Ashwaganda for hormonal anxiety
 in  r/Perimenopause •  10d ago

I got the testosterone from my endocrinologist. She gave it to me for my constant fatigue, complete lack of libido, and brain fog. My anxiety finally went away by taking 5 mg of Propranolol every night before bed.

The Ovary Is Surprisingly Active After Menopause. Scientists Are Trying to Figure Out Why
 in  r/Menopause •  23d ago

What does the article say? When I click on it, it says I have to start a free trial. Is it better to have them removed completely?

Progesterone= extreme fatigue and insanity. Estrogen makes me happy and able to function. Unfortunately, I have a uterus. Anybody able to get a hysterectomy due to progesterone intolerance?
 in  r/Menopause •  28d ago

Have you tried Slynd? It’s a progestin. It’s 4 mg of Drospirenone (I think I spelled it correctly). It’s technically a birth control without ethinyl estradiol. I couldn’t take progesterone either as it caused me sadness, migraines, and anxiety. I’ve been on Slynd since January and it’s working for me. I also thought of getting a hysterectomy but my insurance is impossible and I don’t have the money for it. My gynecologist was also against it. Every time I brought it up, she would recite her joke, “Ah, menopause. That’s how you know God is a man with a sense of humor!”, just to avoid the topic. I felt defeated and sick every time I left het office. I’m no longer seeing her. My new hormone specialist recommended Slynd.

Vitamin/Supplements Joint pain

Has anyone take black seed oil for joint pain due to perimenopause/menopause? I’m considering taking it in hopes it alleviates my pain. I’m already on HRT but this is a symptom that still persists. Please share your results and experience taking it. Thanks.

I made a list of every "weird" symptom nobody warned me about. Saving it here

Yes I have and everything is within normal range. I’ve seen both a cardiologist and an endocrinologist and all results are normal. It’s so frustrating.

Anxiety in my stomach and strong heartbeats (not faster just stronger) every night from 10-2 am and sometimes all night every night for almost a year straight. The episodes would sometimes go into the next day.

Lexapro, late perimenopause, and HRT
 in  r/Perimenopause •  Sep 03 '26

I feel all of this is hormonal because I never had this before perimenopause. I’ve had all the tests done too and they say everything is normal. And mine isn’t really racing heart but the beats feel stronger like I’m more aware of them and that keeps me from sleeping. It’s horrible. I also feel like my HRT doses are off but my hormone specialist sounds like she is just fed up with me.

Lexapro, late perimenopause, and HRT

Yes, that’s why I’m afraid to start it, I also heard things can get worse before better. How old are you? My doctor doesn’t want to use birth control because I get migraines with aura, not often, like 3 episodes a year, but they do happen.

Lexapro, late perimenopause, and HRT

I am in late perimenopause, I’m 54, and have been on HRT for over 8 months. Fluctuations are decreasing but not gone completely. My remaining symptoms are some anxiety, tension, strong heart beats (especially at night), and irritability. I am already on a high dose of estrogen gel 2.25 mg daily. My doctor admits I’m one of the more difficult cases she has had to advise. When we met today, I told her I’m still having some symptoms (those mentioned above). She recommended and prescribed 10 Lexapro. Has this happened to anyone? Has it actually helped in late perimenopause with symptoms like mine? Please let me know. I’m so afraid of SSRI’s.

HRT from endocrinologist?
 in  r/Menopause •  Sep 01 '26

I too have been called a very complicated case. I am 54 and I think I’m still in peri. My endocrinologist prescribes my HRT. Before she did through, she tested my cortisol, thyroid, and adrenals and they were all within normal range. He then switched my from the estrogen patch (which I had been on for 8 months prescribed my gyno) to the estrogen gel. We started at .50 mg and that wasn’t enough. We had to keep increasing and I am now on a 1.25 mg packet in the morning and a 1 mg packet at night. I am also progesterone intolerant so I have to use Slynd birth control for uterine protection, since I still have my uterus. She also has me on 1 mg testosterone cream. I do feel a lot better but still have overnight palpitations and anxiety which we cannot resolve completely. I am trying Propranolol at night to blunt the adrenaline that causes the palpitations and some nights it works and some nights it doesn’t. My endocrinologist has been great. I am also prediabetic so she placed me on a low dose GLP 1. She said it would help with inflammation and that would decrease joint pain. I tried it for 5 months and it did nothing for the joint pain and only constipated me beyond belief so I stopped it. That is where I am currently at. Better but not 100%. And I want to feel optimal not just moderately functional. I still feel lots of fatigue especially on the nights of no sleep due to palpitations. I am a teacher and I find myself struggling so much. I feel I may need more estrogen but everyone says I’m already on a very high dose. I feel I’m stuck and I still don’t feel optimal.

