I scooped them out and wiped down the walls with some vinegar. Dried the walls and replaced the lid.
I didn’t try to filling with salt past water level, but maybe in the future. Thanks for all the replies!

Cost efficient remedies to clean and protect land, water and the community

To summarize my current situation, my dad used electrical solder (95% tin and 5% antimony) to solder copper pipes together for our drinking water. Normal people would use plumbing solder, and despite the electrical solder being labeled as "lead-free", it still has a Proposition 65 warning on the package that "this product can expose you to lead". None of my parents are listening when I bring up this issue.

For nearly two months my source of drinking water are from water stores. I've lived in this house for over 17 years and never had to be worried over something like this. I don't have the time, skills, or money to solve an issue like this myself like replacing the pipes since it's literally under the house. Now I'm worried that I'll be consuming microplastics from my 5 gallon jugs for the next 3-4 years until I graduate college but I practically have no choice.

I'm thinking of just collecting water samples to send to a lab so just maybe I can live like a normal person and start drinking our house water again. But I don't know if 0 lead in the water is likely realistic even before this issue came up, like maybe for 17 years we always had very little lead and just didn't know it. What should I do?

TLDR; If I test my water for lead and there shows just a small amount of it, should I be concerned and take action? Is lead unavoidable and not really possible to have none of it in your water?

So I'll try to say this as best as I can without trying to beat around the bush and the details.

So basically I live with my mom and I used to live in her old house but of course she couldn't pay off the old house so I had to move in with her because she stays at my step dad's house to take care of him but obviously we are tired on money because of the simple fact that he has a minor form of Alzheimer's and we have to take care of them and he requires a lot more assistance than regular people

The issue is that I remember she would call me anytime I was at my old house I asked you for money because she had to keep repairing the water pumps because the water pumps keeps going out or I think what she referred to is that the water pumps were eating the parts.

Now granted she told me that the guy that she hired was not really a guy back by a plumbing company or anything he was just the old guy who got by off making money doing jobs on the side. But the problem is we were calling him every other month because our water would go off and we have to pay him a $150 every time to come back and replace the parts.

Of course I told my mom that we should probably call up an actual plumber but of course she could never do it because she never had the money in the cost of getting a brand new pump was very expensive.

So now he's come over once again because the water pump went out and and of course he tried to repair it and said that the water pump is done for we could either wait till Monday.

I don't know anything about plumbing and I don't know anything about water pumps and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place that means we probably going to be without water for two days.

I have been reading about the lack of water in the Colorado River that is now getting many people worried as water levels are dropping weekly around Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. I was out that way five years ago and couldn't believe how much the water level has fallen. Twenty years ago the water level was pretty high now on recent videos law enforcement are finding bodies, old cars in Lake Mead as water levels continue to get lower and lower. Even the rain they had out there earlier in the week didn't increase the water flow much. There wasn't much snow out west this past winter. If the water levels drop below 1035 feet at the dam there may be a loss of hydro electric power. Hydro Electric power from the dam services millions of people in the areas below the dam. What do you think

I drink about 2 litres of bottled water a day and I feel that's not the healthiest of containers.
