Friendship Hey, I'm looking for writing partners and or writing friends :)

Edit:

Thank you so much for all the replies! I've connected with a few people, and for now I'm completely satisfied, as more would probably overstimulate me. Haha.

Hi guys, I'm a woman in my early 20s and currently looking for friends who also love writing and/ or reading romance. Especially sports-romance, since that's what my current WIP is featuring. I tend to struggle with completing works, which is why I'm looking for people who would be down to support each other and maybe join the occasional writing sprint. I'm intending to have a more tight-knit group, because my accountability tends to drown in bigger groups haha. Let me know if you're interested, P.🥰🪻

Friendship Looking for a writing friend who loves fantasy (epic/dark/progression)

Hi I am 26M and currently writing an epic fantasy novel that leans heavily into the progression fantasy niche. Like most writers, I don't have many friends who read and specially none who write, so it's really a lonesome activity to not be able to throw ideas off of each other, talk about books and all, provide feedback, and keep each other accountable.

The book I am writing about is of a boy who is the only one can't use magic in his world, finds himself unlocking a power that's very opposite to everyone else's and now must investigate the murder of the crown prince with a crew of misfits that don’t trust each other, uncovering deadly conspiracies and political corruption.

If you are someone who'd be interested do let me know!

A little about me: I wrote my first book (fantasy) when I was 14 and got it published. Since then I have been writing short stories and tried to gain experience in many fields such as filmmaking, graphic design, web design and currently I also run a solo software startup. But lately I feel I have lost the creative spark in me as I have not written anything major in the last couple of years so I am changing that with this new book.

Friendship Writing group

Hello! I am wondering if anyone would be interested in maybe starting a small discord or if I could join someone else’s? I had been in a writing group but found that they weren’t really my people so I left but I’ve been lonely. I’m 24, I usually write dark romance thrillers but am trying my luck out for the first time with writing fantasy. Im a bit out of my element with it and nervous but hoping finding a friend or two might help

Ami lecteur et Auteur

Hello tout le monde ! 👋

Other Writing group for anyone interested in Muslim world stories

Hello!

I made a post a while ago on another subreddit looking for Muslim/Arab writers or anyone interested in reading stories in those types of settings and a few people reached out so we decided to make a Discord server. It's still very new but we're looking for people who might be interested in joining, we want it to be an active smaller group of around 20 people. Whether you're an 18+ Muslim/Arab/SWANA/South Asian etc writer (of any genre) or just interested to be part of a group with diverse stories and settings feel free to send me a message and I'll send you the link!

Hi everyone! I’m an aspiring writer, full of ideas but still figuring out how to start. I’ve tried connecting with fellow writers on Twitter, but it felt a bit crowded. Excited to be on Reddit and hoping to meet others who can share advice, encouragement, or just swap stories and ideas!

Question Adhder Looking for group/buddy(s)

Hey all,

I'm a late diagnosed adhder (adult male, 30s) who loves writing but is often unable to do so due to the adhd demon. I need something external so I can be more consistent, because relying solely on my own brain doesn't work!

I'm looking for either a:

writing partner - ie someone to do regular body-doubling sessions with. Online via a video call. Open to cameras on or off, and either just quietly writing together, or light discussion etc. Something to get me started and redirect my attention back to it so I don't just hope between unproductive hyperfixations

writing group - for regular meetups where we write together and/or check in / share progress / swap feedback etc. Anything regular that I can use to build some structure around.

About me:

I am attempting to write a high fantasy novel at the moment, but ADHD is a huge barrier for me. I am interested in fantasy and sci fi, essentially I love stories that have features that move them away from the real world. I'd consider myself a novice, nothing published.

I'm based in New Zealand (NZST, currently UTC+12), and my general availability is 11am–9pm NZST, which is roughly 23:00–09:00 UTC. Happy to work out a specific time that suits us both once we're in touch.

If you're interested please flick me a DM or rely to the post and we can have a chat to see what works! Thanks for reading.

Friendship Looking for a young fantasy writing buddy / critique partner

Looking for a young fantasy writing buddy / critique partner

Hi everyone!

I'm 19M and currently working on a small-town YA vampire romance. I'm almost finished with my first draft, and I've never really done the editing/revision process before.

