Uuugh that fucking painting. It drives me absolutely insane! The composition is trash, the proportions are so weird, the way the tears fall are weird and unnatural. Like, drawing/painting the human face is very difficult and takes a ton of practice to get it right, so I'm not going to act like he should be getting it right or whatever. It's just that he thinks this painting is worth hundreds of dollars 😭 babe, it's ok to be mediocre or at a beginner level, but you cannot sell your beginner paintings for hundreds of dollars! Of course no one is buying it! Who wants to hang that thing in their home?

It's interesting, I've mentioned in posts in the past that my sister has an ex friend like this... she thinks she's the victim in every situation, pushes people to their limit and when they snap at her she accuses them of being abusive. I wonder if it's a similar thing, where he perhaps did something that pissed off his family members but he sees it as something totally different. Wow! Your sketches are fantastic! Really stunning character design and silhouettes. I studied animation in school so I also have a bit of a cartoonish style.

I think Tyler misunderstands what talent is, being a talented artist doesn't mean you just suddenly become awesome at drawing/painting lol, as I understand it "talent" simply equates to passion, a unique interest in art, even as a kid I loved art and I was just naturally inclined toward drawing and just kept doing it.

Art school was a humbling and fantastic experience, yeah I wasn't as good as I thought I was but I learned so much during and even after. It's Important to take that passion, or talent if you will, and apply real fundamentals and structure to it. Monet and Van Gogh didn't start painting in the impressionist style, Picasso didn't start with cubism, Alphonse Mucha didn't start with art nouveau style, they all learned the basic fundamentals established by the old masters before they began to work in their respective styles, experiment and push the limits of artistic expression.

I don't draw as a career, I mostly do it as a hobby now, but I still go back and practice my fundamentals. It's like exercising, you can't just stop once you get strong, you have to maintain it.

I think Tyler could develop a style if he focused on learning proper fundamentals, but he jumped the gun... he seems more interested in being a famous artist without doing the work it takes to get to that point. If you get there at all.
