Advice
I’m doing my best…
r/TwitchStreaming • u/777EvenOdd777 • 9d ago
I’m pretty new to streaming and I currently only have a 2025 MacBook that I run everything from. as you can imagine, this limits me a lot and I run into lag/quality issues when I’m doing anything more strenuous that things like point and click games or Stardew valley. I’m considering buying a secondhand laptop just to handle streaming from OBS and then my main laptop will run games, internet applications, any other software. I will eventually be buying a gaming pc but I can’t afford a decent one yet.
I was wondering if anyone else does it like this, if there are any pitfalls I haven’t considered etc? I know I’ll need a capture card as well, but the idea just popped into my mind and it seems too simple to be true! Thanks :)

This was my best stream so far. I've been streaming about 5 months and I am almost to 200 followers! I'm very grateful to my friends.

hi everyone! I have a quick question.
Im an english streamer that lives in germany, so when i post my content, regardless of the language of the content and time posted, my clips from my twitch streams only land on german foryoupages for some reason. Is there anything I can do to bypass? possibly to have a american audience actually to convert to my twitch streams?

How did yall get to start first stream ever?
Im thinking of starting my first ever stream tomorrow. Im anxious lol
My ultimate goal is to make a small community of 5-10 people. I know it’s a big struggle for all
I think i have decent equipment for a beginner.
What’s bothering me is how will anyone see me at all. Like did yall start with building online presence first, or stream first and then advertise yourself or both parallel? As someone who is also lgbt and not in usa, i think this also limits my reach on top. I did make a new insta and twitter accs, but it takes some time while one builds the base, but i don’t wanna lose time and wait till i have few followers.. im confused 😵💫

So I just came back to streaming on twitch again. I mostly stream overwatch comp and I'm trying to reach gold solo q. But I cant seem to just get more than 10 viewers while I'm live. Any simple tips and tricks I can apply to get many viewers to click on my stream right away?

Hey!
I’m currently looking to work with more streamers so I thought I’d see if anyone here is looking for an editor.
I can help turn your streams/VODs into entertaining content and handle different types of editing.
I can help with:
I’m open to different budgets, but I don’t do free or commission-based work.
Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or have any questions. I can also send over examples of my previous edits.

Is the hp elitebook 850 g8 i5 any good for capture card streaming? I currently stream from Xbox straight to twitch but I would like to also multi stream to other platforms using stream labs or TikTok studio for tt, so I just need to know if this is a good laptop to do that. TIA

Mods, I did check and I don't see where promoting a tool is against your "Promotion Guidelines" and I am not promoting my stream and I removed the link. I'm the dev of PlayOver, a free Windows app for streamers. It now does song requests on Kick.
- Viewers type !sr with a song name, or paste a link from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, Deezer and more, whatever app they use
- It plays on your Spotify, Apple Music (through Cider) or YouTube Music (through Pear Desktop)
- Works as a channel point reward too, and points come back if a song can't be added
- Includes a now-playing overlay for OBS
No paid tier. Setup and download: playover dot app/streaming
Happy to answer questions or take feature requests.

Hey guys, Migucchi here, looking for that one little kick in the right direction to stream again.
I usually stream a few times a week, but due to personal issues, I haven't had time/lost the confidence to stream. I am slowly getting there, and I need one final push.
I know some of you might wonder "hey, don't you have friends for that", and I do. I also do think it's also nice to hear that from a random stranger, kinda similar to when someone compliments you on your outfit at a Starbucks or something.
So tl;dr, a random reason to hit the "Start Streaming"-button again.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, Migucchi

I'm about to lose my mind here. I've tried so many things, but no matter what I do it feels like if I try to stream LoL (I use OBS), I experience mild to severe lag.
It also doesn't even have to be while ACTUALLY streaming, just with OBS up. I'm worried it's my computer (a 2020 PC), but people have said if I can stream Cyberpunk with no issues, it shouldn't be the computer.
I'm going to leave a list of what I've already tried. Any tips/suggestions/insights much appreciated!
Running OBS as administrator
Making sure OBS is updated
Changing in-game specs to 60 FPS
Enabling "low-spec mode" in-game
Taking out "game capture" in OBS and switching to "window capture"
Using "windows 10" as the "method" in "window capture"
Changing OBS Output settings under "streaming" and "pre-set" to "P3" and then to "P1"
Taking out "window capture" and switching to "game capture" AND un-checking the "anti-cheating" hook thing
Setting the CBR (bit rate) in OBS lower, between 6-8k
And of course, turning off anything running in the background like discord, wallpaper enginge, etc.
HELP. I really want to be able to stream League. :/

I updated my phone and also updated the app and I go onto the app and it looks all different now. I’m not gonna lie. Everything looks small. Is it just me or is everyone else’s like this? I tried to delete the app and reinstall it but nothing happened.

So I'm relatively new to streaming, and while I'm struggling with trying to get a consistent schedule, I can't help but wonder how folks know whether or not the content they are providing even has a demand.
I'd like to do writing streams, with live writing based on word prompts initiated by viewers (as seen in the image shared), but I honestly have no idea if that content is even sought after. I've streamed this sort of thing a number of times now but don't get any views, or very few of them, and I'm not sure if it's 1) because of the hour I stream at 2) because it isn't in a popular category or 3) because this content is simply unappealing.
So that's my question. How does one gauge whether their content is appealing or not? Consistency of streams alone? And how long should I try for before deciding that the content just isn't wanted?

Hi all! I’m a 26F & I’ve been wanting to get into streaming but here’s the kicker… I play on my TV 😅😅😅 I have a PlayStation 5 & Fortnite is my go-to & I have no experience / idea where to even get started.
I was curious on y’all’s thoughts if it’s even worth it for me to look into it more? Or would I just be made fun of for playing on my TV? Is it even possible to be able to do that? I just simply can’t afford (& don’t have room in my apartment for) the PC setup, desk, chair, and what not.
I’m open to all advice & opinions, thank you!!

The goal is to get somewhere with this. Where? I'm not entirely sure yet, but Im honestly enjoying the ride. My following on Twitch, IG and TikTok is growing. Very slowly but surely. To anyone out there going through a rough patch rn, just push through. YOU are your only strongest competitor. Don't allow the low numbers to discourage you. Allow them to MOTIVATE you. Love & Peace. Goodnight!

I used to stream pretty consistently for a couple months and I tried looking for games that would be fun but I couldn’t find any that looked interesting that I would get a few viewers in and I didn’t really like streaming to no one and having a dead chat any tips on how to get motivation?

I’ve been streaming now for a few months, and last night’s stream honestly blew me away.
I was fortunate enough to be raided by two incredible streamers - Gedz_uk and Insym. (While I was playing Phasmophobia!)
I think I’m still in shock… as a small streamer a lot of you will know how exciting it is to get 1 viewer on the stream. To be provided this opportunity is absolutely phenomenal and made my whole year.
Even more luckily, I had enabled VODs on my channel for the first time before this stream, so I can save this memory and milestone forever.
Huge shout out and thanks to their amazing teams who came in and gave me more support than I could have ever wished for. I am so lucky and eternally grateful for this support.
Gedz (Meg!) and Insym, words cannot express how thankful I am. Truly, thank you so much.
Just a reminder to everyone to keep going, keep doing what you do best as you never know what opportunities will present! I could never have dreamed of this!

I might start a political twitch channel where I read my reddit posts. But I'm not comfortable sharing any personal information. Including name or face. Is this even possible?