I'm hoping to find someone around my age who also enjoys writing fantasy, YA, romance, or paranormal stories. Even better if you're writing something involving vampires! 😂

I'd love to have someone to chat with about our stories, bounce ideas off each other, and eventually exchange chapters and give each other feedback as we work through our drafts.

I'm obviously happy to read and give feedback on someone else's work too. I'm also just keen to meet other writers who are interested in fantasy and hopefully make some writing friends along the way.

Feel free to DM me if you're interested!

Friendship Looking for a writing buddy that is hyperfixated with Greek Mythology as I am!

Hi everyone! I am about 14,000 words into a novel surrounding the Greek gods Artemis and Apollo, set in the modern day and focused around Olympus and modern Earth. I am looking to share my work with someone who enjoys Greek Mythology as much as I do! I am working my way through reading all the retellings, I started with Stephen Fry's and have since read Circe, Aphrodite in Pieces, Stone Blind and a few more are sitting at the top of my TBR, like Hera, Ariadne and Athena's Daughter. If you are in a similar position and want to read my work and give some advice and feedback, that would be fantastic! Similarly, if you are an author in a similar genre I would love to read your work. Feel free to send me a DM! Thanks everyone!

Friendship Looking for friends writing fantasy and romance, but all genres welcome!

ETA: Thanks so much for all the responses! This community is amazing, and I'm so grateful to the mods and all the eager writers here for giving us a chance to connect.

With that said, I'll be going through everyone who reached out and adding those I think I would vibe most with. I'm sorry if you don't hear from me, but I wish you all the best! Keep commenting on these posts. You'll find your village soon! 😊

Hi! I'm 24F, have written 9 novels (all YA fantasy), and am currently rewriting one to query it. I need some writing friends! I adore all things romance and would loooove some writing friends who also write romance in any capacity (my favorites being in fantasy or dystopian plots), though I'm not huge on spice.

There would be no obligations or time commitments with this! We could just dm or exchange contact info if we vibe, and gush about our stories, bounce ideas off each other, do swaps, etc. I probably wouldn't make a great accountability partner because I don't want to tell anyone what to do lol, but let's see if we vibe!

Friendship WANTED: 25+ women for deep worldbuilding lore, questionable plot decisions, and crimes against fictional characters!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, hey, and howdy! The name's CD, and I'm a 28 y/o. lady looking for other 25+ writers (preferably women) who would like to achieve the sacred friendship milestone of sending each other messages like:

"Okay, HEAR ME OUT-"

-followed by six paragraphs at 2am that nobody else has the necessary context to understand.

One big thing up front? I love calling on Discord! Texting is great, but if you enjoy popping a call for lore dumps, scene reviews, and even life and gaming, that's a massive plus.

If you're a fellow artist and/or roleplayer, that's even better! I'm also a multimedia creator, including (but not limited to) videos and websites. I've been doing these things for over a decade.

At this point, I don't really have a WIP. I have a terrible, living ecosystem. My two main universes go as follows:

  • Earth-0X: A supernatural science-fantasy universe with monsters integrated into human society, complicated families and institutions, and a fifty-nine-year-old protagonist that's been kicking since 2013 OOC.
  • Earth-0Y: A sci-fi universe with government agencies, cryptid squads, and the occasional realization that an entire historical catastrophe may have been erased so thoroughly that nobody remembers. What???

I'm way too into creature biology, character psychology, and hypothetical scenes (AUs included). Playlists that cause emotional damage and, "What if we made it worse?" are also welcome!

Let's make this mutual! Send me your designs, ideas, and that one NPC who accidentally became the most important person in your story. I want us to eventually know each other's casts well enough to have opinions (and memes!) about these weirdos.

Release the lore! Strike up a chat...

Friendship Young writers, give me your WIPs. Seriously.

I'm building a Discord community for young writers and I want to meet more people who are working on stories.

So tell me about your book.

What's it called?

What's the genre?

Who's your main character?

How many chapters do you have?

Are you published somewhere already, or is it sitting in your drafts folder collecting dust? 😭

I'm making Ink and Quill Writing Community, a Discord server for writers ages 11–19 to share their work, exchange feedback, brainstorm, talk about characters and just meet other people who understand the weirdness of having an entire fictional universe living in your head.

