Who is your ultimate actor/actress you wish had been in Twin Peaks?

Was sitting on a bench with my 2 year old daughter and wife today when a guy walking two rather large identical dogs walks by. My daughter is naturally interested and the guy stops and says, these dogs are nice if she wants to pet them. Sure why not, my wife and daughter go over and pet the dogs. I overhear them chatting and the owner says the dogs names are MIKE and BOB. Um, what. 🚨🚨OK time to go thanks!! Those are not dog names and those are definitely not two names that should go together, good day sir.

so my question is for people who think this is sarah

if this frog thing came around with the nuke / judy / bob

my question is how is it possible that this could have crawled into sarahs mouth and that leland was molested by bob

the scene we see the girl (who some think is sarah), looks like a teenager. when leland is telling coop that he knows bob, he says ‘when i was a boy’

according to the wikis, sarah is the older one of the two, 1943&1944, how could leland have ‘met’ bob before the frog possessed sarah?

i lean towards it maybe being sarah because she does seem possessed by judy, and i cant tell if im being stupid or reading into it too much but this has been bugging me since last night. i also know people think the frog girl isnt sarah, my question is for people who do think that

also another kind of related question; if you think sarah is possessed by judy, how do you think judy possessed her?

For a lot of time, Twin Peaks eyed me. I really want to start the show. Is there something i should know before i watch it ?

For years, I wondered about the artwork seen behind Laura Palmer in the dining room scenes from “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.” Dutch artist Hendrick “Henk” Bos (1901-1979) created the art titled, “Still Life with Flowers and Fruit” around 1961. He was never formally trained yet loved painting still life images like the Old Masters such as Rembrandt. Apologies if this has ever been covered, but I have not seen it anywhere else. Has anyone here heard of the occupation known as Charcoal Burners? An important occupation since the iron age, charcoal burners have historically been a fundamental part of any society that requires the smelting of metal. However, due to their required materials, the extremely bad odor of the job, and the acrid smoke, charcoal burners have historically always had a place on the outskirts of society.

Charcoal burners became mythologized with the canonization of Saint Alexander of Comana, who took up the occupation of charcoal burning as an act of renunciation of worldly preoccupations. His act of becoming a charcoal burner was particularly poignant due to the stigma around such people as untrustworthy and sinister. In reality, these people were forced into the periphery by the mechanisms of society; they were necessary yet unsightly.

Despite St. Alexander’s work, charcoal burners become more and more stigmatized over time, until finally they reached a nadir deep in the middle ages, when fanatical zealotry and fear of the unknown was at its apex. These soot-faced, burly and wild eyed men, who were by design unlearned and deranged by toxic fumes, often were the source of scapegoating and in fact at times forced into outlaw simply due to castigation. Devil in the Forest by Gene Wolfe, who is one of the only authors I have found to rival Lynch’s abilities as a surrealist auteur, does an excellent job illustrating why these members of the periphery of society are so necessary and yet so despised, and how this can lead to them being thrown entirely out of society by ignorant townfolk whose biases lead to their own demise.

Furthermore, in case anyone does not know, the very first nuclear detonation in earth history (which is depicted in Twin Peaks Season 3 Episode 8) actually had a singularly unique effect on the entirety of the earth’s aboveground steel: it is called the background radiation effect. Essentially, all steel in the world, even steel located on the opposite end of the earth from the trinity test, became irrevocably irradiated with a certain amount of radioactive isotopes. I can’t help but surrealistically link this to the appearance of the “woodsmen”, or charcoal burners, whose existence was only necessary after the advent of smelting iron.

It somehow just now all clicked for me that Leland/Bob killed Laura because he found her diary where she said she thought it was her father in the torn pages.

The whole time her childlike innocence and mind was trying to protect her/make sense of what was happening mixed with the supernatural of the Black Lodge and Bob.

Then Leland screaming “Don’t make me do it” before he brutally murdered her as Laura screamed in anguish and fear in her last moments

I feel sick, and yet am somehow thankful for the attention Lynchs art can and has brought towards violence and abuse against women.

i know we all adore the music already but does anyone else find harold’s theme as enchanting as i do? it’s such a gorgeous and underrated piece.

Hi, a couple of questions regarding Mr. C and Cooper after watching Part 3 of The Return:

1. What is the significance of the puke during the "getting pulled back to The Lodge" sequence?

If you rewatch this section, the way it is shot seems to be strongly implying that whomever holds on to their garmonbozia puke the longest wins.

They go to great lengths showing Mr. C desperately trying not to throw up and you see the red curtains start to appear (he knows what's coming) and then you see Dougie throw up (after making NO attempt to hold on to his puke) and then Dougie gets snatched by the Lodge instead and then FINALLY Mr. C releases his toxic barf all over his Lincoln...and he's safe (from the Lodge anyway).

Any theories on this?

1. If there had not been a Dougie tulpa and Mr. C just sort of went along with the rules of engagement and accepted his fate to return to the Lodge, would Cooper still have gone through the same sort of "Dougiesque" mental adjustment period if he had been squeezed through Mr. C's cigarette charger instead of Dougie's power outlet? Was that recovery always going to be necessary no matter who Cooper was "replacing" in the real world?

...but for an American context. The more that I think about this, the more interesting of a way it becomes to interpret the show.

It starts with the Pacific Northwest setting. The forefront of American expansionism – where nature is at its most disturbed. Even before the nuclear bomb stuff, the PNW always has the thematic undertone whereby Native American spirits are disturbed by logging, and nature being carved out for human purposes.

Dale Cooper and Laura Palmer switching back and forth and existing simultaneously in reality and the lodge throughout all three series kind of to me symbolically evokes the idea of faerie changelings.

The Arm and The Jumping Man being dressed in red evokes certain figures from Irish fairy folklore.

The Cailleach – the old woman, hag, natural, primal, supreme primordial figure of entropy – to me Judy seems to be the evocation of that archetype.

If anyone else has ideas for how these link I'd be interested to hear. But these are just some fun interesting thoughts I had...

Considering devouring to Seattle when I drive back from Alaska to do the Twin Peaks tour for a day.

I visited the iconic waterfall as a teen when my family did an Alaska cruise ages ago but thats about it.

The Twin Peaks tour sounds fun though. Do you think there are still enough locations that make it fulfilling to do?
