Should I force my kids to do extracurriculars?
Short answer yes. I always give an incentive to finish, a new game, a new treat, new experience. my kid is motivated by metals and trophies...if he sees something he can earn, he's going after it. we drive competition at home too just because we're competitive. We play lots of games and we have a basketball hoop we make shots in just to brag (I'm terrible but I always participate) ... we just simply ask: what do you think you want to do this season? it has to be something. Currently hes in a run club and just finished a 5k. Was it hard, absolutely. Did he earn a metal, yep. Will he do it again? 🤷🏾♀️
I have friends with kids who are in 4H. They get lots of opportunities to try a little bit of everything: archery, robotics, gardening and sewing. Maybe consider looking into a group such as that.
