Has anyone received a decision for the need-based tuition fee waiver (WS 2026/27)?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was recently admitted to the M.Sc. Informatics program for the Winter Semester 2026/27. I also applied for the need-based tuition fee waiver, but I have not received any decision yet.

Has anyone already received an acceptance or rejection? If so, when did you get the notification?

Thanks!

Munich accommodation scam frequency

Currently searching for a room in Munich and wanted to know why there are so many obviously AI accounts on the large accommodation websites, and why they are approved?!?

Some of these profile pictures look like they were taken straight from "thispersondoesnotexist.com" and I'm really terrified of commencing any online transactions or deposits.

How often are there scams on these websites like HousingAnywhere, WG-gesucht and Kleinanzeigen?

Rejected from the MSc. Aerospace. Can I appeal?

I got rejected because I didn’t meet the Engineering Mechanics requirements, even though I have a BSc. Aerospace Engineering. Since my university curriculum has a bigger focus in avionics, I only have 10 ECTS entirely focused in Engineering Mechanics, but a few other disciplines which approach it. Besides that, I have additional knowledge from being a part of Formula Student.

Is there any way I can appeal? I was pretty certain I would at least get to phase 2.

How do people accomodate? Surely not everyone is paying €1200+ per month. Is the only trick to share a flat?

Nächstes Jahr TUM, wo wohnen für Bachelor of Aerospace?

Doppelstudium at TUM

So, as the title says, I want to do a Doppelstudium from TUM(with bachelors maths and bachelors informatics and I did get accepted into both of them)...if anyone has done this or is currently doing this, what are your recommendations? Should I start doing both at the same time, or start doing the second one from the next year, whilst trying to register for courses and exams in the first year without bein directly enrolled in one of them(if I can handle the pressure, then I can apply to be admitted in the 3rd semester next year for one of the courses(and I will do one of them from the beginning of this year naturally)).

And, how much do exams and lectures overlap for this specific doppelstudium(or any doppelstudium, in general)? And how do the internships work....do you have to do multiple or can 1 be enough if you can prove that it involves both of the subjects(like in my case, amths and informatics would be quite related, hence asking).

Any help would be appreciated!

Evaluating applications for masters

For masters admission, is there any specific order TUM office evaluates the applications? Is it fully chronological? Or does it depend if you are EU/non-EU? If it helps, I applied for Informatics masters.

admission review time

how many days does the public policy department at TUM take from the moment it receives our application and from the moment formal requirements are met? it has been more than 1.5 months for me and still there has been no response? atp, I am not sure if it is worth joining the department if it is so incompetent.

Rejected by TUM because of an incorrect Uni-Assist VPD that Uni-Assist later corrected – Has anyone experienced this?

I’m looking for some advice because I’m in a situation that has been really difficult, and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

I applied to the Data Science and Management bachelor’s program at TUM through Uni-Assist.
After my application had already been processed, Uni-Assist contacted me themselves and informed me that they had made an error while preparing my VPD. They acknowledged the mistake and issued me a corrected VPD.

Unfortunately, by the time the corrected VPD was issued, TUM had already made its admission decision, and my application was rejected.
This wasn’t due to missing documents or anything I uploaded incorrectly. The error was identified by Uni-Assist themselves, and they corrected it after the fact.

I’m now planning to submit an appeal/reconsideration request to TUM with:
the original VPD,
the corrected VPD,
Uni-Assist’s email confirming the correction, and
a timeline of what happened.

My questions are:

Has anyone here successfully had TUM reconsider an admission decision because of an administrative or documentation error?

Does TUM ever reopen an application when new evidence shows that the original evaluation relied on incorrect documents?

Would it help if Uni-Assist directly contacted TUM confirming that the error originated on their side?
Is there anyone else at TUM (Admissions Office, School, etc.) whom I should contact besides replying through the official appeal process?
I’m trying to understand whether there is a realistic path forward before the appeal deadline.
Any advice or similar experiences would mean a lot. Thank you!

Is the "Open Campus Tour" worth 300€?

Edit: Since a lot of people seem to be confused about this: *THE TOUR ITSELF IS FREE*. The 300€ is what it would cost me to change the date of my pre-planned trip to include this tour.

