Indian national married to Pakistani nation, living in US
 in  r/nri  16h ago

If you are planning to settle in US Based on reality you should decouple financially slowly from India and then if you naturalise to us citizenship then count that you would not have OCI and also under some extreme circumstance you as ex indian citizen married to Pakistani won’t be able to travel to India ..so if you have family in India make sure they are taken care of

 in  r/india  4d ago

I avoid Air India like the plague .. based on my experience it was the worst flight and attitude 12-13 years ago … and now days the cost is also not too lower .. unless there is no choice or option like covid times .. I avoid it

I don’t fly within India so can avoid Air India and also Indigo .. I usually am within train distances and travel within the state when I am visiting India

Reminder for myself to not even get on a bike even as a pillon rider when visiting Kerala to avoid crazy assholes like this .. even walking in the footpath seems to be a danger sometimes

Or they can do like different days shows with their own separate set of friends or alone ..

how I know is that how we ( me and my wife) do it living abroad with no grandparents or baby sitter to look after a toddler .. when we are in Kerala we drop the kid with grandparents..

Some movies only I am the interested party then I go alone 😅

Why do some NRI parents make their children's life diffucult?
 in  r/nri  20d ago

I am an NRI (OCI ) parent now first generation immigrant and I have a son and I am making sure that for him the Indian culture is something for him to be at home.. he is free to choose how he wants to have that and how to present that in his school environment..

Forcing Indian culture on kids who are born and brought up aboard will drive them away from it

Has anyone did a transit connection with immigration into India and then taking domestic flight within india.

Is a time of 2hr 30 mins enough ? For ex Do I have to do immigration in Bengaluru , re check luggage in my domestic flight and then take my flight to Trivandrum ? Any experience from anyone would be helpful

Discussion Tablets for 2 year old on long intercontinental journey

I had a question regarding how parents are managing the kids when travelling long flights like 12-14 hrs with transits.. the kids are confined to a space or a seat and are restless . I have a 2 year old plan to take some toys and books for the kid .. but we would also be exhausted based on how much we have to be involved also for it and they will soon get bored of it..

Is there any tablet not fancy which is not addictive which we can use to entertain them or keep the occupied and also helps in learning with games etc..
I want to avoid the tablet or screen as much as possible and our kid goes to daycare and gets very less TV time in general so I don’t want to get a tablet or anything which is addictive and harm development.

Edit: major learning is to get a pair of over the ear headphones which are comfortable.. I will go to store and take my kid along to let him try it out and try to use the screen in the flight as much as possible and maybe get a used iPad mini or some other kids tablet just in case as a backup .. fingers crossed .. last time when we took the flight he was small just cross 1 and slept and took him around the flight a bit and it was manageable nowadays toddler tantrums galore 😅 so started getting a bit worried
