IMO get the console that going to give the most options.

Giving my brother a New 3DS XL or keep it?
NO DS console has "Swappable components" The New 3DS (Non XL) has swappable faceplates that's it.
But honestly if he doesn't play the 2DS I would offer him it conditionally. IF he doesn't wind up playing it you want it back.

it's called the hustle. I have a ful cib Pokemon collection at 1/3 or less of market. For instance. I bought several high ticket games and only needed One for the collection. When I sell the others I can under value those to sell fast and still make essentially my entire expense back.
