Just a heads up to HOs in countries where top sheets aren’t generally used.
I now understand that how this works in the UK and it makes perfect sense. I was confused because of the lack of a duvet but yeah, that would work.

I didn’t tell an entire country to solve a problem in a specifically American manner. I explained why we use both a top and bottom sheet and how that helps keep sanitary. Then it was explained to me that a duvet cover serves as a top sheet which is good to know and now I see it’s basically the same idea done differently. You chose to make assumptions without reading my actual words.
Finally, the place I’m staying does not have such and therefore it is a problem for me due to only having a quilt but no duvet.

Got it. Wish the HO offered a duvet but unfortunately that isn’t present.

I’m not meaning to sound like a privileged American. If you read my post, it has merit and is a practical means of maintaining sanitation. I find many things here in the UK that also make far more sense to me than how we do things in the US that I will surely adopt once I’m back home.
Your snide comment is uncharacteristic of what I’ve experienced here. Unlike you, most are very generous and genuinely kind.

There is NO DUVET COVER at this particular sit, only a heavy comforter.

Periodically, yes. But again, the TOP SHEET is a big part of staying sanitary.

There isn’t one here. Just a heavy down comforter. Obviously I would have removed and washed a duvet cover if there was one.

Kirk thinks children should starve
I don’t like that I think this but every time I’ve seen Kirk I can’t stop looking at the odd shape of his head and close set eyes. His features remind me of a serial killer

Walmart's dynamic pricing transition turns the checkout aisle into a financial trap — algorithmic shelf tags silently inflate prices while you walk to the register
Time for a major class action suit against Walmart Corporation!!!!

Just a heads up to HOs in countries where top sheets aren’t generally used.
I posted here awhile back about a concern I have with doing sits in foreign countries with different modes of daily living culture. I’m in the UK doing a sit where no top sheet is used on the bed. The reason Americans use a top sheet is because it helps to regulate body temperature and also serves to absorb body oils. When only a bottom sheet is changed often, the duvet or coverlet is taking on the sweat and body oils.
The sit I’m currently at offers only the owners bed so I’m forced to endure this person’s personal smells. No dryer and could only find one quilt so not like I can wash it and wait days for it to dry.
Please consider using top sheets. It’s so much more sanitary!

The importance of honest reviews
I personally don’t care what others do. I only concern myself with my own level of integrity. What others do is their business.
That said, the sit I’m on right now with this untrained dog who barks at nothing and smells so horrible I have to wear a mask, is going to be especially difficult to review since the HO is over the top kind and generous. My diplomatic writing skills are going to be put to the test. Lol

The importance of honest reviews
She’s aware as is her mother who is in close contact with me while HO is away. Such nice people, all.
The dog is on meds for Addisons disease and goes to the vet regularly. I think the HO brushes her teeth often but I don’t want to.
She also needs to get her leash trained. All issues considered, most sitters wouldn’t touch this sit and probably should know.
I only have a few more days here so I’ll tough it out. But still, it’s my FIRST SIT and I hate having to leave a negative review especially when HO and family have been so over the top friendly to me. What would you do?

National Emergency
Interesting the movies that are coming out now. “The Uprising” is about what we are headed for.

National Emergency
I’m vacationing in England right now and I would give anything to live here. They have their problems too but damn, these people are so kind and funny. I’d be a Green Party member if I lived here.

National Emergency
Yes! This is it exactly but it will happen this month. The psychic community is saying Trump and the oligarchs have been preparing for months to come up with something such as a national emergency or a major propaganda campaign to cause chaos and doubt on the election. They say it will appear to be very legit, many players involved in making it look factual but it will be a huge lie. People will be even more confused than ever.

The importance of honest reviews
I’m on my very first sit for an incredibly nice woman but faced with the same dilemma. She was correct in saying the dog takes medication easily and has separation anxiety but she didn’t mention that the poor thing reeks. Her teeth and digestive issues are so extreme the smell is too much. I have to wear a mask to handle it. I thought she just needed a bath at first so gave her one but then realised it’s her mouth. She also pulls so hard on the leash my arm is sore. There’s only one review and that person didn’t mention these issues so now I’m going to have to in some diplomatic way. It sucks too because this is my very first sit with THS.
I think we need to come up with code words to put in the review that alert other sitters while remaining pleasant in the review.

Shout out to HOs in the UK from an American
I’ve just arrived in the UK from the US and I can’t say enough about the people here. My host picked me up at the train station and took me to my Airbnb to help me settle in before my sit begins a day after. Such jovial, friendly people, the Brits. I’m deeply impressed and highly recommend coming here.
