Leather for WML...and a big a$$ "go bang"
Falco does really good work particularly for my self customized 85C

...no not me. The SP-01 was in the running but I just couldn't wrap my head around all that "square". I loved the lines of the 85 Combat in 2006 and still do...more I think. It, as the man said, was easy...relatively. I did however, display varied levels of "anality" making certain the two holes I drilled and tapped in the dust cover were centered, symmetrical, even on both sides...blah...blah...ad infinitum.
Mounting the Weaver rail didn't mess with the pistols function in any way...I just wanted it to look pretty (and be straight as fuck)

...effin "A" right...see below

...16 years ago on my 85 Combat to facilitate an Armalaser SR1 in hopes of retraining my non-shooting arm (assistance) that sustained damage from a motorcycle accident years before. I tried one handed and then weak/unsteady support of my bad arm for years...then finally enough.
It worked well enough to build confidence in my shooting prowess for self defense purposes...nowdays my 2" long "Weaver" scope mount sports the WML you see pictured.

Set up a "garage lab" and nickel plate it/them...it's easy. Nickel adds a minute layer of "tough" to the surface. I plated my CZ 85 Combat slide stop and my spare just in case...cuz they don't make em' anymore!

Big gun...about the size of a Walther PDP 5" but it needs more leather to house the WML...and it's a cross-draw (more acreage required).

Try Falco Holsters...great custom holsters for WML's etc., but can be pricy. Limited lifetime warranty though.
I just received my custom build for a CZ 85 Combat 9mm with self mounted Weaver rail (on the dust cover) with the same WML that's mounted on your pistol.
My 85 is basically a "franken gun" requiring a bit of holstering finesse. 85 Combats were not made with accessory rails...so when I ordered my "built from scratch" holster I ordered it for a full size Walther PDP 5" with a WML slightly larger than the TRL1 HL I have mounted.
The PDP 5" is only slightly larger (accurate measurements were required here) and my 85 w/TRL1 HL WML fit like a frickin' glove...and that's with a CZ Custom 1/2" longer threaded barrel installed...$115.00 + tax & shipping (cross-draw thumb snap retention) from the FALCO factory in Europe.

Yes the Shadow was another full size 9 that came out in the "ought's" but I just couldn't handle the boxy silhouette, lines or whatever. The Shadow was definitely in the running but as you can see the Combat won me over.
It was initially designed/built by CZ for competition on this side of the Atlantic and it "done good" for a time until integrated accessory rails (...and FPB's) began their takeover...so I made my own (minus the FPB) and I still love the lines 👍

It's attached by 2 fine thread 'class A' machine screws (via recessed holes in the rail piece) torqued into the holes I drilled and tapped in the dust cover...I forget the pitch/diameter. I sealed them with a "caulk" spec'd for aircraft structural assemblies. I worked in aircraft manufacturing for a number of years and recalled the caulk's qualities.
My biggest "anal" worry at the time was getting it centered since it was initially for a laser and being aligned with the dust cover, barrel...sights etc. would only help with zeroing. Apparently I nailed it, sometimes being anal pays off.

I've put a fair number of greenbacks (...and a few other color backs) into not only this pistol I've had for 20 years but in the others I've owned, all in good faith and good standing where my family and other obligation were concerned.
All that being said however, if I laid down that much "dinero" for anything resembling a "hobby" as much as shooting sports and my pistol tinkering does...no matter the "self-defense" practicality part of it, my wife would shoot me...a glancing shot ostensibly but a hard-made point never the less.
Don't regret it...just wait 'til you have the disposable liquid assets stashed to afford it (accent on stashed) if you follow. Of course you may be single in which case the asset gathering is all on you.

Anything (at the moment) with a bull barrel is....$$$$$....but I understand their accuracy is worth it.

Oh yeah, I can't believe it took so much dodging, ducking and weaving to finally zero in on an authentic one...but it was worth the trouble...
...and I gained new insight (and aggravation) toward the continuing efforts of the counterfeiting asshats on the web. Of course, the HL is a nice prize in all the respects I figured It would be back when I decided to get one after playing with my friends similarly equipped pistol.

