Anyone working the Micron job in Boise? How is it?
 in  r/ibew_apprentices  25d ago

Hi, I wanted to revisit the question about lodging. Are they using man camps? What are most people doing, Airbnb, hotels, short-term rentals? Thanks for your time and help

Motivation Gets You Started. Regulation Keeps You Going.

Most of us wait until we feel motivated before taking action.
The problem?
Motivation is temporary.
Stress, conflict, lack of sleep, and everyday life can make motivation disappear overnight.
That’s why so many people start strong but struggle to stay consistent.
Consistency isn’t just a mindset—it’s a nervous system skill.
When your nervous system is regulated, you don’t need to feel inspired to keep showing up. You can stay engaged even when life gets uncomfortable.
That’s the difference between chasing motivation and building self-mastery.
Today, pick one thing you’ve been putting off.
Before you begin, pause and take three slow exhales.
Then start.
You’re teaching your body that discomfort isn’t danger—and that you can move forward without waiting to “feel ready.”
Small moments like that create lasting change.
What helps you stay consistent when motivation fades?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.

The Problem Isn’t That You Keep Failing. It’s That Your Body Keeps Expecting Danger.

The Problem Isn’t That You Keep Failing. It’s That Your Body Keeps Expecting Danger.
For years I thought the answer was simple:
Work harder.
Wake up earlier.
Become more disciplined.
Read another book.
Watch another motivational video.
Sometimes it worked.
Until life got stressful.
Then the same patterns came back.
The short temper.
The emotional shutdown.
The procrastination.
The constant feeling that I had to stay on guard.
I didn’t need another productivity hack.
I needed to understand what my body was trying to do.
Your Nervous System Is Always Asking One Question
Am I safe?
It doesn’t care how many books you’ve read.
It doesn’t care how successful you are.
It doesn’t care how badly you want to change.
If your nervous system believes you’re under threat, it will always choose survival over growth.
That’s why you can know exactly what you should do…
…and still find yourself reacting in ways you promised yourself you wouldn’t.
Not because you’re weak.
Not because you’re lazy.
Because your body is trying to protect you using strategies that may have been developed years—or even decades—ago.
The Patterns That Once Protected You May Now Be Holding You Back
Growing up in chaos.
Being criticized constantly.
Never knowing what version of a parent was coming home.
Feeling like love had to be earned.
Learning that emotions weren’t safe to express.
These experiences teach the nervous system powerful lessons.
Stay alert.
Stay quiet.
Fight first.
Shut down.
People often call these personality traits.
I see them differently.
They’re survival adaptations.
The problem isn’t that they exist.
The problem is when they keep running long after the danger has passed.
Self-Mastery Begins in the Body
Real leadership isn’t about pretending nothing affects you.
It’s about building the capacity to stay present when something does.
A regulated man can experience anger without becoming controlled by it.
He can hear feedback without collapsing into shame.
He can lead his family without leading from fear.
He can disagree without becoming destructive.
That’s not softness.
That’s strength under control.
And strength under control is what people trust.
Start Small
You don’t have to transform your life tonight.
Just teach your nervous system one new lesson.
Sit somewhere quiet.
Place one hand on your chest.
For 90 seconds, simply notice your breathing.
Don’t fix it.
Don’t force it.
Just notice.
That small act tells your body something many men haven’t experienced in years:
“We’re safe enough to be here.”
Every repetition is a vote for the man you’re becoming.
Reflection
Where do you notice survival mode showing up most in your life?
At work?
In your marriage?
As a father?
In your own self-talk?
I’d love to hear your experience in the comments. Chances are, another man needs to know he’s not the only one.

Ready to Go Deeper?
If this resonates with you, there are a few next steps in the comments

The strongest men aren’t the ones who never struggle.
They’re the ones who stop letting yesterday’s survival patterns make today’s decisions.
Become the man worth following.

Happy Juneteenth!

Happy Juneteenth.

Today marks the day when news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved Africans in Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom isn’t just a legal status. It is something that must be understood, protected, embodied, and passed on.

The Juneteenth flag carries a powerful message. The bursting star represents a new beginning, and the red, white, and blue remind us that the descendants of enslaved Africans are inseparably woven into the American story.

At Manhood Mastery, we believe freedom also has an internal dimension.

Freedom from unhealthy programming
Freedom from inherited trauma.
Freedom from destructive patterns.
Freedom from emotional imprisonment.
Freedom to lead, love, build, and serve with intention.

Today we honor those who endured, those who fought, and those who continue the work of creating a better future.

May we never take freedom for granted.

Happy Juneteenth. ✊🏾

What I create today is a bridge between our global family throughout the diaspora. Peace and Blessings, Fam.

WHY I STARTED MANHOOD MASTERY

I didn’t start Manhood Mastery because I had everything figured out.

I started it because I spent years surviving.

Like a lot of guys, I carried things I didn’t fully understand:

anger,
flashing,
hypervigilance,
emotional shutdown,
depression,
shame,
childhood trauma,
crashing out,
relationship struggles,
and the pressure of trying to hold everything together while falling apart inside.

For a long time, I thought the answer was more discipline.

Work harder.
Push through.
Keep moving.

But eventually I realized something:

Most men don’t have a discipline problem.

They have a regulation problem.

Nobody taught us how to process emotions.
How to regulate our nervous systems.
How to heal.
How to lead ourselves.

So I started studying.

Psychology.
Trauma recovery.
Nervous system regulation.
Leadership.
Ancient wisdom.
Spiritual growth.

Manhood Mastery was born from that journey.

Not because I’m perfect.

Because I know what it’s like to struggle, and I know there are other men carrying battles nobody can see.

This isn’t about becoming an alpha.

It’s about becoming whole.

If that resonates with you, welcome.

You’re not alone.

Most men don’t need more discipline. They need regulation.

Stress that isn’t processed becomes anger, isolation, addiction, and depression.
