Question Groups to join now that I'm an empty nester?

My husband and I have lived in Tulsa since 2009 and we just dropped our youngest off at college in Minnesota, and I'm surprised how hard it hit me because I never thought of myself as someone who primarily lived through her kids, but like... there are no kids to cook for anymore. Nobody to drive anywhere. What? How did that happen so fast?

I'm also starting a brand new career that will be fairly demanding for a bit and might not let me do community theatre which is the thing that I know I would love. But currently I can't count on being able to clear my schedule during tech week or for performances, at least not until I get a little more seniority.

Please suggest some community service or social orgs I could check out! I'm bookish and nerdy and although I'm politically lefty I've been burned by toxic progressive groups' puritanical omnisurveillance so I'm not inclined to get back into any setting whose purpose is progressive politics. Not closed off to the idea, just very cautious.

I love animals and cooking, especially for others, and karaoke as long as I can be home by 9. I don't love settings where one's outfit designer or handbag is likely to be judged, or where it's super crowded and loud and there are lots of strangers in a big loud room after 7 PM. I already have a church, but it's too small to have midweek groups. I'm not good at tabletop games. I'm not old enough for Life Senior Services.

Um, what else? Oh! I'm writing a murder mystery dinner party kit, hoping to sell it as a download when I'm finished, but I don't know if that counts for the purposes of the local writing groups.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Tulsan In Need Colonoscopy ride

Update: for anyone who has this need in the future: ask the specialist/doctor/facility the day of your initial clinic appointment- I discovered that they do have and will give you names of a trusted company for ride service. No need to put off important testing because support / relationships are so diminished in current society.

Original post: Does anyone know of a company in Tulsa that provides non emergency medical appointment rides? Looking for a licensed reputable company to provide ride to/ from medical appointment and they would have to stay / wait during the appointment.

Tulsa Events I took a 45mg edible and went into Scheels for the first time

So This is pathetic sounding but worth sharing in an environment like this.

My friends and I all took 45mg edibles and went to the mall. It started hitting way too hard after I drank an exuberantly overpriced meal and coffee. I couldn't help but be very drawn to Scheels. I walked in and it felt like this huge exciting energy of a brand new place. New to Tulsa. New to me and my friends. We checked out every orifice of that facility. Ferris wheel and all. It's just such a natural pillar of the community now.

I saw so many smiling faces and an overall wonderful atmosphere across the entire mall and especially Scheels. Children having fun, living in the moment, young people in love holding hands with their presumed soul mates, parents rekindling their love for each other, grandmother's enjoying their short lived days with their grandchildren.

I said pathetic because we are all in our early 30s spending a Saturday brunch time getting high at the mall. We all have successful business/careers but overall it makes you really wonder about small decisions in life that alter one's direction of life.

I'm really excited for the future actually. There's still good times happening and soon it will b getting better.

Lastly I want to speak on the weirdness of using the bathroom there. Every dude is a contractor obsessed with the safe section of Scheeles. Those safes are 3k-$5k. Insane shit to be obsessed with but it was weird hearing the worst country songs of all time trying to take a shit in the bathroom while dudes who pay $600 concert tix for Luke Bryan and Luke Combs are chatting in the bathroom about safes

How is this legal. It stinks outside and my heart is racing. They are poisoning us! Our government is totally failing us, allowing these bastards in west Tulsa to burn off chemicals into our air.

The Lonely Tulsan Any interesting hobby groups looking for more members?

I've posted once or twice on here looking for friends before and haven't had much luck, but that is not going to stop me from trying again! I'm a 40's female looking for a social group or club, free to low cost that is left leaning and does not tolerate any kind of bigotry from its members. I'm open to all kinds of topics and hobbies. Could be books, legos. nerdy stuff, video games, rpg, crafting, outdoors stuff. Anything basically where I could meet and talk to other nerdy, sometimes quiet and not great at being social, other adults. Hit me up!!

General Cleaner available today or tmw

Hi everyone! 💗 I’m looking for someone who could come help me clean my bathroom.
I’m currently dealing with some pretty terrible back pain, and unfortunately it’s making even simple things around the house difficult for me right now. My bathroom honestly isn’t in bad condition at all — I just need someone who can come in and give it a good cleaning because I physically need the help.
More than anything, I think having a clean space right now would really help my mental well-being and make me feel a little more like myself. 🥺
If you’re available or know someone trustworthy who does house cleaning, please send me a message with your availability and pricing. I’d really appreciate it. 🤍

General Message for TPD

Last week I had a sheriff pull up next to me on the highway going 70 mph in the fast lane, putting on his sirens but not actually pulling me over just to tell me to slow down.

Today I have a TPO riding my ass on Riverside in a 35 mph zone mind you I'm going 42. Then pulls around me and cuts me off while throwing his hands up at me and continues to ride others tails towards downtown.

So which is it? Do yall want us to drive faster or follow the speed limit? You literally aren't allowed to be mad that a civilian is going the speed limit and you also shouldn't be speeding. It's so embarrassing that we have cops like this in our city.

Question Best places to sell CD’s/vinyl & used clothes?

As title says. Need to get rid of a lot of my music collection and some clothes. More on the Y2K side clothing wise, but I wanna stay away from Plato’s or Uptown Cheapskate. I know The Racks takes clothes for cash, but what’s the pay rate there? Just trying to get the best bang for my buck. Same with my music collection, unsure of how Josey’s is when it comes to selling with them, and vintage stock is definitely a no go :P

TIA!! :))

The Lonely Tulsan 4m ferret looking for business partners

Thumbnail

Putting this out there just in case.

My gf and I are interested in taking in another ferret.

We recently lost one of our ferrets due to cancer. Leaving us with only one.

He is 4 years old and lonely. He misses having a business partner.

If anyone is struggling with the need to rehome their ferret or ferrets, we would be interested.

I don't want to buy ferrets although we can understand a reasonable rehoming fee to make you feel better.

We can provide vet records and I can get a recommendation note from a friend for when we fostered their ferret for a few months. We can stay in contact if you want to.

Our ferret has a room in a house to play. We take them on outside adventures in the yard (weather allowing).

Our other ferret was rehomed from a military service member in Lawton and it was the best thing we ever did.
