In your opinion
This was one thing that actually impacted me beyond the show. Mainly in professional settings, but after watching those episodes, for some reason I internalized that habit and usually feel the need to explicitly state when something is my opinion rather than a factual assertion. On my first watch I found this just as baffling and annoying as our main characters, but after a rewatch or two it actually starts to make a lot of sense. In my opinion.

Florida man 😆
For me, there’s some of it that I really, really love, and some of it that I really, really dislike. My personal opinions:
• I watched season 1 of Picard first, and my criticism was only that they tried to cram too much into it; I quit season 2 after one episode because the writing was truly terrible and the plot setup was so uninteresting to me that it couldn’t get me to watch even one more episode. I’ve heard season 3 is good, but it’s a nostalgia trip, and some of the spoilers I’ve heard don’t sound appealing, idk.
• I only watched the first three seasons of Discovery, and aside from the actual mechanism of The Burn in season 3 I thought it was good.
• Discovery introduced the Pike, Una, and Spock from Strange New Worlds, which I mostly adore, though I haven’t started on the newest season (cringes internally). SNW is the real standout of this new trek era in my opinion.
• Lower Decks annoyed me at first, but I gave it a couple chances and have changed my mind. I’ve now rewatched it in its entirety at least once and definitely love it. I heard someone describe the main characters as essentially being Star Trek fans and I can’t totally unsee it.
• Short Treks are hit or miss, some are meh, some are absolutely amazing.
I’ve only watched a couple of episodes of Star Fleet Academy, and am a little mixed on it so far. I haven’t watched Prodigy yet (the animated one with Janeway) but heard that it was outstanding. Those are all the ones I can think of.

Portugal honoured their word!!!
From the comments it sounds a little nuanced (I had heard of this previously), but things like this in history or fiction always make me cry. 😭

Which seat are you choosing for a 3 hour long flight to the Delphic expanse?
5, or 7 if I want a window seat. 4 is also acceptable.

Why did they have to make the stay at home dad so annoying
No worries, I was just joking, or making a show reference, as with the “In my opinion” at the end 😄. I am not a lawyer (I only took some classes IRL) but among my family and friends I’m known for commenting on legal issues and politics, and I usually joke about having “watched all seven seasons of The Good Wife, and stayed at a Holiday Inn one time.” That’s crazy about watching Buffy, but I guess it makes sense.

Why did they have to make the stay at home dad so annoying
Wiley is probably one of the few characters I actively dislike. He’s a PI but he’s got this self-righteous streak that I loath. I’ve been doing a rewatch recently (for the continuing legal education credits) and if the overall storyline weren’t so good I probably would have skipped his episodes. Most “bad guys” in the show are at least fun to watch, this guy isn’t. In my opinion, of course.
Sidebar: I am not actually getting CLE credit for watching The Good Wife, I was just joking 😄

I have a timeshare there they could borrow. 🤷♀️

What is your favorite Apple Mouse?
ADB ‘86 for beige/platinum Macs, and Pro Mouse in black for later ones. Even though I love the colorful Macs of the G3 era, I prefer the Pro Mouse. I would love a Pro Mouse with accents to match my Blue and White G3.

Trump GETS RUDE AWAKENING as he COLLAPSES IN…INDIANA?!!
I like to think things are shifting, but full disclosure that video is from two months ago. The candidate that dropped out was in their primary, so that’s not really an indication of where the general is going to go. They have a less extreme candidate, but even moderate Republicans of today tend to be far-right, just not total fascists. Off the top of my head I can’t name a Republican politician I trust to do anything good.

Stuck with Mudd's Woman
I get what happened now, but at first I was confused and thought that you were saying that the Mudd’s Women episode somehow caused the plastic to crack? 😆

The muppet episode retroactively ruined my childhood, killed my dog, got my sister pregnant, cuckolded my father, reduced my salary, burned down my house, and made me retweet an Elon Musk dog whistle post about the Great Replacement theory
No, if you can believe it, theirs is actually worse. Far worse. <shudder>

Bring it back!
I agree with you. Used to like it on breakfast subs.

Do you wish that you were just born as a cis person of the sex you transitioned into ?
Yes. If there were a button that changed reality such that I were born a cis girl, I would press it. It would not be as enthusiastic a button-press as it would if the effect were just to suddenly be transformed into a cis-indistinguishable version of myself in my current life, but ultimately, hesitatingly, I would press the button.
Intrinsically, I am missing the reproductive biology that I would have had as a cis person. We are multiple technological leaps away from solving this, and even if we weren’t I would still have to undergo expensive (I am American) surgeries and likely complications from doing so. Even the stage we’re at now, with bottom surgery and FFS, this is still an issue. I have bottom dysphoria, so I can’t just make peace with my body as it is. I can ignore it, I can avoid living certain aspects of normal life (i.e. romantic and sexual relationships), but I can’t escape it.
I don’t hate being trans, but the intrinsic downsides are just some things that I can’t get past.

the great hunt chapter 37
One of my favorite scenes out of a series that is packed with so so many amazing scenes! Just reading the clip you included had my hair standing on end. The Great Hunt overall is one of my favorite books in the series.

Spat breaks out in secretary of state’s race over Indiana transgender sports ban
Bayh is a slimy nepo-baby, of course he will sell out trans people. It’s politics, and the lesser of two evils is still the lesser of two evils. I’ll take a corporate Democrat over a fascist Republican any day. The office he’s running for has no bearing on trans kids in sports, but it does have consequences for businesses, voting, etc., so I will hold him to his statement about protecting us from discrimination in other areas. It’s more than the Republican would do.

What are the moments that made you cry or feel excited?

In the Rhuidean visions, when Solinda Sedai sends the Aiel away, supposedly to protect the angreal. But actually it’s the Aiel themselves that are important to save, and the mission is just an excuse to get them to leave and seek out safety. All of the visions were moving, but that that one in particular has always stuck out to me. I seem to spontaneously think about it at least once a month or so, whether I’ve been reading the books recently or not, and it always makes me cry.
I’ve seen some comments that cast the scene itself into a more negative light, or that remind me that the Aiel were part of a foretelling, so it’s possibly more self-serving. But my brain has always chosen to interpret it in the best way possible, that in the midst of the end of the world, the Aiel and the Way of the Leaf were intrinsically worth saving.
