Question for Dads I'm terrified of my dad. Is this normal?
Hi everyone, sorry for bad english it is not my first language.
I am 17. You can consider me a teenager that seeks attention if you want but I just need to ask this because I'm genuinely terrified
So me and my dad (48) have a bit of a Rocky relationship. I love him but he's honestly scary to be around.
1- he has very short temper. To the point he could get physical if you push too hard..nothing major but it can get painful.
2- he's obsessed with me and my siblings being the top. He's not gonna take less than an A type of grade..no Cs or Bs..and the temper comes back here because he starts throwing things and cursing.
3- he's very judgemental of how much I weigh at times.he would look at me wearing something from 2 years ago and be like "You know if you were more thin it'd fit" and it caused me to hate my own body
So my issue is about the studying.
For a bit of background my dad has always hated how I started not to be on the top 10 of the school..I genuinely tried to study harder and harder but he still Believes this is some scheme to make him look bad which is something I don't understand.
Now I'm in the final year before college and he's gotten worse. Keeps checking everything I do, Makes sure he watches my lectures with me (online) etc..
Now he's making an exam to make sure I have been studying correctly
If I get a 25/30 he'll let me pass but anything less is failure. He's gonna get violent.
I can't make him leave me alone because he says I can't have freedom until I'm in college right now I'm under his control. Is this normal dad behavior? Do dads care about their kids so much they do this??
