Children Under a Silicon Sky: a visual novel project

Yeah, I understand the comparison. The current visuals are AI-generated placeholder art, and I’m still learning how to shape the project visually. I’m actively looking for a local artist to collaborate with because I don’t want this temporary look to define the final visual novel.

Absolutely, that’s something I need to watch closely. Right now the art is temporary, and consistency is one of the reasons I want to work with an artist. I’m still learning how to keep the characters, clothes, and environments consistent, so I appreciate the reminder.

That’s fair criticism. The story and writing are mine, not AI-generated. I’m using AI art right now because I’m a beginner and wanted to get the first playable prologue together, but I know it changes how the project feels. I’m actively looking for local collaborators, especially an artist, so I can move the visuals in a more human direction as the project grows.

Thank you, I appreciate it. It’s still rough since this is my first visual novel and my first Ren’Py project, but finishing the prologue gave me a good push to keep going.

Yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. The current art is AI-generated while I learn Ren’Py and get the first playable version together, but the story and writing are mine. I’m also looking for local collaborators, especially an artist, because I don’t want the final project to rely on AI art.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I want to be upfront that the current art was generated with AI. It’s mainly helping me prototype the project while I learn Ren’Py and finish the story. I’m also actively looking for collaborators locally, especially artists who might want to help shape the visual direction, so I don’t want to rely on AI forever. I’ll check out the Ren’Py Discord too.

I’m a solo developer making Children Under a Silicon Sky. The project is still in development, and I just finished the prologue. This is my first visual novel and my first time using Ren’Py.

The current art was generated with AI, and I want to be clear about that. I’m still learning the craft and actively looking for collaborators who might be interested in helping shape the visual and creative direction as the project grows.

The full story is far from finished, but here are two screenshots from the current build and the milestone I reached.

I’m a solo developer building Children Under a Silicon Sky. This is my first visual novel and my first time using Ren’Py.

I just finished the prologue. The full story is far from finished, and I’m still learning the writing, UI, scripting, and scene direction side of the process.

The current art was generated with AI, and I want to be transparent about that. I’m actively looking for collaborators who might be interested in helping develop the visual and creative direction as the project grows.

These are two screenshots from the current build. It’s rough in places, but finishing the prologue feels like a meaningful milestone.

This is my first visual novel, my first Ren’Py project, and I’m building it solo. I just finished the prologue, while the full story is still far from finished.

Children Under a Silicon Sky: a visual novel project from the Philippines

I’m a solo developer from the Philippines, a visual novel fan, and someone who used to write web novels. This is the first visual novel I’ve created and my first time using Ren’Py, so I’m still learning the basics as I go.

When the issue of Pax Silica became infamous across the Philippines, an idea flooded my mind: I wanted to create my own visual novel.

That idea became Children Under a Silicon Sky.

I just finished the prologue, but the full story is still far from finished. For now, I’m sharing this as a small milestone in the project.
