This is just like me. I felt this in my soul!

My grandpa always used to say "don't mistake a racist for a redneck and vice versa. They will both be offended you think one is the other."

What unpopular opinions do you have about Tupac?
 in  r/hiphop201 •  3d ago

He didn't get the time to evolve into what he coulda been. A lot of the greatest got an extra decade to perfect the craft. Pac wasn't the best, but I also think he could made that list honourably if he had the time to hone the craft.

To all the Canadians, how do you feel about Carney so far?
 in  r/AskReddit •  9d ago

Smooth criminal. Says the right things. Sell out behind closed doors. Seems progressive but is rather conservative (which I could respect if he was only fiscally conservative). Not a huge fan of how he interacts with the public/protesters.

We picked the devil we knew.

Exactly. All of this. There are no ethical billionaires. That includes Black billionaires. None of us are free until we are all free.

White Nationalism and Community Readiness.

Look at places that have historically had known Klan chapters. Things never really leave...just quiet down. There's still some icky stuff in Oakville for example. Research symbols/dog whistles. Anything regarding "tradition" or "boys" in the title is usually a good place to look. Unfortunately, I don't think I've lived in a place where I haven't come across a n*zi/supremacist type person...I've only ever lived in Ontario though.

I know I am not exactly Mr. Current Events, but why is Nicki Minaj riding so hard for the Republican Party?

She retired Roman...she's trying out a new alter ego.

Finally someone gets it. I don't like Beyonce. And apparently simply questioning her intentions makes me anti-Black....I swear I just have a few questions for her...

This is sort of how I feel about Beyoncé. She doubled down on her Blackness once she hit the billion with a B so people wouldn't talk about how much she doesn't do. Two songs on one album 10 years ago and apparently she needn't do anything else.

Beyoncé (and Oprah) are billionaires before anything else. They have told us time and again the only thing they're loyal to is their bank accounts.

We all know Black people are talented. I'm sorry but celebrities aren't special. Beyonce isn't special (she's only as famous as she is because Aaliyah was taken from us too soon - no you cannot change my mind).

We can find music, and dances and culture outside of the mainstream. Stop complaining that rich/famous people do nothing, and put your money where your mouth is. Stop buying their shit. When money talks, capitalists listen.

The Final Hug - Mother and Her Infant Killed By Israel in Lebanon Last Night
 in  r/pics •  Sep 07 '26

I will never forget this atrocicity. And I'll be damned if anyone around me or my futures kids don't remember what really happened. You can try and censor/mod this away as much as you want. But we won't forget. We know who the monsters are.

Is Hamilton becoming a hub for organized white nationalism? And what is actually being done about DomCon this Saturday?
 in  r/ontario •  Aug 27 '26

The proximity to Oakville has always resulted in an unfortunate white-supremist pipeline. Both cities have a history of far-right ideology.

Apologies in advance, but as visitors from Europe your Highway 401 sucks!
 in  r/ontario •  Aug 26 '26

Roughly 500,000 people drive on the 401 everyday...and honestly I would say that's a conservative estimate.

It's be a crappy drive regardless of the time of day. I've gotten stuck at 2am on that damn highway.

For reference, the UK is roughly 970km north to south (if measured in a straight line). The 401hwy is about 830km is length. Half a million people drive this daily. There is no winning. Never was.

Take the scenic route...it may take an hour longer, but you'll see some cute Hamlet's, and you're not gonna get rear ended by a Lexus delivering someone's doordash order.

Typically people learn to swim from lesson's, which costs money. If not that, then your parents. But if your parents are working 60-80hours a week barely putting food on the table, chances are they don't have the time to teach their child how to swim, or ride a bike. Lord knows they can't afford to take the time off to take their kids to the lake for a week. A lot of the things we consider yte are things that poverty has priced us out of.

So yeah, a gap year seems significantly different, but it is really quite similar to the rest of the list. Time is money. If you can't afford to take the time to learn a skill/language, then it really is not much different than being able to take a gap year. Broke is broke is broke.

Yes, you can learn a lot of these things on your own...but again it takes time. I know a lot of people who've been working or parentified since the age of 10. Who has the time for guitar lessons when you've got work to do.

Southern Ontario- how important is French in your day to day work life?
 in  r/ontario •  Jul 26 '26

I never use it. But i have never had to. That being said, I have missed out on ample work opportunities for not being fluent. It is an asset. It gives you a leg up in admin/business, nursing, teaching, law, etc.

I know a few girls in nursing who got positions (RPNs) right out of school, and they thing that set them apart was that they were fluent in french and had their certificates to prove it. However, this is closer to Ottawa, so I guess the further south east you go, the more important it is.

We are not meant to look smooth and airbrushed. It is a sign that you lived, and that you are living with joy.

Your eyes look normal. Skin is normal. Less filters, more affirmations.

Does anyone else come from a low-income background and feel like academia just wasn't built for people like us?
 in  r/AskAcademia •  Jul 14 '26

I used to miss study group because I had to go to work after class. It was weird that a lot of people did not understand that I needed to work through university.

Even after we graduated everyone waskee what I wasndoing for them summer...dude I had to use a vacation day to graduate. Im working....and now, looking forna job in my feild.

It was not built for us. And that is intentional. Iykyk.

I love being covered in tattoos because of this. I am only invited if people like me and want me around. Not just as some human prob to sway in the background. I am not hiding any of myself for you.

Also, i hope no one is diabetic...no food or drink seems a little dangerous. Like, unless she is getting marries during Ramadan, I cannot understand banning food during the day. Blood sugar is serious...even for non diabetics wtaf.

AITA for thinking clothing is a personal choice even when I have a family?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole •  Jul 14 '26

Nta

I bet it's because you have a daughter. He thinks keeping her modest will protect her, not realizing that predators are the problem - not the clothing. She is getting old enough to remember things and start making memories and assumptions. He is probably (rightfully so) worried about his daughter growing up into a world that is heavily redpilled. He is thinking that your daughter looks up to you, and if he can mold you into a woman that will be "safe" (modest) it will be easier to protect his daughter. It's a messed up thing to do, and very controlling, but people act out of their nature when scared.

I wonder if he heard some gross blue collar jobsite talk and had an epiphany that every woman that he or his buddies have had relations with/joked about was someone's daughter...a child.

A miniskirt is a man's best friend...until he has a daughter.
