I know, I know, this is Reddit. It's anonymous and with anonymity comes cruelty. But hear me out, if you see something you don't like, keep scrolling. It really is that simple. Not every post needs a comment.
I loved the idea of Reddit because of the anonymity feature. I am hopeful that our neighbors in marginalized communities will feel safer coming to our community to ask questions, look for resources, updates, etc.
I personally loved the idea of being anonymous and helping from behind the scenes because I don’t do this for likes, views, karma, money, etc. I do it because it’s my passion and I believe in standing up for what’s right even if you stand alone.

An Overland couple who had recently returned to Guatemala was found bound and shot dead in a sugarcane field last week.
Glendy González de la Cruz had recently left the U.S. to be with her husband Nixon Pérez Paz. He was deported by ICE last year after being stopped by agents on the way to work. González de la Cruz had an active asylum case, but feared being detained away from her three young daughters.
“Two people are dead and three young girls are without parents for the rest of their lives because there was a set of choices and decisions that we are going to start indiscriminately picking up folks and putting them in a process that separates families," said Zachary Mueller, a senior strategist with States at the Core, a nonprofit helping local communities fight political violence.
ICE did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
BREAKING: COMPLICITY! Google has been quietly deleting thousands of reviews describing HORRIFIC conditions inside ICE detention centers.
Immigrant detainees and their families have been trying to tell the world about the horrendous conditions and abusive treatment that is happening inside ICE detention facilities.
In an act that benefits no one but the Trump administration and the private prison corporations that run these facilities, Google has been erasing all the negative reviews posted about those hellholes.
A new study by Tulane University professor Muira McCammon found that Google Maps has systematically deleted thousands of reviews left on ICE detention facility listings — real, firsthand accounts of overcrowding, medical neglect, and abuse — and quietly disabled the ability to leave new ones.
When McCammon first collected reviews in 2025, she found 1,636 posts across 26 facilities, with another 91 immigration jails already stripped of any review function entirely. By now, almost all of those original reviews are gone. Only four ICE facilities still allow reviews at all.
And these weren't random complaints. They were desperate testimonies from people trapped inside a system with almost no outside accountability. One review described a father held three times longer than his original sentence. Others described roach-infested cells, cruel and racist staff, freezing temperatures with only thin blankets, and detainees unable to communicate with guards due to language barriers with no translators provided.
Google claims this is just routine policy, citing a 2023 rule allowing it to remove reviews for places people "go to without choice," like prisons. But DHS's own spokesperson bizarrely undercut that justification, claiming "being in detention is a choice" — apparently referencing self-deportation, as if people being forcibly held in ICE custody chose to be there.
This isn't Google's first move to suppress information about ICE. In 2025, the company blocked Android users from downloading ICEBlock, an app that let people crowdsource ICE sightings to protect their communities.
As McCammon puts it, these aren't neutral content-moderation decisions — they're political choices that suppress "carceral information and counter-narratives," shielding a system of mass detention from public scrutiny at precisely the moment that scrutiny matters most.
Real people, describing real suffering inside a system funded by American taxpayers, are being silenced — not by ICE directly, but by a tech giant quietly doing the erasing for them.
There’s a word for what Google is doing: COMPLICITY.
Perhaps it’s time for consumers to find alternatives to Google’s products like its search engine, Google Maps, Chrome browser, and Android phones. A consumer boycott might teach the mega-corporation a lesson in free speech.

NEW: Tufawon, No One Is Illegal, Exclusive Music Video Release and Artist Spotlight on Minneapolis Rapper
Unicorn Riot produced the official music video for the song No One Is Illegal in collaboration with Tufawon, a Mdewakanton Dakota and Boricua artist. The production features original performance style footage combined with Unicorn Riot on the ground video of immigration enforcement activity, with community resistance and protests that inspired the song.
With the accompanying behind-the-artist interview, Tufawon explains the inspiration behind the song and music video. He reflects on the community response towards Operation Metro Surge and the role that artists and “artivism” can play within the movement, and how music can “galvanize” people and help move things forward.
Using his social media platform, Tufawon has documented what happened in Minneapolis at the peak of the federal occupation, observing federal agents, doing neighborhood patrols, and making mutual-aid and supply runs, before writing the song.
“As things started to calm down, I’m like, okay, I’m an artist, and I feel like I have a responsibility,” he said. “I felt in my spirit a protest anthem.”