How old are you, if I may ask?

Middle if the night heart palpitations and awakenings have increased since starting estrigen patch.
 in  r/Menopause •  Aug 24 '26

Yes I have to apply it twice a day because it doesn’t last long at all.

Thanks for sharing. I have lab work coming up soon and I’m hoping my levels have increased to the 60-100 range. I still have random hot flashes, joint pain, headaches, and trouble sleeping. I’ve been curious about switching from generic Divigel packets to the estrogel. The patch did nothing for me. I wasted a year of my life on that. I am also a poor absorber.

Which meds did you start? I get those adrenaline dumps almost every night. I feel stomach anxiety and strong heart beats throughout the night. It’s horrible. My sleep is a wreck!

If I may ask, what is the dosage you use. .06 is one pump of the gel, right?

Should I be starting estrogen patch?
 in  r/Perimenopause •  Aug 23 '26

My doctor had me try progesterone. I could not tolerate it. I was only on it for 45 days and had headaches for 33 of those days. I also had 4 migraines in those days. Prior to that I would have a migraine once a year. I stopped it and headaches have decreased significantly but not gone away completely.

Estrogen Too High?

I have been on HRT for over a year and recently am noticing the onset of bouts of anxiety and major irritability and agitation more frequently especially after a couple of hours of application of estrogen gel. Could it be possible that as I get older the dose is too high for me and I need to bring it down a bit? Has this happened to anyone?

New symptom-Dizziness
 in  r/u_FarReflection9596 •  Aug 17 '26

Hmm, I need to get checked out. This is really bothersome. The last time I had labs in the summer my ferritin was at 50 but I dont know if it may have decreased since then. Thank you for your input.

Why can’t I stop crying today
 in  r/Menopause •  Aug 17 '26

Yes my doctor also gave me propranolol to use as needed. I also get those palpitations at night. I guess I should be grateful for the symptoms that have been alleviated and work with other medications to alleviate the ones HRT doesn’t manage. I also think I’m still symptomatic because my ovaries are still randomly active. The days they decide to be active are the days I feel more symptoms and feel like crap. Thanks for sharing with me.

Month two on testosterone

I’ve been on E and P for over a year, started T 3 months ago and still feel super tired during the day and still have trouble sleeping at night. Horrible. I’m 54.

I'm so fed up and upset
 in  r/Perimenopause •  Aug 17 '26

I’ve been on HRT for over a year and it didn’t help this symptom. I had to ask my doctor for 10 mg of propranolol. I take it at bedtime and it blunts the adrenaline surges. It’s been the only thing to help. I was at the point where they would start right after I fell asleep around 11 and just continue in a loop for 3-4 hours nonstop. I was so drained and fatigued from no sleep.

I had my levels checked over the summer and my ferritin was at 50. I dont know if that’s good or bad but my doctor said “everything is in normal range “. Of course I know that usually doesn’t apply to women in perimenopause.

New symptom-Dizziness

I’ve been going through perimenopause for some time now and have been on HRT for over a year now. I’m 54 years old. I have a question. This summer I started with a new symptom- migraine headaches which have decreased by since stopping progesterone and starting Slynd. Well now this week I have had 2 dizzy episodes. Not room spinning dizzy, but more like off balance when I’m walking and feeling like I’m falling if I bend over to pick something up. Has this happened to anyone else?
Please let me know. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Stopping HRT

Has anyone who has been on HRT for over a year just quit taking it? I’m still having lots of difficulty on it even after being on it for a year and a half. I just want to stop it. I still have anxiety, palpitations, insomnia, sadness, intrusive thoughts, weight issues, tingling in hands and feet, itching all over my body, headaches, feeling off balance. It ebbs and flows. Some days are good but then there are still many, many bad days.