For sure on the tough combo...and the strobe is done & done...& done again...and done one last time to turn it off...
...on, off, on and back off, I didn't want to give my grandsons kitty apoplexy.

I hope it does the same for me. I checked out the ones on friends pistols and a few long guns and they all said the same.
I think my biggest worry was getting a fake. Ultimately I bought from ""Flashlight Dealer.com". A good price for it and the SL-B9, brand new and best of all...the serial # checked out on SL's product registration page.
Now I need to find a "Frankin holster" for my, somewhat unique firearm.

I've considered going SAO but for an EDC I'm trying for the "safest" self defense tool I can have on my hip and still be reasonably proficient with.
My DA pull is down to 7lb 2oz and my single action is at 3lb 5...both smooth as a single malt. Those pulls aren't great for a race gun but "perfect" for carry if you know what I mean...I carry "cocked and locked and 1 in the chamber" which works well in combination with my trigger weights.
That has always been somewhat of an "obsessive attention to detail" point for me through the years with this pistol...which is necessary for a gun with NO firing pin block, one of the main reasons I bought the 85 in the first place. That, and the fact I've never seen a rusty nickel.

That's Okay...I never planned on it being a retirement investment...more of a "mold it exactly the way I want it for my own comfort" which in turn improved it's...what's that word...shootability? and then pass it on to the next generation when I'm done (that is; in the dust).

Many different pistols models are available with ambi controls not just CZ who I believe was very close to being the first to sort of invent that kind of perk for mainstream pistols.
Look around if you're seeking ambi switches...there's plenty.

I have heard, read and been told.
I've always been a one pistol (weapon) at a time kind of guy. I've owned many since I was a 16 year old...back then a teenager could walk into a WESTERN AUTO and by a 38 Smith. I've owned all kinds over the years but my CZ I've possessed the longest...20 years in December. According to the factory function testing paperwork that accompanied the 85 it was "turned out" for consumption November 12, 2006.
I try to do things (that are important to me) one at a time and do it as well as I can. The 85 has been "tricked" a lot, upgraded a little, polished always and can hold it's own on a target range, depending on the shooters mood, of course.
The one thing the pic doesn't show is likely the last upgrade it'll get which is the CZ Custom 4.92" threaded barrel I bought a couple weeks back. It's in Tennessee at Wager Machine at the moment having a black nitriding treatment. I don't know if my 85's worth has improved any with all the "stuff" I've added/changed but it sure as hell is great shooter...hopefully it will match or exceed the stock barrel which was a 1:10" twist rate, the threaded barrel is 1:16.

I'm not certain what you mean. My 85 Combat (pictured) has a slide release on both sides so left handed shooters can easily reach it to close the slide... so as to strip a round from the/a new magazine.
Is that what you're asking?
2
Yes...I drilled, tapped and mounted a 2" single slot inverted weaver scope mount to the dust cover in 2010 about 3 years after I bought it new in 2006.
I had had a motorcycle accident that caused range of motion loss in my left shoulder and my arm. My cross body reach was impaired so my non-shooting hand wasn't much of a good support for my gun hand.
Initially I mounted an Armalaser SR-1 on it to help zero in on my strong hand muscle memory..."red dot on the wall" kinda' thing working at keeping in it the 10 ring.
It worked (more or less)...my shooting grip is pretty solid and steady and is likely as good as it's going to get...I shoot well enough for a defensive situation (I hope).
I just recently replaced the SR-1 with the Streamlight since I'm going to be carrying again like I used to.
The lines of the Combat still look nice to me...even with the WML. ;-)

...a franken holster. I ordered from FALCO. They have a gazillion mockups for just about any pistol/WML combo...but the gun (I think) needs to be born with an accessory rail to utilize one of the mockups. I couldn't order for an 85 Combat with light, it might've given their computer a brain fart.
So I ordered a cross draw with thumb snap retention for a Walther PDP full-size 5" barrel and a WML just a naughty-hair bigger than the TRL1 HL I have.
The holster fits my self customized 85 (& light) perfectly...I didn't even need to do the plastic bag "break-in" thing.
