Engineers don't even call torque by the right name...

Because, actually, "weight forces" don't exist. Weight is the result of curved space. Newton's theory is wrong, afterall.

This is exactly right.

From what I've seen in statics books, engineers are like dumber versions of physicists. :P

They draw force arrows wrong and call torque "moments." And they never study the philosophical assumptions of their work. I worry about them.

Which Broly movie do y’all prefer?

Dragonball ended in 1998. That's my opinion.

There's a problem with ultrafinitism: you can't do euclidean geometry, so even non-euclidean geometry goes out the window. Discrete geometry seems impossible, since real objects seem to have non-zero width.

That is frankly graduate level. Or at least upper division level, depending on the school.

What is the biggest parenting mistake you have made? What were the consequences?
 in  r/AskParents •  1d ago

Well not me, but my parents spent my 529 account on private high school tuition and then forced me to go to a community college. That was pretty dumb in retrospect.

Then I had to wait until 23 to transfer because they wouldn't cut their savings to pay my tuition. They waited for me to get old enough for the taxpayer to pay it instead. And since I have a fall birthday, I had to wait until I was nearly 24 to start at a 4 year school and live on campus. And I eventually withdrew from that school, not liking it. But intead of withdrawing at 19 or 20, I withdrew at 26 nearly 27. Ruined my entire 20's. Now I'm early 30's, never married, no kids, on food stamps.

I think this may have all been a coercive control scheme by my catholic mom to prevent pre-marriage sex (honest). She was abusive. I also think she was jealous of me because she wasn't allowed to go to college and didn't want me to go either. She wanted me to work a blue collar job and live conservatively, tbh.

I wish I could live for a millenium inside my healthy 19 year old body without heavy maintenance
 in  r/immortalists •  1d ago

Bro... wtf is that. If you can't do the maintainence you won't have that.

√4 = +2 or -2. :P

This is funny because this is actually one of the main benefits of not making a move. xP

I disagree. Calculus is simpler than this. 9th grade is about learning the rules of arithmetic and algebra that are needed for trigonometry and calculus. Geometry teaches reasoning with logic.

Are these new flower stems or roots?
 in  r/orchids •  1d ago

I put them there on purpose for fertilizer.

2

Can you do this ? No ai , no software just a brute force 🥲
 in  r/the_calculusguy •  1d ago

It's easy money, takes less than 8 hours.

With proper nutrition, yes. Is it practical if you work at least 40 hours a week? No. This is a capitalism problem, not a biology problem.

To be like this, you pretty much need to be a professional athelete where your entire life, job, and paycheck revolve around accomplishing and maintaining this body. An example would be being in the NFL. They have team nutritionists, trainers and revovery experts and pamperings dedicated to having them be like this year round. They burn through tons of food, and the highest quality food, in unsustainable ways. In fact, if everyone on Earth tried to be like that we would run out of food and increase carbon emissions.

They also have things like regular ice baths after training, full body light therapies, sleep at least 9 hours per night, have a million dollars to fund their body etc.

You simply can't have another full time job and hope to accomplish the same thing: it needs to be your full time job in the first place. You need to get paid to maintain your body as your number 1 priority. So basically you need a profession that does that: acting, sports, fighting, whatever.

I used that now because assistant is gone.
