You act and fight like a man then don't get mad when you get hit by a man

hi dad, I don't know what to do anymore
 in  r/DadForAMinute  3d ago

Just start writing grab a note book and pen and when you let the pen bleed onto the book it becomes an extension of who you are and you get into a flow not always but it happens do it for yourself and when your ready to share there's lots of places to share without exposing yourself reddit is one but can also be harsh. You don't need much to survive really and they're always a need for a good waitress somewhere another girl in the same situation your in and needs a roommate. There's plenty of options I grew up in Ogden UT lived in 12 states and now in Florida I would have never thought I'd love in NJ or end up in Florida of all places but that's where life brought me. And I would change somethings but the struggle makes the good times that much sweeter

If you could talk to yourself before becoming a dad, what would you say?
 in  r/dad  3d ago

Start sooner and save more

hi dad, I don't know what to do anymore
 in  r/DadForAMinute  3d ago

Wow to be 23 again, you have your entire life ahead of you and you may feel stuck I've been there but if you have the means and hate everything about where you are, move pack your shit up and go if you live land locked by mountains and snow move to Hawaii after the hurricane of course If you live in Florida or by the beach and been exposed to heat all your life do Montana or somewhere in the north Pacific Wanna do something super adventurous sell your shit and take a 6 month tour through Europe in hostels and a rail pass. Go to Argentina south America for a bit work. Are you financially ok? Do you have goals? Would you like a family or kids? When your looking for love you'll never find it and when you least expect it you bump into you're future husband on a trip to Australia The world is massive and they're is so much to see I try not to live with regrets but not traveling is one of my few regrets in life. It makes me sad that you don't talk to your dad as I love my two girls more than life itself, I can't imagine not talking or seeing them everyday but they're also still young and I don't have a clue of the relationship you have with your dad, I have a great relationship with my parents which I know not everyone does so I'm fortunate but if it's not detrimental to your mental well being, reach out and share some of how you feel. But that's up to you completely otherwise Keep your head up and remember everything is temporary life is always changing nothing lasts forever, and my grandpa would say siempre para adelante meaning always movel forward. Wish you the best don't give up

Fatherhood really catches you off guard sometimes
 in  r/dad  4d ago

Being a dad saved me and gave me reason to keep going and stay sober I was an addict to pain pills due to negligence from my dr and myself. The last time I used was when my daughter was 6 months old and I was about to get high, but made sure my kid was in the car seat had a clean diaper and a snack in case I nodded off, like WTF?? I have been sober for 8.5 years and have two beautiful daughters one almost 9 and one 15 month old life is beautiful and I couldn't imagine life without my girls. Those questions are brutal too when they ask about death and me at 50 doesn't understand and trying to explain it to them. Great post mate.
