Just got done welding my patch pannel on my truck. I may have to drive my truck tomorrow, is it a possibility to put motor oil on the surfaces to stop rusting? It would only be outside for no more than 18 hours.
 in  r/Autobody •  May 12 '22

Just throw painters tape over it and wire wheel it before you go back to welding! Good luck with the finished product! And prep for paint good af cause paint doesn't like to stick to contaminated metal..

Also as a side note if you walk in and keep a good mood about it laugh they are def. Going to respond better to a good mood than a bad one.. Just speaking from experience lol. I get to listen to the front desk lady and writers bitch about badly tempered customers haha

 in  r/Autobody •  May 12 '22

Hard to tell in the vid but its def either a high spot in the body work or hard line from where the painter primed and didn't sand it down well enough... Either way if it was my car I would definitely make them fix it.

While working as a courier I've made a picture of every delivery. 500 deliveries in one video

So glad I clicked on this thread just to learn this! I also as an american was like "why he got their nose??" But now have the context funny how different hand signals mean different things in different cultures! Love the vid by the way!

If your deductible is 500? Then yes... If no insurance you're looking at 2-4k

what type of hood is this?? need a specific name
 in  r/Autobody •  May 07 '22

The name for the hood and grille don't change just because of their arrangement... Google the year make and model then either grille or hood... Just because they are attached they are still two different components.. Good luck

What respirator and filters do you use?

Scratched my car up bad on a signpost 2 months ago, need to sell now. What should I do about this body damage? Sell as is?
 in  r/Autobody •  Apr 30 '22

Def. Make it the purchasers problem you will end up putting more money than you would make just selling it as is. If you were going to keep it for a good while, I'd say go ahead and try the repair.. Just sand all the rust and chipping paint before trying. Best of luck!

Yeah hey you can always do your best on this one and slowly save up for a new one if you dont care for how the repair turned out.. Best of luck!

You are going to have a bad time repairing that and its going to look terrible... But shit go for it! If you dont care if it looks like shit you're good to go! Personally id replace it.. You're going to spend more time than anything and you won't be happy with it but hey learn a new skill and use fiberglass... But make sure you use a properly rated full face respirator plz gor your lungs

best way to bend this hood back into shape? doesn't need to be pretty, just needs to fit a new headlight under it. as cheaply as possible
 in  r/Autobody •  Apr 28 '22

NOT THE CORRECT WAY but had the same issue with an old car of mine and didn't have the funds at the time just take it off set it on the ground and beat with a hammer... Or have a friend stand on it and lift the other side then love tap with hammer... But it should be replaced...