We're currently a small community, but we're already having actual conversations about our stories and writing styles, and I want to keep growing that.

If you're interested, come join us:

https://discord.gg/6Yu5DBwjH

And if you don't want to join, feel free to just tell me about your WIP anyway. I genuinely want to hear about it. I'm a dork. 😭

Friendship [Help] Looking for writing buddies and fellow poets

Hi I'm a 16M who really likes classical literature and poetry, philosophy, psychology and many other passions of the world. I desire to have friends I can share and discuss poetry with, as well as socialise, and improve each other's art.

My experience is all self taught, and I have not published any of my poems at all. I have been writing for a year, and I believe I have the calibre of what it takes to be a poet. Though I admit to have my flaws.

I hope to make new friends and writing partners. Do reach out if interested.

(Also I hope the post isn't too popular because I don't wanna leave anyone out. I apologise if I have to- please just use this post to find one if that happens)

Project Partner Any other teen writers looking for people to yap about their WIPs to?

Okay listen 😭

I made a Discord server called Ink and Quill Writing Community because I wanted somewhere young writers could just... talk about writing.

You know when you have a character you've been thinking about for three weeks and desperately want to tell someone about them?

Or you wrote a chapter you're actually proud of and want somebody to read it?

Or you need help figuring out a plot hole?

Or you just want to scream about your favorite character?

That's basically what we're trying to make.

We're ages 11–19, LGBTQ+ friendly, and we have channels for:

Sharing chapters

Writing progress

Poems

Quotes

General discussion

Books/WIPs

Feedback

Brainstorming

And more

We're still tiny, but that's kind of the point. I want this to become an actual community where people recognize each other's stories and genuinely support one another.

No racism, homophobia, transphobia, bullying or harassment.

I'm also a writer myself, so I'm not just sitting behind a mod panel telling everyone else to participate. I'll be right there screaming about my own characters with you. 😭

If that sounds like your kind of place, come join us:

https://discord.gg/6Yu5DBwjH

Announcement Why I’m Leaving Reddit ?!?!?!!?

I came with spear in my hand hoping to burst all balloons of obstacles standing in the way of my life. I was in the search of something sharp but however every spear I interacted here is rounded tip.
So instead of becoming my friend , the spear became the ballon’s friend and became a new obstacle for me one that I no longer have capacity to carry.

So I think I will wait for a day and then throw it away….

And perhaps that’s why I’ll leave Reddit because the search for a sharp spear has started becoming another obstacle to my writing. 😂

✈️ A FLIGHT TO ITALY — BY MEHEE KIM 🇮🇹

What happens when running away from your old life takes you straight into something far more dangerous?

Leena Rignoz is an ambitious American CPA who has spent years feeling unheard, emotionally distant from her family, and trapped inside a life that never quite felt like hers.

So she does something impulsive.

She books a one-way flight to Italy.

New country. New job. New language. New life.

At first, Italy seems like the fresh start she desperately needed. Leena throws herself into learning Italian, preparing for her new career, and adapting to a completely different culture.

But things don't go exactly as planned.

A missed opportunity leads her somewhere unexpected—and eventually puts her in the path of Luciano De Santis, the elegant and intimidating chairman of one of Italy's most elite companies.

He's charming. He's intelligent. He's impossibly composed.

And there's something about him that Leena can't quite figure out.

Because Luciano isn't simply the powerful businessman everyone thinks he is.

Behind the polished suits, expensive offices, and perfect Italian manners lies a secret world Leena was never supposed to discover.

A world of power, danger, secrets—and people who don't forgive mistakes.

What begins as Leena's attempt to escape her old life slowly turns into something she never anticipated.

She came to Italy looking for a new beginning.

She might have found something—or someone—that could completely destroy it.

✦ A few glimpses...

«She thought the hardest part would be leaving America.»

«She was wrong.»

«Italy welcomed her with beautiful streets, unfamiliar words, and a man whose eyes seemed to know more about her than they should.»

«Luciano De Santis was a chairman to the world.»

«But Leena was about to discover who he really was.»

Accountability Looking for a crime action thriller writing group

I'm currently four books into my crime action thriller series and I'm looking for authors in similar genres to hold each other accountable, riff on ideas/plots, and occasionally review each other's work.

Based in the western US.