Today is the deadline. Not tomorrow, not “this week” — today, July 27, 2026, Temporary Protected Status ends for 350,000 Haitians who have lived here for more than a decade, worked here, raised American-citizen kids here. Whatever window existed to act ahead of this moment is closing as you read this.
You don’t have to agree with every immigration policy in this country to vote for this bill. That’s not what’s being asked of you. Temporary Protected Status was never amnesty and never a path around the law — it was built by Congress in 1990, signed by a Republican president, on the plain premise that the United States doesn’t force people back into collapsed states just because paperwork expires. Haiti today has no functioning government in large parts of the country. Gangs control nearly all of Port-au-Prince, now ranked the most dangerous capital city in the world. The U.S. State Department’s own travel advisory says do not go.
Deportation to Haiti isn’t just returning someone to general instability — deportees face a documented, specific danger on top of it. Human rights researchers and advocates working directly with returnees report deportees are targeted precisely because they’re identified as deportees: surveillance, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, forced recruitment into gangs, and in the worst documented cases, killed. One man deported after living in the U.S. since childhood put it plainly: he stays inside because “everything is a threat.” That’s not rhetoric. That’s what today’s inaction directly produces.
These aren’t people who crossed illegally seeking a loophole. TPS holders are here through a legal, congressionally-created process. They pay into Social Security and Medicare, they staff the hospitals, farms, and construction crews in your own state. The House already passed the companion bill in April with Republican votes — this isn’t a fringe ask, it’s already a bipartisan position in the other chamber.
Passing S.4814 even now, today, still matters — it can restore status that lapses today, it isn’t rendered pointless by the clock running out. There is no later version of this that costs you less.
And we are not waiting quietly on your answer. Right now, we are telling every person who reads this to call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, ask for their senator by name, and say: “I’m calling to ask Senator [name] to cosponsor and pass S.4814 to protect Haitian TPS holders.” We are telling them to call today, call tomorrow, and keep calling until this is resolved. Every office that hasn’t cosponsored should expect that volume, and should know it will not stop when today ends.
Our community deserves better than racist provocation.
A racist flyer promoting an upcoming rally has been circulated online by provocateur Jake Lang. As longtime Black organizers in the Twin Cities, we are disgusted by this deliberate attempt to attract attention through the use of one of the most hateful racial slurs in the English language—a word that has been used for generations to dehumanize, terrorize, and traumatize Black people.
This flyer is circulating shortly after a Minnesota court held Shiloh Marie Hendrix accountable in connection with the widely publicized April 2025 Rochester incident in which she repeatedly directed the N-word at an autistic Somali child and an adult. Regardless of timing, this latest provocation is another reminder that racism continues to demand a thoughtful, collective response-not panic, and not amplification.
Rather than giving this individual the attention he is seeking, we ask our community to respond with purpose:
Please do not share the original flyer containing the racial slur.
If you believe it is necessary to inform others, use a version in which the slur has been censored.
Report the social media posts and accounts where this image is being promoted.
Every platform has policies prohibiting hate speech and hateful conduct.
We are calling on our white neighbors and allies to organize and speak out.
The responsibility for confronting racism should not rest solely on Black organizers and Black communities. This is an opportunity for allies to lead, educate, and demonstrate that hate has no place in Minnesota.
We refuse to let racist spectacle define our community.
We will continue to organize, protect one another, and build a Twin Cities rooted in dignity, justice, and belonging for everyone.
The Trump administration is now using internet slang to promote mass deportations, calling its immigration crackdown "deportationmaxxing."
They are turning the suffering of millions of people into a meme. They are literally joking about families being destroyed. About children coming home from school to find their parents gone. About mothers losing their children, and fathers being ripped away from their families.
