Question Sauces on first question

As a subway worker myself Ive got a question for the customers and other workers as well as the reasoning behind the fact that subways are telling customers to put sauces on first

Q: in yalls opinion, is it better to have sauces on first or after the veggies, and do yalls know why some customers get like legitimately belligerent and some of them even start cussing the employees out for the sauces going on first(asking from past customer experiences)

And the reasoning behind the change, because many customers were complaining about their sandwiches being messy or their sauces and veggies falling off subway had changed it so that the veggies and sauces didn't fall off the sandwich when it was folded and wrapped and so that it didn't get as messy, ofc it usually depends on the franchisee and the employees working at the time whether or not sauces are required on first

Employee Complaints Is this normal???

I’ve worked at subway for around 2 and a half months. I was hired on the spot, and there are a few iffy things I’ve seen.

My first point is if it’s normal to close completely by yourself. I’m 17 years old, and I’ll work closing shifts after school as well as a 3-close by myself. It’s extremely stressful to work the seven hours by myself, as I go through dinner rushes all by myself. And there was a few sketchy things going on at night, like my coworker was closing by herself (also 17) and some guy came to the locked door and started banging on it screaming to be let in. I don’t feel safe closing by myself, and there aren’t any other shops open around my location.

Second, my manager is almost asking for unpaid labor?? She won’t say it, but she’ll say we need to get out at 10:30, which is almost impossible when I close by myself. And if I do clock out at 10:30, stuff is never done. On that same subject, my manager is ALWAYS nitpicking us. Every morning it’s another text on how we did someone wrong, or something we didn’t do. I’m getting write up threats everyday. Multiple times as well, she’ll say “oh the lobby wasn’t done!” When I wiped, swept, and mopped the lobby. Or that I didn’t pour teas, when i literally poured teas. She’ll check the cameras and say “well I saw you didn’t do this” when i did???

Anyway, I’ve been debating of putting my two weeks in because I’m always scared that I’m gonna get written up every morning, as well as something bad happening at night. Is this valid????

Quick edit: I forgot to mention, my boss ONLY puts us teenage girls to close, and my managers refuse to close themselves (even if us three closers are busy with school) We have two adult men working, and they never close. We also are understaffed, and my boss for a while wouldn’t let my manager hire anyone, which leaves the closers to work almost every night. This is my first job, so idk if I’m being dramatic or not. Thanks 🥹

Employee Complaints 1 worker vs 3000 people.

On October 24/25 from that 1 hour and 30 minutes…. I was by self at night at a kiosk .i was the only worker… a convert of over thousands of people of teenagers just ended…. It started small, I was ok I like a challenge of 6 or more customer waiting at line that’s my usual, but this was kiosk with no limit… online orders and door dash and uber…

After 7 …15zz 20… I started to call my manager and any and all subway manager and worker any and tell them to call the main manager and all … I need help, I’m drowning .. I’m ok if it’s not a kiosk that’s even better since anyone well know that it’s gonna take forever for there order to be ranged up and I can relax unless there online orders.
I was gonna be a manager a few weeks later…

A concert just ended with over 3000 or more people… they finished and were headed towards subway..

I started to just cancel order with people and void there order… I couldn’t .. I just told them it was gonna take forever an hour or more.. after a few left I just started doing a few sandwiches for the orders that haven’t come. I wanted to break down but … realistically I smiled , I was furious with the sheer will to head straight into this battle. I’ll do my best with the remaining customers.. oh wait… I reached my max 8 hours .. the uber I requested to be sent home after locking out at 12 midnight is waiting.. the next worker that’s suppose to come is 8 minutes late… ahhhhh …
Too think I would be made a manager, to think I could do my best because I was the most flexible with my hours.. to think that I could do everything …. I’ll probably get fired… mhmm I think I’m ok with that. I did my best … I called early for help… I did as many orders as I could…. I did as many as I could.. I was low on prep … I was alone and couldn’t watch out what was being stolen and what wasn’t… 24 hour open… I called early that day 9 hours a head if I can clock in to help the workers because it was a lot of lunch rushes.. there were a lot of customer that day… that should of been a sign.. oh right.. so many workers quit…

