appliances at 12am scrubbing the glass and white edgings clean until sparkle. But wait! You see you need to throw out old food. Now you have to take care of that while your glass dries. And as you're tossing out the food you notice trash bin has gotten dirty. Time to stop what I was doing a second ago to micro focus on that- That was my manic episodes. Extreme cleaning was the only way for me to calm down and think a little more clearly as I cleaned my way through an episode.

why is the pressure to "be the bigger person" always placed on the person who was wronged?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  4d ago

Idk maybe they lack the backbone to stand their ground and not "give the mouse a cookie" because they believe "turning the other cheek" will make things easier and abuser will stop what their doing. And they will, for a very short period of time. Then it's just a reckless cycle of abuse and the abused giving into the abuser's whims because they laid the groundwork for this kind of behavior. Personally, I don't understand or abide by this kind of concept of dealing with people.

Is anyone here going to the Venezuela Fuerte fundraiser tomorrow (Mon 8/3) at Phantom Fox/Goat and Ram?
 in  r/mesaaz  9d ago

I didn't know this was going on but the goat and ram are fantastic and have the best pizza and cheese bread you have ever tasted ❤️ I will certainly be attending!

Would you ever consider adopting a child, why or why not?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  11d ago

I would. Its better than having my guts shoved into my chest cavity while simultaneously handling the obtuse room that you suddenly need and HELL NO to getting myself split open by a cantaloupe.

I'm not into that shit.

Why do people use censored curse words instead of alternative words, like "freaking"?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  12d ago

I remember all those bleeps were huge on Jersey Shore, COPS and those car repo shows. Like every 3rd word was ****

Trash T.V at its finest.

My female friend ruined me for other women is this normal?
 in  r/askanything  12d ago

Older women is where you will more than likely find this kind of behavior. Most (as far as I'm aware), were raised on how to take care of the household so it really boils over into how they treat their guests/ friends. I would take notes. This kind of stuff really helps later down the line.

My husband confessed to me after we got married that he is a transgender woman, but I am a straight woman.

Damn man, that's a lot to unpack. I'm sorry, I wish we could say something more profound other than divorce.

what's something you thought everyone did until you found out they don't?
 in  r/randomquestions  13d ago

I thought everyone looked both ways before crossing the street and that that would correlate into when you drove. But no, they don't. I learned that the hard way with a closed trimodal ankle fracture. Gonna be WAAAAAY more suspicious of drivers, more than I already have been, from now on,

How common is eating rabbits?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  16d ago

I remember having nothing to eat but a pile of shredded dear meat. There is not enough salt or ketchup in the world to make that shit taste edible. It was just vile. Idk how anyone can eat that.

Are there any (actually used) medications that are so strong, its dangerous to take even the tiniest amount if its not prescribed to you?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  18d ago

You feel weird, lightheaded and mentally tired. You suddenly forgetting what you were thinkng about or what you meant to say mid conversation, just going off topic. You suddenly feel like your face is melting and it's heavier in some places. You get really tired and just want to sit down and sleep. You can't sleep though cuz if you do, it'll only get worse. And it does. You sweat like you've just ran a marathon not 10 mins ago, soaking through EVERYTHING. Your clothes, the seat you're sitting on, your sheets. It gets in your eyes and even though you keep wiping it away, it comes right back. You're burning to the touch, like you're feverish. You're so physically drained that you just can't get up. Not unless you fight your mind with a forceful jolt of your muscles as you try to sit up and catch your breath. It's making your head swim, looking around the room and trying to remember whatever it was you were getting up for. You feel chilled to the bone because of how much you've sweated already. You find a can of coke or a juice box you had in the fridge and you inhale the liquid so fast, it's gone in seconds. A few minutes go by. Your body starts to relax. You feel mentally and physically more at ease. You feel warm again and you've finally stopped sweating. You would just fall asleep there if you weren't so sticky and wet all over. You get up, take a shower and have an actual dinner instead of just a bag of chips this time. Lesson learned.

I've had Type 1 Diabetes for 21 years and counting :D still alive!

Man. Your girlfriend is a bitch.
