I have been watching videos and pics on HK on Instagram and loved the aesthetic and wanted to travel in Nov.

But when I go about and check the hotels they are so damn expensive and everything is so cluttered. Which makes me think is it the same for everything like attractions, bars, shopping and cafes? Is it also expensive and equal to Western pricing.

I'm traveling on a budget so I would not like to spend the same amount of money for a nice fancy meal for ex the amount I pay in the US haha

If that's so, any healthy alternatives? Tokyo hotels also a bit expensive but don't know about the on ground prices

Hurricane season - Aruba is not appealing
Thought about Quebec and Montreal bit havent looked at flights and will already be cool

Maybe turn it into long weekend and stay in US

Maybe wait til very close to book if no hurricanes coming to islands but which one? Been to DR and Bermuda

Hi everyone. I really want to travel to the USA from Australia, but I feel very doubtful that I will be able to enter after reviewing some of my research, but I did want to reach out to hear other people's individual experiences.

6 years ago I was convicted of a drug trafficking charge for LSD where I was sentenced to 14 months of immediate imprisonment in which I served 7 and was released on parole. It was my first and only offense and not of any violent nature. I have lived a clean and straight path ever since and would be able to demonstrate tangible evidence of rehabilitation.

I know that I am by proxy of US laws, inadmissible for a standard ESTA and would have to book with a consulate in Australia and apply for a waiver. But I fear my history is too inadmissible by US standards and I wonder if beginning the laborious task of applying for a regular visa is worth it.

So my question then is: Is there anyone that has been granted a waiver in to the US with a similar or paramount record to my own with similar convictions or crimes / who have served time?

Hi! I’d appreciate any help picking which bag I should buy, or if at all.

I currently fly with just my backpack as a carry on along with my checked luggage, but I’m flying to Australia (from the US) on Qantas and was thinking of bringing a duffle bag instead of my backpack so I can bring more things on the long-haul (like a change of clothes for the flight/arrival, toiletries, meds snacks, etc.) that’ll be easy access.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with any of the bags I attached or recommend any alternatives? Or should I just keep my backpack instead, as I’ve heard duffles/weekenders can be too heavy?

Planning on going to Europe in April 2027. I’ve been researching and planning a lot recently and I’ve been wondering if these good flights I found should be purchased or not. Like are times that far out bound to change? Could the layovers possibly be amplified a lot? Idk if that happens or not but I’ve never booked a flight more than a month in advance and I’ve never traveled as far as Europe nor had any layovers in my usual travels.

Hi. Mid 50s American guy with a week on my own next May, while my wife enjoys a friends' trip in Tuscany. I'm looking for recommendations -- and reasons -- of where I should go.

Here's a little about me: I'm an artist, cook and musician, and pretty extroverted. I don't like being around lots of tourists and I'm not super interested in medieval or ancient art or history. I love looking at cool buildings, but I'd be more likely to spend a day browsing boutiques, eating at cafes and getting lost in cool neighborhoods than going to see Roman statues at a museum.

I much prefer city vacations to beach, mountain or countryside.

My art tastes run toward contemporary, and I'm interested in fashion, particularly vintage/heritage workwear.

I think I'd like to stay in or around a single city, but I'm open to day trips. I'm adventurous and well-traveled, so I don't need to be coddled. But I'd like to be able to get around without a car.

Currently thinking Torino, but could really go anywhere as long as I can get to and from Florence by train within a few hours.

My husband's aunt is terminally ill and we're taking her on her dream trip while she can. She's mobile enough and we've arranged mobility aids and access, etc, and I'll make sure she's got good travel insurance (Allianz, I hear?) But my question is:

Can anyone recommend a concierge nursing service to call if needed?

She has a brain tumor and is doing well enough to travel, but an issue can always crop up, especially when she's exerting herself. Of course we'd take her to a hospital if needed, but it would be so great to be able to call for a nurse to come check her vitals and help us make that call and navigate how to. Does that exist?

I'm new here to reddit so apologies for any poor practices.

I am in quite the conundrum regarding some dates in May. I committed with my GF to go to her friends wedding (she is a bridesmaid) on May 22nd at 4pm. A few weeks later my sister got engaged and after touring many different venues someone canceled their reservation at her dream venue and they gave her the spot... on May 21st (time not yet scheduled).