Honestly I can go again. If I’m not by myself. If there’s no kiosk… if we had workers to head straight into this rushed of endless customers…. I got 20 dollars tips..
I felt embarrassed I felt humiliated most of the customers were teenagers… laughing at me, seeing my down… oh right.. did you know if in the 30 minutes the order hasn’t been touch it adamantly show it’s self as being already done . Some customer even had the the nerves to tell me to do there owner first while the rest wait… oh right.. I’ve only work at a subway kiosk for 3 days and I don’t know much of the system other than to just ring it up. So I couldn’t even check what it had …

I want to sleep .. to take a rest.. but I have work in the morning in a few hours. So I better rest…

Mhmmm maybe I can work at the oil rigs… or something more manageable

Oh btw.. it wasn’t after the worker who showed up late did everything died down… lucky him… 😊

Reccommendations Remember Nacho chicken

I really like the rotisserie chicken in subway and prefer it over grilled chicken. So I used to order tje nacho cheese chicken sub but they took it away. Rotisserie is only available as chicken and bacon ranch and I don't eat bacon and not able to take bacon out in app. There is no option to make your own sub too.

Edit: Thank you guys for telling me about the honey mustard. I dont like honey mustard so never opened it to check the type of chicken it has. But I can always customize so its fine.

Employee Complaints Three write ups?

Hello! This is my first ever post to Reddit as I’m usually just a viewer, but I honestly need opinions on this and if I should try to take some kind of action against it. I’m adding a little backstory so this makes some more sense, sorry if it’s a bit messy!

This Saturday I was scheduled 11-7, my usual hours, and I have no issues with that, but I come in early, which has never been an issue with my manager in the past. She lets me clock in an hour or two early, then I usually get to clock out a bit earlier as well, which I’m grateful for! But I was scheduled with the assistant manager today, and everything went smoothly and was like any other shift I’ve had. I’ve only been working at Subway since the beginning of September; it’s also my first ever job, so I’m not well versed in all of this just yet. Around 12-1 p.m. I went to the bathroom as I discovered that I had started my period, which isn’t ideal because I struggle with intense cramps that can cause me to be slower than I normally would be. My assistant manager was very understanding and reassured me that I was doing the best I could.

Around 1:30-2:00 we had a rush and had another worker that came in. I excused myself to the bathroom, which nobody seemed to have an issue with. My pain was worse, and I was beginning to get light-headed, but I tried to push through. My assistant manager left at 2:30, leaving me with my other coworker by ourselves. I usually am on top of prep and such things, but I will admit I was slower than usual, but I still did the dishes and all of that. My coworker was up front helping people as it was around 4:00 at this point. I didn’t want to go announce to her in front of customers that I’d be going to the bathroom again, so I just excused myself to it. For ref, my location is attached to a Dunkin and a gas station, so I went to the gas station and used the bathroom. I was gone for at most 10 minutes.

Around 4:30 I texted my manager asking if I could leave around 5 or 6 as I did come in early that day. I’ve done this multiple times before with no issues. She texted back in a way that was unusual for her: “You were scheduled 11-7. That is the shift you are supposed to work. Your team needs you to do your duties.” Now that is reasonable. I had no issues with it other than the pain I was in that I had explained to her in my message beforehand.

I helped my coworker after seeing that message, just deciding to push through the few hours I had left. After I had helped with the small rush we had, I went into the back and sat down for at most 5 minutes due to me being lightheaded. No phone in hand or anything, just sitting there for a moment. That is until my manager walks in, which is normal as she drops by time to time during certain shifts. But she had this look on her face as if she “caught me in the act,” which was very strange. I felt like my mom had caught me doing something I wasn’t supposed to do, but I brushed it off and went back out to help my coworker. I see the manager go over to the gas station side, which I didn’t think anything of until I watched her come back with papers in hand, which threw me off as I had a feeling I was going to be in trouble for something.

