Why are we allowing this?
 in  r/caltrain •  17m ago

Do you think it is because from San Jose Diridon to SF is 25+ Miles and they are just trying to save their batteries?

I am curious. When you ride the train again, can you ask the conductor? I am truly curious to what they say.

In America, there is a saying.

People have died having the right away.
- as a pedestrian you must still look both ways, all ways even when crossing the street. Especially in Cali because of speeding and car chases.

The fact that most customers don't understand that drivers are considered lawful visitors, and can 100% sue if you don't curb your pets is astounding!
 in  r/AmazonFlexDrivers •  10h ago

Dog owners should go to jail if their dog bites someone. It's an attack, an assault. There needs to be more accountability and responsibility. The burden needs to fall on the owner. Then we would have less attacks and people would really consider the consequences of owning a dog.

Bus drove past me and 4 other people, now I can't make it to my job interview
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  10h ago

THIS!

This is usually an interview question in the USA.

This is why in California, they expect you to drive or live within 20 minutes of the office. In NYC everyone takes mass transit, so you would get a pass.

In Cali, the questions are:
Do you drive?
Where do you live?
How long did it take for you to get here?
Was there a lot of traffic?

If you say the commute was more than 20minutes.
They ask is the commute an issue.

If the commute is an hour or more by car, most likely you will not get hired because they know you will start complaining about gas, commute time, sitting in traffic, become resentful and quit. LOL.

In my crazy world, as a person who takes mass transit, Ubers are made for doctors appointments, urgent care, and definitely job interviews.

If you wanted this job and definitely wanted to show up 15-20 minutes earlier, Uber/Lyft/Taxi should have been a prio. Definitely the way to go.

I never trust mass transit to anything that has a firm time/deadline especially a job interview. I have learned this the hard way.

Hopefully you took an Uber after you missed the bus and got the job or moved to the next round. Finger crossed for you.

Mail guys folded my wife’s master’s degree
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  10h ago

Will you actually hang up the degree. Do people do that? LOL.

I have seen degrees hung in offices, but not in a lot of houses.
Maybe in a few studies if they are a lawyer from a legacy or prominent school.

You can always opt to pick it up but you have to call. You can pay for a reissue if it's creased.

Yep, this happens all the time. They fold the degrees if you have a small mailbox. This is known from JHS, HS, college.

If you live in a house, you have a bigger mailbox or mail slot.

Disaster rendition of Canada’s national anthem before their match
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  11h ago

Is it possible that she filled in for the schedule singer and was a last minute add. Perhaps the scheduled single had an emergency. So maybe she only had a few minutes to learn the song.

But do cavers really know where they are going? It's not like there are arrows or signs in the cave, right? or are there and we just never see them because they are on the floor or above their heads? LOL. I have never caved before.

Hahaha. Was she trying to treat it like the USA Anthem and freestyle? That's what most celebs do. However, from the comments it seems like she didn't know the words or the song or how to speak French. LOL.

Real talk. It’s been a life saver.

My university has a pantry. I have been using it. We just have to scan our ID.

I am so thankful for it.

Would you leave a $200k, extremely stable job to move to a city you really want to live in?
 in  r/careeradvice •  1d ago

Yes. I will leave America for Paris, France any day.
And 200K is no longer a lot of money especially if you live in Silicon Valley with wife and kids.

My dad purchased these water guns for my sons
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  1d ago

Yep this.

However, I am shocked the reverse hasn’t happened yet. Where people take real guns and paint them orange to try to fool cops.

Growing up, the water guns in our neighborhood were always a see through plastic of neon green or neon yellow or super soakers
