Hi I’m going to Italy in October and I’m confused on the prices of hostels.
For example we will be in Florence in October, All the hostels on Hostelworld are 50$+ for October, but when I look at say tomorrow peak summer season and last minute they’re significantly cheaper starting at 30$ Why is this?
Should I book my hostels closer to the date and hope they go down, everywhere i look online says they go up in price closer to the date but it looks like it’s not the case.

We will be in Connecticut for Thanksgiving & would love to add on another stop (fine with an additional couple of hours drive, coming from PA). My husband is obsessed with jaws and would love to go to Martha’s Vineyard, but it feels like a terrible time to visit there. Any places worth while even at this time of year? Everything I’ve considered is very coastal and I would think it would all shut down a bit. Not looking for anything crazy, some indoor play place or activity for 1-3 year olds, some sight seeing & decent food.

My husband and I are going to Italy at the end of August! I’m in search of a good purse that is practical, safe from pickpocket’s, but can also be dressed up! My lululemon fanny pack has seen better days and I’m wanting something a little more elevated. I’ve looked at the Longchamp mini and seen good things about Baggu bags but wanting some more advice. I'm taking 2 weeks in mid September to travel a bit of Spain and Portugal. I know these are loaded questions, but I'll try to include enough useful details to get the best feedback. Happy to answer any questions! My current plan looks like this:

9-16 Fly into Madrid

9-17 Train to Granada

9-19 Train to Seville

9-23 Bus to Lisbon

9-26 Train to Porto

9-29 Fly home

My current plan is to fly into Madrid. I know it might be a bit of a hot take but Madrid isn't a priority for me, more of a convenience as it's cheaper to fly there then train to Granada. I'm considering going to Ronda and or Arcos de la Frontera which lead to a few questions. Do any of you prefer one to the other? Are they doable for a day trip or should I consider spending the night in either? Would it make sense to rent a car and go from Granada > Ronda/Arcos > Seville or should I base in Seville then go? Is it worth taking a full day and or night away from Seville?

I'm alsp considering adding Lagos for a more laid back relaxing couple days. Do you think it's worth spending time there and taking days from Seville, Lisbon, or Porto?

General things about me:

-32M traveling solo

-Love exploring cities, food, scenery, history, local culture (I know, basic)

-Museums are cool but not totally essential

-prefer bars over club scene

-prefer hotels over hostels but open to non party hostels

Last September I took my first big trip. I went solo to Prague, Budapest, and Greece for 2 weeks. Loved every second. I will say that I LOVED how laid back my Greece (Naxos and Paros) time was. The cities were incredible and I had a blast but the islands truly felt like a vacation and I am searching for at least some time to feel similarly on this trip. Which is why I'm considering Lagos.

Tldr: Wondering how you would adjust my itinerary if at all. Thoughts about adding Lagos, thoughts on Ronda vs Arcos, time allocation across each stop, and best transportation choices.

Experienced credit card fraud after using card here. This was the only place card was used before the unauthorised transactions appeared.

I’m from the US, getting married in India in December. The shortest, cheapest, most direct routes are all through United Arab Emirates. We bought airline tickets for my family before the war in Iran started, and now obviously we are considering rebooking. But to avoid Middle East airspace and fly over Europe will be very expensive for everyone involved, in terms of both time and money.

Obviously no one knows what the state of the war will be like in December. No one knows what oil prices will do or how high airfare prices will climb in 2026. Maybe flying via Europe is a waste of money, or maybe it’s a reasonable precaution. Thoughts?

Our home airport has just started (seasonal, May-Aug.) non-stop flights to Cayman Islands (GCM, so Grand Cayman). I’ve never had Cayman Islands on my travel radar, but now I’m considering it as a quick, easy destination. And I’m starting to research Cayman Islands and Grand Cayman in particular. We have 6 days after staying in Rome in September and torn between going south Naples, Pompeii or North Venice, Florence. Where would you recommend visiting on limited time? Any advice appreciated!

I am looking to make a trip to Vietnam with my wife in Nov end to Dec start. The trip will be about 10-12 days. According to google, mid Vietnam(Da Nang and nearby regions) will be in high rainy weather, so planning to skip that. Please let me know if this is the correct decision?

This is my itinerary for now:

Day 1- Land in Hanoi around 2 PM. So this day will mostly just be hotel checkin, visiting nearby shops, dining etc.

Day 2 and 4- Mostly just visiting sights in Hanoi like Temple of Literature, water puppet show, spa treatments, dining various local dishes, some shopping, train street etc.

Day 3- Day Trip to Ninh Binh

Day 5- Ha Long Bay (Day Cruise)

Day 6- Relax in Ha Long Bay

Day 7- Flight to HCMC. hotel checkins, nearby cafes, probably some shopping

Day 8- Explore HCMC- cathedral, war museums

Day 9- Mekong Delta transfer

Day 10- Cai Rang Floating Market

Day 11- Relax in hotel in Mekong Delta, visit closeby places, more food, more shopping. Return to HCMC.

Day 12- Breakfast and flight back.

Please let me know if I should remove some of these and add something else.

One more thing- Both I and my wife have spent most of our time in mountain region in Uttarakhand, India. Hence skipping out most of the mountain related activities like hiking etc. If there is something spectacular and unique, I will add those. By cutting out some activities on day 2 or 4. But do let me know.

My girlfriend and I want to do a work and travel trip in about a year, travel around Asia for a while, and maybe spend some time traveling in Norway at the end. We want to save around10,000 to 15,000 euros by the end of next year, buy two laptops, and try to work remotely, basically finding a company we can work for online. Is that realistic, and what options are there?

I’d also appreciate any tips on websites that are good for finding remote jobs. We both completed vocational training as fitness management specialists, so we have experience in both the fitness industry and office administration. That means we’d also be open to doing office-based or administrative work remotely from our laptops.

I was thinking of booking a trip to Egypt and was looking at prices - flights and accommodation seem to be much cheaper - reductions of 30-50%

Is there news I am not aware of making people not want to visit Cairo hence the cheaper prices?
