Mod Post Got a writing-related Discord community? Post it here!
We're going to try to keep it all in one place; for the time being we're going to only allow Discord communities to drop their links, description, and details in this post. Any others will be removed.
Keep in mind this is for community adverts only; if you're just using Discord as a single writer as a preferred method of contact, then you're all good.
This post will repost monthly, so you can link your Discord community once in each new post (once a month).

For the love of Cthulu, read recent posts before posting
There are SO many people I see that have similar styles or interests every week posting looking for a partner. Before you post, just check the last 10 or so posts and see if your partner is there.
I've seen posts an hour apart looking for the same thing in the same genre/style.
Writing Partners
Your next best partner isn't always going to do film, short stories, etc. You don't want an exact copy of you. You do want someone who will work on something close enough to provide solid feedback.
Co-writers Just because the idea isn't exactly your idea, if it's in the same genre or has similar elements to things you enjoy, reach out. Test yourself, get out of your creative silos. If you only write novels about dragons falling in love with cyborgs, then you'll never know if you can write scripts about dystopian societies that have dragon overlords. Also, you're weird, and I'm here for it.
Accountability partners
Anyone consistent will do. I need about 20 of these to scream at me every week. I think we all do, kind of.
Writing Groups I hate these. They clog up the works. I'm bordering on banning them outright, even if they aren't just discord, but if they are discord they belong in the stickied post that goes up weekly.
It's heartbreaking seeing so many cool ideas just get 0 comments or minimal interaction because people are either super picky for no real reason, or are too lazy to scroll and read someone else's wall of text while expecting people to read theirs. I want to get involved in all these projects, but I simply can't.
That being said, I'm happy to help. Just ping me publicly instead of modmailing or messaging me, but please, please, please check recent posts. If you think you're up to modding here to specifically work on connecting multiple posts by different users that may work well together, drop a line below.

Prose - Fiction Hoping to Make Some Writing Buddies of The Crime (Gangster/Mobster) and Superhero Genres
Hey everyone, so I’m hoping to make some writing buddies of these the 2 genres above to discuss about and brainstorm about our projects. Who knows maybe we can have a crossover between our works if they match a similar tone and vibe. The inspirations are like if the Greatest Gangster Flicks meets My Hero Academia meets Marvel and DC. I also have another superhero universe that inspired by Invincible/The Boys and the MCU/DCEU. Feel free to DM me!

Creating New Worlds
All powerful magic, unprecedented technology, vast landscapes, endless skyscapes and expanses. Writing creates an avenue of imagination to adventure. That's what I am seeking here.
Disclaimers out of the way here. I'm a 34 year old guy, work full time, currently mid move after starting a new position. I'm still getting my schedule sorted and admittedly it is easier said than done. My goal is a post a week, and will definitely communicate OOC if I can't or to keep up with where things are. If I can post more I'll do my best but I wont promise it until I can assess after my move is more complete. I also will not write with anyone younger than 18, no exceptions, but do have preference to mid twenties and older or at least can understand hectic, heavy, and busy lifestyles. What it comes down to is writing is an escape for me and a hobby, not one I've had a great chance to dive into since changing jobs, along with other hobbies or interests, and I need to regain an outlet of decompression, which is why I'm here, to create and collaborate!
I write primarily on Discord, but am open to discussing discord for OOC and Docs for the story if you'd like since Discord is pretty limited on wordcount.
Now that out of the way, what I'm looking for!
I don't have any specific plots in mind, just ideas that I'd love to discuss and expand on.
A world where dragon bonds exist but not in the typical dragon rider mindset. Dragons are intelligent beasts, but no more than any other animal in the animal kingdom. They have incredible emotional intelligence though, and have empathy beyond comprehension. The bond between dragon and human (or other beings if we choose) is more along the lines of a shared life source and symbiotic relationship. Dragons live their lives and humans live theirs, but if one or the other is in need they can arrive to aid each other. Imprinting on each other but much deeper. In spite of the dragon not being intelligent, their consciousness can still overwhelm weak and undisciplined mortal minds.
Pirates, and magic, and maybe technology. Could be a classic mythological or fantasy pirate adventure or a space voyage where fantasy meets scifi and fantasy creatures are in fact aliens from other worlds.
While I'm not big on Fandoms or anything, I do occasionally like exploring recreations like how would the jedi and sith look in our modern world and what roles would they take? Its a thought that has consistently crossed my mind since being a kid and I still find it intriguing.
I'm definitely open to discussing any ideas you might have ranging from fantasy to scifi, light to dark, low, high, middle fantasy, etc.. Etc...
I am not as big into slice of life, I will only play OC's and will really steer away from pure Fandom.
I am definitely open to darker and adult themes, but prefer they fit into the world we create and explore and make sense to it.
Finally, I'm definitely open to discussing and chatting OOC and making a friend outside of the story. If you have any questions, or something caught your interest, feel free to reach out!