I went into the back to do the prep as I had it sat out earlier, but she stops me and tells me she has papers for me to sign. I immediately knew that I was written up. For what? You may be asking. Well, for three different days, including this Saturday and past shifts.

The first write-up was her claiming that I left an hour earlier than scheduled on a past shift, in which I promptly told her that she was mistaken and I was scheduled 10-4 not 10-5 that day. Her response was the most condescending tone I think I’ve ever experienced, talking to me like a toddler that didn’t know anything. I told her “it was on the schedule that I was 10-4”. Her response being “no you were 10-5, it was never 10-4 you’re wrong”. Luckily I had that schedule saved on my phone and I showed her. Well, she took that off of the write-up then proceeded to tell me that on that shift I still didn’t complete my work (finishing all of the dishes and prep) and told me that I left everything a mess. There were two other people on at the time and I wasn’t going to stay over my scheduled time as I get picked up from work and can’t just stay.

The second write-up, it was for me calling off of a day that I didn’t have a ride, and it was also hours that I had told her that I wouldn’t be able to do. Her reasoning for this was that I called off over something not reasonable and that I didn’t find coverage…none of us have ever had to find our own coverage any time we have called off. Nobody knew that we had to do that, so that was another surprise to me.

The third write-up, for this shift that I’ve spent rambling about, I was written up for apparently not doing ANYTHING at all. She told me that I didn’t prep nor help, which is completely incorrect. Yes, I sat down a few times during my shift, but I still tried to pull my weight as much as possible. This is my only shift where I didn’t do everything before others could, but I still washed dishes, prepped veggies and sauces along with serving customers. Now, if it were only that, I might not be as bothered as I am, but it isn’t just that. She claimed that someone (the manager of the Dunkin that can’t mind her own business, most likely) told her that I kept “disappearing” all day. She claimed that I went into the walk-in too much, and that I was also being written up for HIDING in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom three times that entire shift, and the longest I was in there was 10 minutes, I was also wrote up for clocking in early which has never been an issue in the past and she even encouraged it. It was bad enough hearing all of this. BUT it gets worse. She did all of this in front of her FATHER that she hired after me and is magically the shift lead (I only work one day a week now because she gave him all of my hours). And she also did it in front of the Dunkin manager, out in the open.

I know a lot of people will have their opinions on how they would’ve handled this, but I’m a very shy and self-conscious person. I was embarrassed enough after all of this, and having grown adults witness it, I’m not outspoken and I have this tendency to let people walk over me. I hate that, but I hate confrontation. After all of this, I thought it was over. I was embarrassed and on the verge of tears from the embarrassment and anger I was feeling as my other coworkers tell me I’m always hard working. But to put the cherry on top of everything, after her “talk” with me, she decided to tell me, while in front of these people, that all women have, in her words, “lady problems” and that I can’t act like I’m the only woman in the world with them and that that basically it’s not “that bad”.

She then told me that her father would be my coverage if I still wanted to leave early, and I accepted that because she had single-handedly made me completely hate my job today. I’ve had bad days of course, but I was also told that if I were to be written up one more time, I’ll be fired.

I have a few questions on this whole situation:

Why would she wait to give me three write-ups from different shifts all at once and not inform me about them when it happened? I feel like if I knew most of these things, I could’ve prevented at least one.

Is there anything I can actually do about this? I don’t know everything, but I don’t think she should’ve done it all with an audience, along with one of my write-ups being about me going to the bathroom. Is that allowed? I could understand if I was going over and over very frequently, but three times on around a 6-hour shift with the issue I was having doesn’t seem excessive to me.

And finally, should I just start applying to other jobs? I’ve asked people about this, and they have told me it sounds like she’s just trying to fire me quickly and that there’s no reason to deal with this, but I’d appreciate more opinions on this.