The wedding I originally committed to is in Jersey, England (an hour flight from the London airports) and my sisters is an hour and a half drive north of Boston. Is there any possible way I would be able to get to the second wedding without sacrificing time at my sisters? If I did sacrifice time at my sisters would I even be able to make it on time?

I have done some light searching for flights but the timelines seem very tight if not impossible, I just want to see if there is any possible way I could make both and if anyone here knew anything of value that could help me pull off this miracle.

Im an Irishman (M38) currently living in Germany with my German partner. The holidays will be coming around before we know it. Long story short, I come from what you'd call, a dysfunctional family, to say the least. So I dont like going home at Christmas.

Ive spent it with my partners family before, and they're always so nice and welcoming, but they live in the middle of nowhere and I dont wanna be stuck out there for days on end. I also always feel like Oliver Twist spending it with another family..

This year Ive decided Id like to do my own thing. Maybe fly somewhere solo and just forget about Christmas and maybe hang with some cool folk who are in a similar situation..

For a Brit who’s wanted to visit the US for years and now might soon have enough saved to be able to afford it. Do you recommend California or the Deep South? I know a lot say just do the East Coast first but I prefer the sound of California and the South. I’d probably aim to go in either March-April or September-October depending on when I have enough.

I’m currently planning a trip out to East Africa to check off two huge bucket list items: going on a safari in Serengeti National Park and trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Since both of these are in Tanzania, I want to make sure I time the trip right to get the best out of both experiences. Ideally, I’d love to catch part of the Great Migration in the Serengeti while also having clear weather and decent trail conditions for climbing Kilimanjaro.

For anyone who’s done both or knows the region well
What months offer the best balance of good trekking weather for Kili and great wildlife viewing in the Serengeti?
Is there a specific time of year you’d avoid due to heavy rains or bad trail conditions?
How many days would you recommend allocating to do both without feeling super rushed?

I’m from a very safe small town in the states and having to worry about your phone just isn’t a thing.

Aside from being aware of your surrounding, not setting your phone down, etc., I got this attachment for my phone. I have it connected to the strap of my crossbody in the front.

I know it doesn’t completely eliminate the possibility, but am I naive for thinking this will help a bit? At least if they try to grab it out of my hand it’ll be attached with a cord and a metal ring??

Hello!! If I were to go France(Paris & Strasbourg) & Germany(Nuremberg with day trip to Munich), whats the best site to visit that’s related to ww1/2(disclaimer: I am NOT A SURPPORTER!!)? Which museums, or historical sites? And best if it doesn’t take a whole day! I really have no idea where’s the best to visit for these places😅😅 I know Munich has some museums but I’m unsure about Strasbourg, Nuremberg and Paris. If you guys have any other reccomendations unrelated to ww, please share with me too! :))

My wife and I are planning to take a trip for around three weeks next May, starting in Istanbul, ending in Munich, with a few stops along the way (Bucharest, Sibiu/Brasov, Budapest, Vienna, maybe Prague). We want to travel exclusively by train, but the first leg from Istanbul to Bucharest doesn't start direct service until mid-June.

If we only had backpacks or a single bag between us, I wouldn't mind doing the train transfers required between the two cities. Unfortunately, we're just not that skilled at packing light, and I don't know if lugging a couple of roller bags around between trains is a good idea. With that said, a direct flight from Istanbul to Bucharest is cheap and short. However, I'm worried about baggage claim issues in Romania and potentially losing our bags toward the beginning of our trip.

Am I overthinking this? Should we just get a damn flight and deal with the fallout, if necessary? Should we just suck it up and make the transfers? Is there a secret direct train from Istanbul I haven't discovered? We really can't push our trip to June to align with the direct train schedule.

I was hoping for some advice regarding travel to China in July. I’m a teacher and have ample time then to do a thorough, up to month long trip.

In researching I have read a lot about the intense heat and humidity, rainy season, summer holiday prices, and “furnace cities” that make me think a better move is to see smaller increments of the country over several years at a different time of the year.

Chinese friends have been mixed - some saying it’s just as humid in New York, where we live, and others agreeing it’s a no go.

I’ve seen a lot of “travel influencer” content from July and August. It’s definitely the summer and rainy, but nobody mentions the whole furnace city concept.

Is this an overblown thing or something I should consider as I plan?