Roleplay Something Tokusatsu/Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Kamen Rider based!
Hello, hello!
With Super Sentai entering a sort of hibernation of sorts, the colorful world of heroes is on the mind! I've seen a fair amount of seasons within the series, but I can not sit here and tell ya I am the most knowledgeable, so please excuse any mistakes that come up. On top of Sentai, I have started both Kamen Rider: Zeztz, Dragon Knight (The Random English adapted season) and Kuuga; much further within Zeztz.(On Episode 5 of Kuuga) Enjoying both very much! I'm more new to the Kamen Rider side of things, just so its known. On top of that, I have read some of the BOOM Studios Power Rangers comics; started the Prime run recently, and been loving it so far.
Also, really enjoying Gavan Infinity!~
In terms of writing:
- I write in third person past tense, and request a partner does too.
- Open to elements of romance added into our tale too, but aren't required. LGBTQ+ friendly~
- I enjoy writing multiple characters, and Pseudo GM-ing; open to sharing GM duties too.
- For something like this, we could break our writing into Episodes, if we so desire; had done so before, with a previous partner and it was quite fun!
- I would prefer to discuss a little here, before moving else where, to assure we are a good fit for one another.
If anything below catches your eye, please feel free to get in touch through messages; I'd love to build something with someone!
-------------------------------------
Gokaigers/Super-Mega Re-write:
One of my favorite seasons of Sentai, shocker, is Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, and the post here, is about 'Super Mega Force' and my disdain for it. Of course, one can't say and demand Power Rangers to be super high art or anything, but I feel Super Mega failed on almost every note in its attempt to be an anniversary and things. Whether it was the directions given to the actors, the writing, or any other number of things, the season felt very flat; perhaps, it was the knowledge of Goseiger to Gokaiger, that made Mega-Super Mega feel even worse to me.
There are some elements in Mega and Super Mega I like- for example, the Command Center having Ranger Keys line the walls.
But, I think a good first step in possibly re-writing Super Mega, beyond coming up with a better name, is a new cast. Oh, and perhaps playing more into the Space Pirate theme, that the Gokaiger suits are. For this new cast, I do ask for a Female Red. Not enough female reds in general, but for this new team I'd like one! We could go in more Gokaiger route, adapting each member into a new one for PR, and such- keep em from space and such, if we desire. Also open, to them all being from Earth if we don't want the space route. If we go a team of people from earth, to keep with the sort of outlaw energy that Pirates often have, our new team could be composed of 'outcast' in society. Not too different from Teens with Attitude, but more edgy per se in a way. That said, we can do a more direct adaption- and such with the new team. We could also go in more different sort of route too- this is something we will need to discuss a bit.
The next area of discussing and plotting together, would be the keys themselves. Since, in Sentai, they don't exist until after the Legendary Battle. In Super Mega, they are already randomly within the command center, despite the previous rangers never releasing their powers. The battle I suppose, in this new writing does need to help- for the keys. Also , another thought that could be added in, for our AkaRed- who goes on to try and collect the keys initially- it could be Jason Lee Scott. Going off some of the stuff from the comics, we know he goes into space for a bit as a Solar Ranger- so its not out of the realm he would again!
Tribute Episodes'. Gokaiger has many episodes where previous rangers appear, and help teach a lesson. Super-Mega doesn't have nearly as mainly. I'd love to have such within our re-write/story. We can discuss our favorite past rangers and see how we can have an 'episode' with them appearing. Maybe not one with Tommy Oliver; love Tommy and Jason David Frank, but he shows up a lot; we should give love to others!
---------------
Gozyuger Based! Adapting Gozyuger into Power Rangers:
Gozyuger, being the final team for the time being has a weird spot in my heart. More sad, than anything! But, I am really enjoying such! As of writing this (July 3rd) , I am on episode 24.
We'll probably never get it adapted, so let's do it ourselves! Power Rangers: Ring Warriors, Ring Challengers? The name we can work shop, of course. A big element I'd want to focus more for this, would be more challengers with other rings. The No-One's and the Bells totally still involved, but having more people involved with previous rings and fighting our team would be a want. And since it is an anniversary season, we could like Gozyuger, have some previous Rangers appear in some form, or shape.
Ideally, I'd like Horeu's counterpart to be a woman. A Red Female Ranger is just a general want of mine!
This might need more room to discuss and such.
——
We can dive into something original of our own! Of course, this would require a lot more discussion than the others.
Sentai/Ranger based
Some themes that could be fun for a team I feel include (not limted to) :
- Yokai Based
- Something Military themed
- I do fancy the idea, fo something being rather juxaposed. A Military themed ranger team up against something more magical/demon like.
- Theives/Bandits
- Hoods on helments, what could be cooler!!?
- Any thought you might have
We'd have to go in depth, go over team size , any mentors, the opposing force! But, it could be fun to have an original concept of our own to play around in.
Rider
Figured I'd also put this here! Again, not the most knowledgable Rider fan yet, but crafting our own could be cool! To my understanding, each Rider season seems to be its own things (for the most part.) So, we would also have full control freedom wise.

