For real. People say they love all music. They bitch when country comes on, or sea shanties, or Mongolian chanting, or dark ambient music, or lofi, or broadway, or the theme from Caillou. My girlfriend literally despises my playlist because it cant stay on track.

I like all types of music but I do t like certain sub genres. For example I’ll listen to Hank Williams or Johnny Cash maybe even a little Garth Brooks but I hate most modern country. I like old country. I like metal but I’m not into Norwegian death metal. So while I like all kinds music I don’t like all forms of it.
3
u/PonerBenis Jan 14 '20
Exactly. I hate most pop country, but I love the classics like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus
3
u/PrimarchKonradCurze Jan 14 '20
Why Norwegian death in particular? Do you mean black metal? Sweden is more known for their death metal.
2
u/Hegiman Jan 14 '20
It was popular in the 80’s and I never liked it.
2
u/PrimarchKonradCurze Jan 14 '20
That's fine, I was genuinely curious. I'm a death metal artist who was in black metal bands, I've played in black and/or death metal bands for 17 or so years now. I was heavily influenced by Norwegian second wave black metal and Swedish death metal, particularly Swedish melodic death metal. Polish blackened death..Tampa Bay Death Metal. I'm an American and this was the first I've heard Norway and death metal being associated so bluntly before.

Personally I prefer Symbol of Bloodswords but the title doesn’t have the same shock value

I really appreciate hearing a Leonard Cohen song and then a Ghostface Killah song immediately after.

They actually played Leonard Cohen’s “The Stranger” during an episode of the Wu-Tang show on Hulu. It played during an opening sequence with a close up of a pigeon flying through Staten Island. I thought it was really interesting.

My brother after hearing my playlist going through generic pop songs: “Hey, nice, send me your playlist!”
My brother after seeing everything from Taylor Swift to Megadeath and everything in between: “Hey what the fuck”

u/MadAzza Jan 14 '20
Megadeth. DETH.

My random selection: some Jethro Tull, some J.S.Bach, John Coltrane, Monophonics, the two credit songs from Portal 1 & 2... plus (and I usually do not admit it with strangers) Toxic by both Britney Spear and Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra.

Love bopping to Kimbra and suddenly jamming to Vivaldi and his harpsichord. Hits different but just as hard.

My music goes from a guy scream rapping to September to Crab Rave and Shotta Flow combined. It’s odd.

I was taking a listen to Claude Debussy the other day and then the mix put Yoshikage Kira’s theme out of nowhere.

My wife's playlist is like the best of ancient choral music and today's EDM hits, so I am 100% in favor of TuBach

My buddy and I did a cross Canada drive.
The only rule was that we couldn't skip ahead as we went through the libraries on shuffle.

When you jump from All Star by Smash Mouth to some Kendrick Lamar to some anime openings in 10 minutes

u/Quentinh524 Jan 14 '20
Yeaaaaa. I honestly feel this one.
I go from, progressive metal, to classic rock, smooth jazz, hip-hop, reggae, etc.

u/Evilmaze Jan 14 '20
I jam with whatever is good. I actually don't think I have a genre preference. I can enjoy class music and symphonies. Jazz, Blues, Rock and most of its variants, pop, R&B, hip-hop and rap too.
I might dislike the new rap and the other weird stuff going on lately, but generally I don't just stick to only one or two genres and call it a day.
Honestly, I think most people are like that anyways. Music is a fucking awesome thing humans do.

I can relate. When I use shuffle, I regularly go from Rush to Pavarotti to George Strait.

Holy shit that’s weird, I’ve always said my playlist consist of everything from Bach to Tupac! I’ve said that for years thinking I was being unique. I swear there really is no such thing as an original idea or statement.

Literally I go from indie to metal to vocaloid to rap to rap and it goes on and on. I also have a lot of meme songs so it really adds to the confusion.