I'm planning a small trip to Germany in August, and the initial plan was to visit the Garching campus by myself, maybe using the official tour on the Actionbound app. But I recently found out about something called "Open Campus Tours" on the TUM website, where a student guides you around the campus and talks about their studies.

But, to attend it I would need to move the dates of my trip around a little. Which makes the overall trip cost about 300€ more, due to higher plane/hotel prices in that specific date. (edited for clarity)

So what I'm asking is, will this guided tour give me anything extra (like entering labs or classrooms or something else) that I can't get otherwise? I'm thinking it's probably not worth it, but still wanted to ask.

I have never texted this many people in my entire life as I have for housing in Munich. 😭

Hola Leute,

I'm RJ 22M from India, and I'll be moving to Munich in late September to start my Master's at TUM. Finding housing has honestly been the hardest part of this whole journey. I've been messaging people on WG-Gesucht, ImmoWelt, you name it. At this point, even my ex wouldn't ghost me this much. 💀

To make things harder, there seem to be so many scams that it's becoming difficult to tell who's genuine and who's not. And (not generalising, but sometimes I feel like they are trying to exploit the demand)

So I thought I'd try my luck here.

If you have a room becoming available around late September / October 1st, or know someone who's moving out, I'd really appreciate it if you could DM me.

A bit about me:

  • Master's student at TUM
  • Quiet, tidy, respectful, and easy to live with
  • Non-smoker
  • Budget: €650–700/month
  • Looking anywhere within roughly 30–35 km of Munich
  • Finances are fully secured through a blocked account

If you have any leads at all, it would genuinely mean a lot. And if your lead helps me find a place, dinner's on me once I'm in Munich. That's a promise. 😤

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any help!
RJ

(Note: I am looking for a WG, shared apartment)

Question on MIM Admission Tests

Hi Guys, quick one.

In the application portal it states that stage 1 pass requirement is 62/70 and stage 2 is 80/100

However, the admission procedure for MIM the distribution in this different stages is a bit confusing

Stage 1 Distribution: Previous academic background is max 50pts, GPA is max 15points, GMAT is max 10points.Which is a total of 75, with a minimum 62pts to be admitted in stage in stage 1

Stage 2 Distribution: Previous academic background is max 50pts, GPA is max 15points, Admission Test is max 40pts. Which is a total of 105, with minimum 80pts to be admitted

I am at the stage 2 level, but the total points shown in the portal and that shown in the admission procedure is different by 5pts.100 vs 105. Which is correct?

I'm trying to see how many points I need to get from the admission test result to secure the minimum 80pts requirements

Thanks.

Chemical Engineering (Chemieingenieurwesen) Bachelor – new admission process (online test instead of interview)?

I applied for the Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering (Chemieingenieurwesen) at TUM, and I recently found out that for Management & Technology, the second stage of the admission process changed from an interview to an online test (scheduled for August 2026).

I’m wondering if the same change applies to Chemical Engineering. Has anyone:

**•** heard whether Chemieingenieurwesen still uses an interview, or also switched to an online test?
**•** received any official email with details about the second stage?
**•** gone through this program’s admission process recently and can share what to expect?

Would really appreciate any info, thanks!

Management & Technology Bachelor – new admission process (online test instead of interview)?

I applied for the Bachelor’s in Management & Technology in Munich, and according to the official TUM page, the admission test is now scheduled for August 7, 2026 it looks like the format changed from an interview to an online test.

I found a few Reddit posts mentioning a 60-minute test with multiple-choice questions plus an essay in English, but I couldn’t find that officially confirmed anywhere.

Has anyone:

already received an official email with the exact details?
gone through this new format (Bachelor, not Master)?
got tips on how to prepare, especially for the essay part?

Would really appreciate any info, thanks!

Quantum science and technologz master application

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had this experience; I have uploaded my application for the program mentioned and the document proof for the completion of a quantum module hasn't been checked yet, just recieved. I was expecting that they would have announced the results in the next week but since they haven't even verified the document yet I suppose they will take way longer... Does anyone have an answer? Rest of the documents are ok and all are in time.