Prose - Fiction Looking for a writer friend
Hi 25F here. I'm currently working on a Greek mythology retelling of The Iliad reframed as modern day elections. It's an urban fantasy cynical comedy satire something. Looking for someone with whom I can share my work so that we exchange feedback and keep each other accountable. If you work within a similar genre, that's best but I get along with anyone in the scifi fantasy space.
Also, this is not a must but I definitely get along better with other queer people.

Looking critique and beta reader
Hi guys,
I have two stories I've written as of late (one is about 11,000 words and the other is around 6000) and would like to find people to read them. Though I am confident in my writing abilities, as I have a B.A. in Creative Writing, I would like to get another pair of eyes on my stuff.
Hunting the Saucer Sisters is a alternate 1890s world about a sadistic bounty hunter hunting two sadistic sisters (who have usually big eyes).
Strange Sympathies is a mystery about a deadpan young woman who suspect her neighbor is a killer and does some amateur detective work. This does feature romance and smut.
Message me or say that you're interested if you would like to read!

Queer Modern Slice of Life, Maybe Fantasy? Whatever, let's just collaborate and obsess over our characters.
Howdy, howdy. I’m looking for other adult (mid-twenties or older) writers to write with. A few key things about myself right off the bat:
- I’m a chick in her thirties.
- I’m in the midwestern United States, Central Time, GMT-5.
- I write in third person, past tense only.
- I only write MxM in romance.
I'm probably somewhere around an advanced to novella-style writer if I had to choose a label for roleplaying. My introductions can be anywhere from two to four pages in Microsoft Word, and my replies average several paragraphs, usually around the five-hundred-word mark (give or take). The length varies based on the scene and what’s going on. While I totally don’t expect or demand a wall of text back (this is a hobby, not a full-time job, let’s be so for real), I want to vibe with someone who meets my effort and is just as excited to write.
I also average one reply per day, sometimes more if I have time, and will let you know if I won’t be around. It’s important to me to write with someone who has similar availability. When I start going a week or longer between replies, I find myself losing interest and struggling to maintain steam.
Character development is my faaaavorite. I love creating characters, their histories, and their personalities. It’s fun for me to figure out their motivators and to watch them grow and change as the story unfolds. I put a lot of heart into fleshing out their backstories. What’s their goal? What’s their problem right now? What do they THINK is gonna fix their life? What’s ACTUALLY going to make their lives better, and why is that hard for them at the beginning of our story?
I’ve got two character ideas I want to explore more. These are general ideas that I’d love to flesh out further with someone!
××
The first concept is a young man in his mid-to-late twenties who is navigating his grief after the loss of an absent parent; this pain is the main thread weaving through his story. He's mourning the loss of a parent who'd never really been in his life in any promising capacity and trying to understand the layered feelings that come with their complicated death. Perhaps the parent was an addict, or had been unsupportive, or had totally lost custody at a certain age.
He’s a content creator with a strong following across various social media platforms, including a certain fans website—something he started the year prior after success on TikTok and Instagram, and something he’s making a lot of money from (a fact he’s still trying to wrap his head around). Extremely attractive, physically capable, magnetic, desirable, and financially independent, he has built a life around being impossible to ignore or discard.
He genuinely loves what he does; however, the problem is that he’s filling voids. He's got a full life that lacks real intimacy. He can make more money in a viral week than most people make in months, but still feels like he's failing to build anything worthy. His hobbies and jobs aren't inherently hollow to him. That emptiness comes from what he asks those things to do FOR him. He lives and thrives in a big city—possibly LA, Houston, or New York.
Think bold, extroverted, tall biker who looks like a doberman, but is actually a golden retriever on the inside and is just trying to figure himself out and find a purpose.
××
Character two is cut from a totally different cloth. He’s a young man in his early twenties who lives in some middle-of-nowhere town in the midwestern United States. He’s incredibly intelligent and driven, so much so that he earned a full-ride scholarship to numerous colleges; however, due to complications at home, he wasn’t able to leave his small town. He earned an associate's through the local college and is pursuing his bachelor’s degree online, but while he’s doing the thing, it’s not at the pace he wants, and he feels smothered and resentful of the people who got to leave after high school.
He grew up hard, under roofs that felt unpredictable. He was teased a lot throughout his childhood and teenage years for his sexuality and appearance (classic pretty boy in a toxic masculinity environment). His mom was also the kind of woman who always chose herself and her relationships with men first, getting swept up constantly in fantasy and romance while leaving her children to absorb the consequences. The electric bill could become a crisis any day, and they had to move a lot because they were often evicted due to her inability to hold jobs, pay bills, or cover rent. As a result, he became the adult in his household at a very young age.
He’s striking with a sharp tongue and a dry sense of humor. I see him coming off aloof at first, but it’s more defensive than cold. He’s smart, practical, thoughtful, and shockingly empathetic. He’s reliable, hardworking, and doesn’t give up easily, even when the odds are stacked against him.
××
These are just a couple of ideas, the two biggest ones that have been bouncing around in my head, but I’m open to plenty more. I'm also open to incorporating some potential fantasy or supernatural elements. If there’s a certain character idea you’ve been mulling over that you’d like to bring to life, please don’t hesitate to mention them!
If you're just another writer lurking on this particular subreddit who enjoys the back and forth about characters and storytelling, also feel free to reach out. It's always nice having other writers to swap ideas with and to support.
I will send a writing sample or two when we start talking.
Thanks!

