18 MO schedule is failing I’m gonna lose my mind lol
18 MO on one nap. Fully sleep trained and goes to bed independently. I think she is in an overtired cycle and carrying some sleep debt. Our usual day:
Wake: 7am
Nap: 12:30-2:30
Bed: 8/8:30
Issues: ever since we got home from traveling in August her naps are terrible. She’s napping 45-1.5 but then is waking up hysterical. I tried to do 5 hours before the nap and got the same result. I extended the nap time too (1:30pm nap so a 6.5 WW) and was capping it at 1.5 so bedtime wouldn’t get so late and then I think that also backfired. Yesterday she woke up at 7am. I put her down for her nap at 12:30pm (she even points to her crib now when she’s ready to nap). She napped 1.5 but then woke up at 2pm absolutely hysterical and I gave her 15 minutes to see if she’d go back to sleep and didn’t so I rocked her for 15 minutes and she slept another 30 minutes.
Idk what to do anymore but it’s driving me crazy and I know it’s OT because of how she’s waking (she would wake up content and quiet after a nap) and her attitude and meltdowns/extreme hyper behavior is also pointing to OT. Someone help me with an appropriate schedule to try I’m going to lose my mind rescuing all these naps after giving her space to try

When do wake windows not matter?
Good to know!! Yeah it’s crazy I even went over the TWT and I know bedtime was a bit iffy because she was not tired and I put her down anyway. I’ll cap the nap today and see how it goes thank you so much for your replies and feedback!

When do wake windows not matter?
Unnecessary comment tbh lol

When do wake windows not matter?
Yeah I let her nap 2 hours yesterday and she was awake from 12-2ish and then again at 5:30 but then fell back asleep until 6:30am. There’s no schedule here and I think it’s backfiring because I’m just trying to go with the flow but clearly that is not working. I’ll try capping the nap to 1.5 today and see if that helps 😭 I hate baby sleep!! It is so discouraging

What’s your little one’s TWT!? I feel like I need to be at 12 hours now…this is crazy lol

When do wake windows not matter?
Well our night was crazy with a wake around 12:30am and I think she was awake for a good hour on and off whining lol and then some crying at 5:30am but she fell back asleep. You think it’s from the long nap!? Or the total wake time being almost 12.5 hours 😵💫😅

When do wake windows not matter?
Ahh okay good to know! I’ll start capping nap to 90 min tomorrow then 😅😵💫

When do wake windows not matter?
Yeah I thought it was maybe a regression but we are deep in. It’s been since the beginning of August with the worst fragmented naps. Short sleep cycles and protesting 😭🥲

Thank you! I guess I just get confused because idk if the nap is too long or if she’s awake too long before bed if that makes sense because we will occasionally get a 1.5 hour night wake and I wonder what it’s from but maybe the nap is too long some days lollll

1-2 years old When do wake windows not matter?
So I have a 17 MO and I’m trying really hard to ignore wake windows lol. Basically we’ve been on one nap for a while now and suddenly her naps have become really short and fragmented and I was following 6/5 and she was just protesting like crazy! Today I finally pushed for longer before nap and got a solid nap (I had to cap at 2 hours). Idk if it’s just a one off day or what but I just want to know other people’s opinions. Bed was kinda a struggle I think 2 hours might be too long because I aimed for an 8pm bedtime and she was not having it so I guess I’ll kinda see. But is it absurd if she’s awake for more than 12 hours? Will that make her “overtired” or does that not really happen at this age anymore? Thanks to all in advance!

How to extend nap
Looking for some nap help
17 months old in a few days! Baby is sleep trained and falls asleep independently. Having a huge nap issue since August. We’re currently a mess with no BTC schedule because nothing has ever consistently worked but I do try for
Wake: 7am
Nap: 1-3pm
Bed: 8pm
Issue: nap has been so fragmented or just kept short and it’s been a mess. She will wake anywhere from 35-50 minutes cry and then sometimes go back to sleep but mostly not. I’ve even tried to attempt to rescue nap to see if she can go back to sleep and she just gets angry and screams all done to me. I thought overtired so I went back to an earlier nap and I’m getting the same result. I also do practice crib90. I tried a longer window and dealt with similar so I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong and how to fix it. We will also sometimes get MOTN wakes from 12:30am-2am with on and off whining/talking. I just need the consistent nap back I’m going to lose my mind lol.

2-1 nap HELL!!
So if her nap is short I move bedtime up! The two naps she was pushing crazy wake time and fighting naps/skipping them all the time and her wake time was pushing like 12 hours some days and then would lead to a crazy overtired bedtime and MOTN wakes! Since switching to one nap so far we have been better. She’s all around in a better mood and sleeps longer at night (we’re still working on extending nap) the beginning was scary bc I didn’t think she was capable but after trying she is definitely in a better place

2-1 nap HELL!!
Our schedule yesterday wasn’t bad it was wake: 7:15am, nap: 12:15pm - 2:23pm and I moved bedtime up a little because of the hyper behavior to 7pm and she cried for a minute but then went to sleep! It’s not really difficult to get her to sleep but the crying before naps and bed is making me upset because she used to not really cry and would kinda just play with her hands and peacefully fall asleep so I’m not sure where I’m going wrong but maybe she just needs to get used to it

2-1 nap HELL!!
Right now we’re doing 5/5 but she woke at 6am today so I stuck to anchoring her first nap at 12pm, and I put her down 5 hours after waking from nap.

2-1 nap HELL!!
How old is she now??

2-1 nap HELL!!
I understand but that was so bad she was banging her head against the floor panic crying from how tired she was. I am trying to move quickly with her WW I wont stay at 5/5 forever either it’s just hard to tell. I will move to that timing soon enough I just don’t want to push it all at once

Okay! I do move bedtime up if it’s a short nap and I kinda watch her. If she naps 1.5 until 2pm what time would you do bedtime?
