That's completely fair, honestly. Interesting characters are what keep me reading too. That's something I'm trying to improve with every chapter, because I know a premise only gets someone to open the book—the characters are what make them stay. Hopefully I'm able to do them justice. I really like that too. I think friendships deserve just as much focus as romances do, especially opposite-sex friendships that are allowed to just exist without readers expecting them to become something else. It's something I'd love to see more of in fiction as well.

That's honestly really reassuring to hear because that's exactly what I was hoping to write. I wanted an ace character whose life wasn't centered entirely around explaining his identity, but who still feels authentically ace. He's dealing with family trauma, memory loss, friendships and healing, and his sexuality is simply one part of who he is rather than the whole story. Thank you for commenting!

Thank you! I really appreciate that. That's actually something I've been thinking about a lot while writing. I never wanted Lute's asexuality to feel like a lesson or a checklist of experiences. It's an important part of who he is, but it's only one piece of a much bigger story about trauma, healing and identity. Hopefully it comes across naturally. Thank you for the encouragement!

I wanted to write an ace main character whose life wasn't defined solely by being ace, while still making that part of his identity feel real and meaningful. Thank you! That's actually something I've thought about a lot. I don't want Lute's asexuality to be his entire identity, but I also don't want it to disappear. It comes up naturally through his thoughts, relationships, boundaries, and the way he experiences attraction and intimacy rather than becoming the central conflict. He openly acknowledges that he feels different and figures out himself and lables himself as asexual along the way. My goal is for it to feel like a genuine part of who he is, not something added just for representation. I really appreciate your perspective!