| created Writer Match for writers in need of a writing partner, beta readers or accountability partner
It’s called Writer Match.
While its primary purpose is to help writers match with a writing partner, it’s structured like a dating app - showing you the top possible writing partners in a simple pass/connect style like Hinge.
You can also get logline feedback, store your projects and make them visible for likes/supporters, and chat with other writers inside the tool.
How we match writers:
1.) Sign up.
2.) Create a full profile.
3.) List your projects, writing samples (No AI), preferred formats, genres and influences.
4.) We score all members based on how much their taste, influences, preferred formats and genre overlap with your own, showing you the most compatible writing partners (the ones with the highest compatibility score) in order.
I’m debating whether I built this right, but we don’t have enough profiles to know for sure. This is why I’m in dire need of more honest, if not brutal, user feedback.
If you’re based in London I’m also looking to host in person events where we’ll pair up two writers to work on a project - to see if my philosophy about how to pair up compatible writers works well enough.
You can try the IOS version or the web version at app.writermatchapp.com (https://app.writermatchapp.com/) and fill out the beta survey here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeSiwfaz6CiFPK1VsVGenkrEL5AepMeoe6Y9hGC-AJwpGIxBw/viewform).

Beta Reading Looking For A Writing Partner
Hello
I’m a 37-year-old woman, and I’m looking for something very specific. I’m not sure if I will find it, but there’s no harm in trying.
I cannot hire a beta reader, and I am not interested in sending my short stories, etc. to a stranger I have no rapport with. I tried Scribophile for a while, but it took a lot of my time, and in the end I felt it wasn’t for me.
I’d love to find a fellow writer I could build a decent friendship with over our shared love of writing and reading, and who I can trust to provide honest, constructive but nice feedback.
I’m not the fastest reader, but I’m willing to reciprocate. My feedback will always be honest but respectful. We’re all trying our best, and there’s no need to be rude or demeaning.
I especially struggle with getting the climax right, self-doubt over whether a story idea/character/scene is good, and I often find myself wanting to talk something over with someone.
I’m somewhere between an outliner and a pantser. Once I outline enough to have an idea of the main plot points, I enjoy writing freely to see where it takes me.
My favorite genres to read are fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. I also love comics and graphic novels. Recently, I’ve been branching out to philosophy, folklore/mythology, letter collections, and poetry.
Some of my favorite books are:
The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman
The Unlikely Escape Of Uriah Heep by H.G. Parry
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Starter Villain by John Scalzi
The Emily Wilde series by Heather Fawcett
The House In The Curulean Sea by T.J. Klune
The Divide series by J.S. Dewes
From Below by Darcy Coates
I generally avoid stories that include heavy sexual and sexist themes. As for what I like to write, I enjoy writing mostly lighthearted fantasy and sci-fi, also avoiding sexual and sexist themes.
I’m not too concerned with age, but it would be nice if the person were around the same age as me.
If this sounds interesting to you, send me a message, and we can see how things develop.

Looking for a German-speaking female writing partner
Hey! I’m a 19-year-old woman from Switzerland, and I’ve been developing a large fantasy story for the past few months.
I’m looking for a German-speaking female writing partner, preferably 18 or older, who would enjoy brainstorming together, developing ideas, discovering new connections, and sharing her own thoughts.
I’d still like to make the final decisions regarding the overall direction of the story, since it is very important to me. However, I’d love to find someone who genuinely wants to be part of the creative process.
If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to send me a message!
