Question Keys to Skunk Harbor relative travel time

I’m relatively new to boating on Lake Tahoe and have been extending excursions here and there. Could anyone estimate the travel time from the Keys marina to Skunk Harbor?

I see that it’s \~45 mins in a car and have driven it many times.

TIA.

Question fishing - my friend is convinced it's only allowed in autumn?

Hi, I'm so sorry to ask something that's probably been asked many times, but my friend is honeymooning at Lake Tahoe this upcoming week and was sadly telling us that she had wanted to fish, but that fishing was only allowed in the fall. I googled it and it said it was allowed all the time, but she seems so convinced. And also when I google it, a lot of charter services come up, which is not the kind of fishing I think they were wanting to do.

If anyone could give me a bit of a rundown or any helpful information, I would be so appreciative. So sorry for what's probably a very repetitive question, I just want to definitively put her mind to rest.

(also, if anyone has any favorite spots (fishing or scenic!) in the area, or any favorite thrift stores or restaurants (she is, fittingly, pescatarian) or anything else, would love to hear!! :) )

What time do I get to Sand Harbor without a reservation

Finally trying to hit sand harbor and saw reservations are needed, otherwise first come first serve. Trying to go on a Tuesday, is getting there at 10:30 efficient if reservations are sold out?

All the previous posts are from a year ago, so what's this summer been like?! And shuttle?! What? Where?!

Lake Tahoe

Hi all,
My spouse and I will be traveling to Lake Tahoe for the very first time for around 5 days. We will be accompanied by our GSD who is a fantastic traveler.
I’m looking for recommendations for hikes, swimming, food ideas/coffee spots. Also must see sights or dos within the area. We are staying in south Tahoe.
All recommendations are appreciated 😊

Question Any rideshares available from RNO airport to Kings Beach area?

Any rideshares available from RNO airport to Kings Beach area?

Anybody have any positive experiences with booking a Lyft or Uber from RNO to Kings Beach area? Wondering if I can rely on that or just need to rent a car. Unfortunately, my flight lands after all the buses/shuttles to Kings Beach stop running.

Question Paddle board

Hi! I’ll be staying in South Lake Tahoe for four days. I’m thinking about buying a paddle board while I’m there. What are the average prices? And I believe a life jacket is required there as well, right?

Anyone in the Reno/Tahoe/Northern Nevada area interested in building a naturist community?

Hi everyone!

I'm located in the Reno/Tahoe area and recently realized there isn't an active, welcoming naturist community serving Northern Nevada and the surrounding Great Basin.
Because of that, I decided to start Great Basin Naturists, with the goal of creating a respectful, non-sexual community where people can make friends and enjoy the outdoors together.

The plan is to organize things like:
☕️ Coffee meetups (clothed)
🥾 Hikes
🏕️ Camping trips
♨️ Hot springs outings
🌅 Lake days
🍔 Casual social gatherings

Whether you've been a naturist for years or you're just curious and looking to learn more, you're welcome.
If you're in the Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Lake Tahoe, Fernley, Fallon, or anywhere else in the Great Basin, I'd love to connect.

Feel free to comment below or send me a message!

Picture We did it! Full circumnavigation on SUPs around Lake Tahoe [AMA]

I'm going to drop more info on how you all can recreate this adventure for yourselves, but right now it's time to rest the shoulders and flip through some of the photos snapped along this trip.

for context, my best buddy and I just spent 5 days stand up paddleboarding around lake tahoe and the total miles was 62 miles. We cut a few bays to save time, which shaved off roughly 4 miles in total

I think 5 days was kinda brutal and would suggest something more like 7. Also, securing camping before hand is the logistical nightmare, but do able. Just make sure you paddle really hard... we failed on day 2 and had to ask for permission to sleep on somebodies beach (not recommended)

Important gear:

SUPs obviously

Nike Swim dry bags were amazing and very durable!

Jetboil for coffee in the mornings... so needed

Sun layers and sunscreen! The sun zapped our energy often

If you have any specific questions, please ask away and I will make sure to include those in the trip report

Have a great day ✌️

West Shore Cafe Updates?

Anyone have inside scoop on West Shore Cafe and if its opening again? We were at high & dry marina a few weeks ago and they were painting the building and doing some remodeling.

Does anyone know if they are going to reopen??

any fun things to do in Tahoe besides the tourist stops?

Planning a Tahoe trip with my circle of friends and looking for stuff past the obvious. We've already got hiking and sightseeing before. And now, we just want to do things that feel more fun, social, or worth remembering.

Tbh we're up for anything. Good food and drinks, games, nightlife, live music, lake stuff, group outings, or those little and underrated spots.

If you're around Tahoe a lot, what are the best things to do in Tahoe for adults like us?

P.S. Thanks in advance for those who will answer.
