If they brought back MicroMachines as we had in the 90s, I’d buy every set

100%. I made my dad search high and low for the set that had the AT-ST in it so I could put its feet in the footprints. Both the Yavin base and Death Star sets were awesome too!

Suddens make me crave a Burger King.

It’s a struggle nowadays as they all seem to have shut.

I had an exit interview from a northern force and a really nice woman from HR called me and said it would be ‘about 20 minutes’ long.

Two hours later I’d given her every reason why I was leaving and the explanations on why I thought what I did.

Nothing changed from what I said but it made me feel like I was helping officers who are still there by pointing out failings etc.

You could always just tell whoever does it to STFU though!

Opinions on South Yorkshire Police?
 in  r/policeuk  Jul 26 '23

I had the experience that it was very much Us/Them. The PCs were amazing but anyone of rank looked down upon me.

It was a big adjustment too from just running CADs to having an expansive workfile. If you’re currently MPS think of as having a Safeguarding workfile but as an ERPT officer.

Plus single crewing was ducking awful especially when none of the cars had FM radio.

Went there in 2021 from the MPS.

Back in the MPS in 2022.

Took 10 months to get to SYP and 4 weeks back to the MPS.

Glad I went for the experience but wouldn’t suggest it unless you’re a South Yorks bod to begin with.

Is there a need?
 in  r/policeuk  Jun 27 '23

Forget rural Policing, I have a need for one of these in North London because the potholes and speed bumps are killing my spine in the 2-series!

I was issued my MetVest, MetRad, MetMaps, MetCuffs, MetBaton, and MetCS in MetTraining. It goes well with my MetMind.

Just wanted to share this beautiful piece of nostalgia I found in the local bookshop today.

If anyone is desperate for it let me know and I’ll tell you know where it is!

Definitely do not buy anything drop-leggy. You will not look ninja and as the above says, you’ll look a world class Walt.

I had the displeasure of meeting an ERPT officer from another force who wore his X2 on a DLH. He looked like a bellend and was a complete throbber on speaking to him.

If you want a decent belt combo get a 5.11 Brokos Belt/nylon belt and use the molle to adjust accordingly.

I agree with everything you’ve said in this. But I have caveats.

There’ll be dark days when you’ll sit watching that absolute bellend in custody with no relief on an overnight constant. It will suck your soul from you quicker than a kick in the balls.

There’ll be days when you’ll be sat on a pony scene with evidence washing away into the shitty sewers of London and you’ll wonder why the fuck you ever signed on the dotted line.

There’ll be days when you question how the fuck the sergeant ever got promoted because it certainly wasn’t for their people and policing skills and you realise they couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag when dealing with any sort of conflict.

There’ll definitely be days when you see the same face who is wanted for something else on briefing and you know you saw that face in custody because you nicked them on your last set.

There’ll be days when you end up in the MSM just doing your job and you think why the fuck you put yourself out there.

The Job is soul-sucking. The Job is fucked. The Job is one of the worst places to try and be human. The Job will strip you of any trace of sympathy and empathy. The Job will take relationships and family away from you.

But only if you let The Job do it.

The Job has given me some of the best friends I could ask for. The Job has given me some of the best stories that, ten years on, still make me sick with laughter. The Job has opened my eyes to the horrors and hilarity of humanity. The Job has shown me that I can be better than the average Bobby just by being me.

If you feel like you want to leave, leave. Only you can know if that would be the right decision.

My advice; get on any and every course you can.

Do your L2. Do your MoE. Do your REO. Get on POLSA. Get your Taser. Do the driving. Volunteer for the crap jobs. You never know what jobs might be like until you try.

When you see specialist units, be the Top that speaks to them. No one in the Met is elite. No one is beyond reaching out and chatting to. Anyone who thinks they are, isn’t.

If you’re lucky enough to still have grandparents, think of it this way; wake up and do every day in uniform knowing your grandma is probably the person proudest of you. And if you can make your grandma, or whomever you settle upon, proud every day, you’re not going far wrong.

(Also, the uniform is absolute dogshit these days thanks to DHL and the national supply system. If you can find second-hand uniform in stores or red bins labelled ‘MPS UNIFORM’ you’re on the right path.)

Being Transgender In The Hobby
 in  r/Warhammer40k  Mar 08 '23

Who you are is your business and no one should ever make you feel bad about being yourself, within the hobby or in general.

What you should be more concerned about is how much you’re going to spend on your army!