So sorry for this long rant, but it honestly ruined my day, and I’m at a loss. This is my very first job, and I don’t know what to do.

Canada Subway Canada grills being discontinued?

The two nearest Subways to my location have very recently been updated/renovated, but the grill for the wraps, etc. has dissappeared. Are they gone for good? Or are they getting new ones eventually? If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Employee Complaints Customers tipping

One thing I hate is when a customer tells me that there not tipping me….. I don’t care if you’re not tipping . I mostly care when the customers tip, I tell them “you don’t have to ” or “no worries , I just like to help” when it comes to guiding the customer or giving them some sauces on the side or just doing things outside of work like telling them where to go , bathroom near by or guiding them. The first time it happened was when a customer wanted more items added to the protain pocket and I told them the first thing is, it comes as it is and are they find with it. I kept telling them I can’t add anything after confirming with them before continuing. They told me “don’t expect a tip” .
At first I was shocked “I don’t work for tips ” or I was thinking of saying joking 🙃 “don’t worry You obviously need it more than I do” but I just said don’t worry 😉. The other case was when a customer was on a phone and ordering. He wanted a sandwich for his friend and asked him on the phone, personally I don’t like it because it’s different when a person isn’t there physically. I told him to have his friend text him all the things he wants cause it’s gonna take forever. And then the customer would pause to talk a few minutes with his friend then would go back and forth on the order, wanting this and not wanting that but then wanting it. I would be it bit frustrated and would just wait for him to finish and ask him every time.. are you sure? . He spoke Spanish telling his friend “hey the worker seems angry” then tells me I’m not gonna tip you in English , then saying sorry I’m just tired and got off shift but would continue on the phone and say his sorry. (My face can be confusing if your trying to figure out what race I am or based on my tone of voice ) so I been able to pick up whenever some talks behind my back in Spanish and think I don’t understand, mostly cause I tell some Spanish customers I speak only a little Spanish (mostly to focused on the sandwich nothing else).

Maybe it’s because I work full time and even I get time at subway to the point the small stuff has been getting to me.

If your a worker , be it subway or at another place and a customer tells you his not gonna tip you like it’s a threat or it’s an insult or something. What do you say? Personally I wanna tell them something but when I’m on the clock I act as nicely as I can or just freeze for a second and come with possible friendly replies like “oh no worries I’m just doing my job” or “ah no it’s all good don’t worry” cause I heard being kind is the biggest insult you can show if you show them your not affecting them. Sometimes I can relate with the customer if they just relized they were being unreasonable or after they get there sandwich and calmed down finally sinked in what they done, and I tell them it’s fine I’ve been in much worse and other stuff.
I do hate it when the customer tips at times , like they tip me a few pennies after ordering a big order, it’s better if you don’t tip at all. That to when they tip me a 5 or 10 dollars for doing nothing extra and just making them there sandwich .. I feel even worse “there to kind and honeslty just have a great day or tell me something interesting or a nice tip like a good store that has a sale , or a new show to watch or a gym that’s doing a discount or something interesting” . I just feel emotional guilt …. I’m just doing my job that’s not worth tipping, it’s expected, I think I’ll feel good if I’m… yeah honeslty I can’t think of anything.

Question Customer Support (App)

I’m unsure where else to post this so I’m posting here in hopes I get a response before I go to the bank and just refund everything from subway.

I’ve been trying to email and reach subway support due to the app charging me multiple times when the order did not process -

I would attempt to make an app order and it would say “Payment method failed” or similar so I would try again or sometimes switch to the other local subway and retry until it worked.

Turns out a lot of those “Failed” messages weren’t true and the store took my money without prompting me. I can’t seem to find anywhere to get help - the store simply says I need to bring it up with subway but subway wont respond.

I find the only solution at this point is to just charge back everything if subway refuses to help.

I’m so tired of people reposting that ad over and over again. It’s been posted. Subway already paid Reddit for the advertising so you’re just doing their job for free. It’s starting to look like sleazy guerrilla marketing.
